Hamilton Neil King PATON
Died November 19, 2000 in San Francisco, California. Born April 16, 1924 in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Neil Served as a pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force during W.W. II. For much of his career he was a self-employed designer/inventor of railway cars and railway and automobile struts and suspension. In his retirement he worked with his wife, Maggie, to start and operate a needlepoint canvas design company in San Francisco. preceded in death by his son Craig Leigh Paton in 1957. Survived by his wife Margaret Thompson of San Francisco, CA; three daughters: Dr. Dale Paton Reisner of Seattle, Lisa Dorian Ness of Bloomer, WI, and Romany Leslie McCabe (Daniel) of Bellevue, WA; sister Leonore M. Hamilton (Richard) of West Vancouver, BC, Canada; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; friend and ex-wife Dorothy R. Paton of Seattle and his beloved cat Ogie. Age 59, born February 25, 1941 in the Bronx, New York, died December 10, 2000 in Seattle. He was a valuable asset to the restaurant community for over 30 years. Mary Louise PENDERGAST
A longtime resident of Edmonds, passed away on December 1, 2000. Mary was born on April 13, 1921 in Ossining, New York and later moved with her Mother and Father to Bristol, Connecticut. Mary moved to Seattle during her service in the 'Spars", the women's auxiliary of the United States Coast Guard. She met her husband, John, also a member of the United States Coast Guard, during this time and they settled in Seattle to raise their family. Mary was a devoted wife, Mother and community member and will be remembered by family and friends as a warm, loving person with a tenacious spirit. Mary is preceded in death by her husband, John; her son Bill and her daughter Mary Francis Perry. She is survived by her son John (Becky); her daughter Eileen; her granddaughters, Holly, Keri, Tami, Bridget, Maureen and Sy; her grandson Michael; her great granddaughters, Kristen and Kaitlyn; and her great grandson Will. Mary is at peace and we miss her so. A Burial Mass will be said by her cousin, Father Emmett Carroll, at 10:00 A.M. on December 11, 2000 at Holyrood cemetery Chapel 205 NE 205th St. Shoreline. Miguel (Mike) P. PERILLA, 88, passed away December 7, 2000. Born October 12, 1912 in Bantay Illocos Sur, Philip pines. Came to the U.S. in 1942 as a Merchant Seaman. Long time Seattle resident, worked in the Alaska seafood canneries for many years. Much loved by his adopted daughter, Connie Chinn, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Erlinda, and is survived by a daughter, Michelle, and a brother, Arsenio, in the Philippines. He leaves behind numerous extended family members and friends who will miss his love, humor and generosity. Services 10 a.m. Saturday, December 16 at Columbia Funeral Home, Seattle. Visitation Friday 1 to 7 p.m. Private interment Hillcrest cemetery, Kent.
J.F. "Fred" PETERSON
Resident of Bellevue since 1961, Fred passed on peacefully on the beautiful early morning of December 8, 2000 after a brief illness. Fred was born in St. Paul, MN on October 8, 1917 to the parents of John L. and Edla Peterson. He married
Catherine Lencowski in 1942. Fred worked his entire career for Cudahy/Bar S Meat Packing Company and transferred with the company in 1961 to Seattle. He is survived by his sister, Esther Rode of St. Paul, MN, his wife Catherine, daughters Barbara Spence of Littleton, CO, Kate Peterson of Seattle, and Janet Hoffman of Lake Forest Park, and sons John Peterson of San Anselmo, CA and Rick Peterson of Port Orchard, and his eight grandchildren. Funeral mass will be held on Monday, December 11th at 11 a.m. St. Louise Catholic Church on 156th and Main St. in Bellevue. Violet Emma POMEROY
passed away on December 10, 2000 in Des Moines, Washington after a brief illness. She was 79. Violet was born on January 19, 1921 in Conde, South Dakota. She graduated from Conde High School and from St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in Aberdeen, South Dakota as a R.N. She served during WWII overseas as a Navy nurse Lt. J.G. in the South Pacific in various locations. Violet worked many years as a R.N. nurse in various Seattle area hospitals. She and her husband George were married
for 52 years and loving raised a family of six children. George preceded Violet in death in 1998. Violet's interests were her family and various charitable works involving her Catholic parish. Violet is survived by her sons, Patrick Pomeroy of Normandy Park, WA. and Timothy Pomeroy of Seattle, WA.; her daughters, Theresa Ann Tommaney of Tacoma, WA., Joanne Schifini of Albany, CA., Christine Pomeroy of Olympia, WA., and Jacqueline Sherwood of Montrose, CO.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild whom she loved very much; and numerous nieces and nephews for whom she held a special fondness. She is also survived by her dear sister-in-law Shirley Tennis of Conde, SD. A Memorial Mass celebrating Violet's life will be held at St. Philomena Catholic Church, 1790 South 222nd, Des Moines, WA. at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 16. Interment

Mabel was an honorary lifetime member of the Marine Underwriters Association. She enjoyed the sea, ships, real estate, gardening, and horse racing. Survived by her daughter Carol Haviland, her grandchildren Kathy, Cheryl, Mark and Diane, and great grandchildren Dain, Skyler and Jessica. Memorial service will be held at Foss Home. William O. (Bill) REICH
William O. (Bill) REICH of Federal Way, WA. died at home on Wednesday, December 6, 2000. He was born on May 24, 1929 in Boston, MA. and spent his childhood there. Bill attended Concordia Preparatory College and Seminary in New York prior to serving in the Armed Forces in W.W. II. While stationed in the Pacific NW, he met his wife of 47 years, Margaret Cotton, who preceded him in death in 1992. Mr. Reich was a Police officer in Ellensburg, WA. for 12 years, rising to the rank of Lieutenant. He attended training at the FBI Academy in Washington, D.C. and became the Chief of Police in Wenatchee WA. from 1960 - 1972. Bill was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church, singing in the choir and serving on the church board. He was also a member of the Wenatchee Musical Theatre, the Apollo Club Men's Choir, Washington State Police Association, Elks Club of Wenatchee, American Legion, was the past president of the Pacific N.W. FBI National Academy, and a member of Twin Lakes Golf and County Club in Federal Way. He and Margaret moved to Federal Way in 1981 and spent their retirement years enjoying many rounds of golf and traveling the U.S. and Mexico. Mr. Reich is survived by his four children, Tom Reich of Redmond, WA., Trish Koslowski of Tualatin OR., Marti Uecker of Portland OR., Leslee Pike of Wenatchee WA.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service in honor of Bill Reich will be held on Sunday, December 17 at 2 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church in Auburn, WA., where he was a member. Memorials may be given in his name to St. Francis Hospital, Federal Way and Messiah Lutheran Church, Auburn WA. (Obit dated 12/14/2000.)

Tod Deveraux RHOTON, 81, died November 30, 2000 at his home in Hayward, California. A character to the end, a friend to all, Tod will be remembered for his winning smile, his deep, booming voice, his recitations, and most of all the many songs he serenaded his friends and family with over the years.
