Barbara Jean Trent, the beloved daughter of Charles and Nancy Davis, born on July 13, 1961 in Decorah, IA., died peacefully at 3:05 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2001. In 1972 the family settled in Woodinville, WA where Barb attended Cottage Lake Elementary School, Leota Junior High and Bothell High School. After graduating in 1979 she enrolled at W.S.U. in Pullman, WA. Barb was a confirmed member of First Lutheran Church in Bothell. Barbara is survived by her son, Taylor Scott of Lynnwood, WA; her parents, Charles and Nancy Davis of Woodinville, WA; her brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Donna Davis and niece Alysha of Post Falls, ID and her fiancé, Vincent Thomason of Lynnwood. She is lovingly remembered by her Grandpa, Robert Wielage of San Diego, CA; her aunt and uncle Pat and Betty Mooney of Anacortes, WA.; two cousins, Patrick Mooney and Charleen Forsman and their families also of Anacortes; and her great-aunt Elizabeth Frye of Knoxville, MD. Memorial Service 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 7th, at First Lutheran Church in Bothell. For directions call the Church office at 425-486-2314. The family requests that NO FLOWERS be sent. James K. TRULSON
Born December 11, 1927 in Saskatchewan, Canada. passed away peacefully, on June 2, 2001, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Donna, son Michael (Carolyn), and daughters, Laurie (Gordon) Ruttan and Dana. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, brothers Orville and Lloyd, and sisters Irene Fox and Marjorie Stewart. He was preceded in death by brother Wayne and sister Catherine Tyler. Jim was a dedicated family man and was happiest when surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He was an avid sportsman and from his youth until his illness prevented further active involvement, he participated in many of them. In his younger days he was heavily involved in coaching youth baseball. Memorial Services will be Thursday, June 7th, at 1 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 8316 - 39th Ave. S.W., Seattle, WA. 98136. Dr. Kent UELAND
Aberdeen, Wash. Former Bellevue physician, Dr. Kent Ueland, 70 of Grayland, Wash. and Lahaina, Maui, Ha., passed away Friday, June 1. He had lived in Grayland since 1989. Kent was born in Chicago, Ill. but spent much of his childhood in Stavanger, Norway and immigrated to the United States with his family during his high school years. He graduated from Glen Ellyn, Ill. High School, Carleton (Minn.) College and The University of Illinois Medical School. After completing his residency at the University of Washington, he accepted a faculty position in the Dept. of Obstetrics and Gynecology where he taught for 17 years as instructor, assistant professor, and professor of medicine. During his career he specialized in difficult baby deliveries. A highlight was his delivery of quintuplets in 1973, the first such delivery in Washington state. He finished his career at Stanford University where he chaired the OB/GYN department. While in the Northwest, Kent was active in youth soccer, coaching two Washington state champion teams. Among his former players was Bernie James, currently head coach of the Seattle Sounders. Kent is survived by his wife, Theresa (Karshner) Ueland of Grayland, sister Lillian Retzius of Stavanger, Norway, six sons, Hal of White Salmon, Wash., Craig of Burien, Wash., Carl of Renton, Wash., Fred of Lexington, Ky., Scott Smith of Seattle, Wash., Michael Smith of Santa Cruz, Cal., and 12 grandchildren. Ray UNDERWOOD
Ray was born on July 31, 1920 in May, Oklahoma. Died June 5, 2001 at his home in Arlington, WA. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Virginia; their children, Douglas (and Diane), Richard (and Adrienne), Christine (and Bill) Diefenderfer, Stewart (and Lauri); 12 grandchildren and 13 great; four brothers, Maynard, Robert, Wilbur and Enos. Ray moved to Seattle in 1940 and worked at Boeing for 41 years. He was also a volunteer firefighter at Kenmore Fire Dept. for over 20 years. Ray and Virginia enjoyed traveling, fishing and boating together. He will be greatly missed. Remembrances to Hospice or Alzheimer's Association. (Obit dated 06/07/2001.)

Charles William VANNOY
Charles William VANNOY, 86, died June 1, 2001 in Renton, Washington. He was born October 5, 1914 in North Platte, Nebraska to James and Mary Vannoy. He moved to Seattle 64 years ago, bringing his family with him. C. W. was a railroad engineer for over 30 years. After retiring, he became an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed camping and playing with his 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Charlie was preceded in death by his beloved wife Helen, and son Bill. He leaves a son, Vern and wife Sally; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters Kate and Velma. Albert J. VERVAKE, Jr., 73 years of age, a resident of Ocean Shores, WA. died on Tuesday, May 29, 2001 at his home in Ocean Shores. Mr. Vervake was a structural engineer for the Boeing Company from 1959 to 1981, then a contract engineer until retiring to Ocean Shores in 1993. Father of Mike Vervake of Kirkland, Robert Allen Vervake of Auburn, WA. and Gary T. Vervake of Houston, TX.; two grandchildren and one sister. Rear Admiral Harry N. WALLIN
Rear Admiral Harry N. Wallin died peacefully in his sleep at home in San Mateo, California, on May 27, 2001. He was born in Seattle, Washington, on May 17, 1913. With BS and MS degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Washington and MIT, he played an active role in the Pacific during World War II. He commanded Seabee construction troops in the New Hebrides in 1942, and expedited the construction of airfields, warehouses, hospitals, and other facilities to support U.S. landings on Guadalcanal. Throughout the war, he supervised planning, design, and construction of shore facilities in Western Australia, New Guinea, the Admiralty Islands, Indonesia, and the Philippine Islands. For his service with the Seabees in the Pacific, Admiral Wallin was decorated with the first of his three Legion of Merit awards. After World War II, he was engaged in wide-ranging Navy assignments from Reserve Fleet Berthing Areas on the West Coast to the Naval Ordinance Laboratory, to Guantanamo Bay, and Pearl Harbor. He managed the Navy's world-wide facilities engineering and construction program, and served as Commander of the Atlantic Division of the Naval Facilities Engineering Command. Upon completion of 32 years of commissioned service, Admiral Wallin joined Bechtel Corporation where he directed engineering and construction work on marine facilities projects worldwide, and managed the Trojan Nuclear Power Project in Oregon. These highlights of a long and distinguished engineering and military career show Rear Admiral Harry Nels Wallin to be a giant among American Military Engineers. He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers; a Fellow in the Society of American Military Engineers; a member of Tau Beta Pi (National Engineering Society); and Sigma Xi (National Science Honorary). Rear Admiral Wallin is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Esther; his grateful children, Kris and Jim Haggart, David and Lynda Wallin, and Janet Wallin; his proud grandchildren, Greg, Jeff, Mira, Jeremy, David, and KaiLea; and one great grandchild Brynnah; his sister Mildred Goss of Santa Barbara, and his brother Don Wallin of Seattle. He loved his many friends, music and golf and enjoyed his life to a tee. He will be truly missed. passed away June 4, 2001. Lois J. YARBOROUGH
Passed peacefully in her sleep 5-25-2001 at the age of 77. She was born and raised on the family ranch in Mile City, Montana to Herman and June Barthel. Lois was the youngest of four children: Marjorie Hawkins of Buckley, Irene Briglio of Olympia and Arlic Barthel (deceased). She is also survived by a son Randy Gregory, nieces Ruby Tiller and Barbara Long, nephews Len Hawkins and Arlic Ray Barthel and cousin Helen Mae Frowick. Her life took many different roads after leaving the family ranch at the age of 16. Those who knew her loved her for her kind and generous spirit, quick wit, keen sense of humor and her ability to laugh at life. We truly miss her. At her request, no services.
