Elsie H. Runions, 55 passed away April 3, 2001. She was born October 8, 1945 in San Francisco, CA. Survivors include her husband, Patrick F. Runions; children, Shelly and husband John, Patrick, Jr., Mary, Karen and husband Jay, Thomas, Martin, Christine and Elizabeth; brother, Roy White; sisters, Mary Lord, Nancy Dohms, and Kathryn Stoops, and her best friend, Janna Robbins. Elsie's greatest love was her grandchildren. She will be loved and greatly missed. Louise O. "Tillie" RUTLEDGE
Born July 30, 1909 in Trondheim, Norway. Died April 2, 2001. Immigrated to Canada with her parents when an infant. Grew up in Nelson, British Columbia, where she taught at Hume School for many years. Moved to Seattle, WA. in 1948, upon her marriage. preceded in death by her loving husband Ross, in 1976. Employed at Van Waters and Rogers until her retirement in 1974. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to The Foundation, Group Health Cooperative, or a charity of your choice. Inurnment at Washington Memorial Park. Pauline F. SABOL
Pauline F. Sabol, born in Tacoma, WA., June 22, 1926, passed away March 31, 2001 at University Place Care Center. Her parents John P. and Pauline M. Sabol preceded her in death. Pauline will be remembered by her many friends that knew and loved her. She worked at Puget Sound Bank for many years as a dedicated employee before retiring as an assistant manager for Key Bank. Pauline dedicated herself and reached out to an entire Catholic community through her lifelong devotion to St. Jo seph Slovak Catholic Church. Pauline's faith and trust in God are the legacy she has left to all those who knew her. Her lifelong work will benefit the Catholic Community forever. Pauline is survived by Aunt Anne Welch and husband Robert, Uncle Silas Hiott, cousins, Jan Weger, Susan Lippold, Sharon Schmidt, Theresa Hiott-Smith, Ron Hiott and Carol Smith. A special thank you goes to the entire staff at University Place Care Center and all of the friends and family that assisted with Pauline's care throughout her illness. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, April 7, 2001, 11 a.m. St. Joseph Slovak Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited Friday, April 6, 2001, 7 p.m. at the 1002 So. Yakima Ave. Chapel. Interment

Went home to be with the Lord. She was born Nov. 6, 1912 in Twin Valley, MN. and died April 5, 2001 peacefully at home with her loved ones. Clara was preceded in death by her husband Ho ward on April 5, 1967, seven brothers and one sister. Inez V. SAYERS
Born September 30, 1919 in Great Falls, MT. passed on April 5, 2001. A resident of Ballard since 1946, Inez and her husband Howard raised four daughters, Sharon, Marsha, Susan and Donna. She lived a healthy, active life for eighty years, and was truly blessed by God and loved by all who knew her. Inez is survived by: her brother Eddie Burg, her husband of 61 years, Howard, and by four daughters and their spouses, and three wonderful grandchildren, Alana, Angie, and Raleigh. Baby Nicolas, her first great grandchild arrived 11 months ago. We will miss you, Mom, but we will be together again. (Obit dated 04/08/2001.)

Robert Edmund SKARPERUD, O.D.
Died April 2, 2001 in his home on Mercer Island, WA. He was born July 24th, 1925 in Aberdeen, WA to Arthur M. Skarperud, M.D. and Hilda Boe Skarperud. Survived by Barbara, his loving wife for 41 years, his children Susan M. Skarperud, Andrea L. (John) Frazier, Kirsten F. Skarperud and Robert A. Skarperud and his grandchildren Austin, Jake, Phillip and Teague Frazier. He graduated from Weatherwax High School in Aberdeen, WA in 1943 and then served in the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Apprentice First Class until 1946. He received a Bachelor degree in Zoology from the University of Washington in 1950 and a Doctor of Optometry from the Northern Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago in 1954. He first practiced in Othello and Redmond, WA and then moved his practice to West Seattle in 1965 and retired in 1998. He was president of the King County Optometric Society from 1971 to '72 and a member of West Seattle Rotary. His other interests included farming, flying and boating to Husky games and the San Juan Islands. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Friends are welcome to join his family in a memorial service to be held on Saturday, April 7th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Skarperuds home at 4145 West Mercer Way, Mercer Island. John "Jack" T. SKOLROOD
Age 72, of Ferndale, WA., passed away on Satur day, March 24, 2001, in Bellingham. He was born August 6, 1928, in Seattle, WA. to James and Clare (Finkbonner) Skolrood. He graduated from O'dea High School in 1945. He married
Ca role Roth in August of 1957 in Reno, NV. and she preceded him in death on December 19, 1998. He served in the U.S. Navy for a short time. John was employed as a mechanic and then became a professional truck driver. When he retired in 1985 he moved to the Lummi Reservation to live. He took care of his wife for 10 years before she passed away. He loved to fish and he never met a stranger. Survivors include son John and wife Jamie Skolrood of Graham, WA.; grandson Jerry Skolrood of Graham, WA.; brother Don and wife Pat Skolrood of McCleary, WA., sister Pat Beaupre of Everett, WA.; numerous nieces and nephews, and numerous relatives on the Lummi Reservation. Gary R. SMITH
Born in Seattle November 19, 1946; passed away April 7, 2001 due to complications from leukemia. He is survived by his children, Jessica and Ryan Smith; his wife, Nancy Darlington; mother, Betty Smith; and brother Gregg (Jeanette) Smith. preceded in death by his father, Roy Smith. Gary graduated from Blanchet High School in 1964. He obtained a degree in aeronautical engineering and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Washington. Gary was employed by Rainier National Bank until 1989. Gary and his wife have operated the commercial real estate firm Yates, Wood & MacDonald since 1990. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, April 11th, at 10 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church, 3214 N.E. 62nd St., Seattle. Vivian passed away unexpectedly on April 2, 2001. She was born September 15, 1924 as Vivian Bernice Totten. She was raised in Ballard and graduated as a "Ballard Beaver" in 1943. Shortly after high school, she met Rowlan who swept her off her feet. Together, they had 56 loving years traveling, golfing, and entertaining their friends here and at their "ski condo" at Whistler. Vivian is survived by her husband Rowlan, son Dennis and his wife Mary Anne with their children Denise and Sondra, and daughter Terri and her husband Andrys. Vivian had a large circle of many longtime friends who will miss her dearly. A Memorial Service will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 12509 - 27th N.E., Seattle, WA. on Palm Sunday, April 8, 2001 at 2 p.m. Reception following at Terri's.
