Patsy Ann OLSEN
Of Auburn passed away on Friday, June 15th, 2001 at Virginia Mason Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born July 12th, 1953 in Portland, OR., where she resided most of her life. She was a loving mother and wife and is survived by her husband of 31 years, Greg T. Olsen, daughter Anna Marie of Tacoma and son Matthew of Auburn, sisters Connie Court of Clackamas, and Donna Andrews of Gresham, brother Don Barber of Clackamas, several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. Prior to motherhood, she had a career in administration at Providence and Woodland Park Hospitals, and the City of Troutdale, after which she devoted herself to her home and family. In the fall of 1988, Greg's company, Transamerica Title, relocated the family in the Seattle area, where she put her talents to work in decorating their home and yard. She also enjoyed boating, fishing and RV'ing with Greg and the family. She was a very giving person and her generosity, wit and sense of humor will be greatly missed by family and friends. Helen Virginia OLSON
Helen Olson was born Helen Back in Port Or chard, WA. on September 24, 1917, and passed away on June 15, 2001. She worked as a physical therapist during W.W. II and later, as a civilian, worked at Harborview Hospital and Ballard Hospital. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her two sons and their wives -- Thomas and Edith Petek, of Sumner, and Jonathan and Arlene Petek of Monroe; five grandsons, Kevan, Jason, Craig, John, and Brent, and four great-grandchildren. Edna May OSBURN
Age 96, born July 31, 1904 in Topeka, KS. She died June 17, 2001 in Seattle, WA. A member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ and Queen Anne Chapter O.E.S. preceded in death by her husband and daughter. She is survived by her son Del Osburn of Seattle; granddaughter, great granddaughter, and grandson all of Indianapolis, IN. No service at her request. Inurnment at Acacia cemetery. Lucille Wright PALMER
July 17, 1909 to June 16, 2001
Born in Choptank, MD., she came to the Seattle area as a child and grew up on Queen Anne Hill, graduated from Queen Anne High School and attended the University of Washington. She spent her childrens' growing up years and her own senior adult years in Edmonds, WA. Some activities consisted of playing the piano, (including on early radio broadcasts in the 1920's in Seattle), writing for Pacific Search Magazine, being a docent at the Museum of History and Industry, and other volunteer work. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilford, and son, Richard. She is survived by her daughter, Corinne Balser (Dick), son, Ronald (Shirley) and daughter-in-law, Judy, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. At her request there will be no services nor interment of ashes. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice." (Obit dated 06/20/2001.)
John R. PATRICK
Age 59, born October 24, 1941 in Snohomish, WA. Graduate of Snohomish High School and Western Washington University. Longtime Boeing employee and active leader of Boy Scout Troop #572 in Kirkland, WA. He went home to be with his Lord on June 17, 2001. He died after a lengthy battle with a brain tumor. He is survived by his loving wife Trina and his children: Daniel 18, Jonathan 16, Juliana 12, Benjamin 10, and Christina 7; father Bill Patrick; and sister Mary Peebles. Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. on June 24th at Rose Hill Presbyterian Church, 12202 N.E. 90th, Kirkland, WA.
Betty M. PESCHEL
A Funeral Mass for Betty M. Peschel, age 74 of Woodinville, will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2001 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 10526 166th Ave NE., Redmond. A reception will follow. A committal service will follow at Sunset Hills Memorial Park in Bellevue at 2 p.m. Betty died as the result of an automobile accident on June 21, 2001 on East Lake Sammamish Parkway. Fred Peschel in Sioux City, Iowa. She and her husband moved to Bellevue in 1955. She owned and operated Bellevue Caterers for 23 years. She is survived by her loving husband Fred and three daughters Cindy Peschel-Hull, Cheri Peschel, Rene Szafryk one son Brian Peschel; two sisters, and six grandchildren. Gerald (Jerry) PETERSEN
A kind gentle devoted loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, who always had a smile on his face and a gracious giving heart, passed away peacefully with family by his side on June 18, 2001. He was born May 21, 1924 in Eden, Idaho. Moved to Renton, WA, in 1927 and graduated from Franklin High School. He proudly served in World War II from 1943 to 1946 on the Naval Aircraft carrier, USS Kadashan Bay. After the War, he married
his beloved wife and companion, LaRene. They enjoyed 54 years of marriage. Jerry was an excellent auto mechanic who truly enjoyed his work and the people he met. He followed his dream to become an auto mechanic when he and partners Jack Paxson and Scott S. Sherman opened their auto mechanic shop in the Eastlake area. He retired in 1984 after 35 years in a long and rewarding career. As important as his business was to him and as hard as he worked, he never lost sight of the purpose of his life. He committed his life to his faith in God and his family. He was loved and respected by all his family, will be remembered in our hearts forever and greatly missed. He is survived by his wife LaRene, son Ken and wife Debbie Petersen, daughter Ginger and husband Jon Lindenauer, five grandchildren, Kelsey and Gabe Petersen, Erik, Kris and Alex Lindenauer, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Jeffrey "J.D." PITTS
Jeffrey "J.D." Pitts, 53, of Bothell, died Friday, June 15, 2001, in Medford, Oregon. Mr. Pitts was born on March 17, 1948, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Donovan Royal Pitts and Ruth Kohl. He lived in the Seattle area for the past 10 years. On June 7, 1980, in Simi Valley, Calif., he married
Anna Ruth Swanson, who survives. He graduated from Highland High School, in Sacramento, Calif., and the University of Calif., and served as a SP4 in the U.S. Army from 1971 to 1973. He worked for 25 years as a tax collector for the I.R.S. He enjoyed fishing, working in the yard and mu sic. He is survived by his wife; five sons, Christopher Pitts, Tulsa, OK., Zachary Pitts, Mill Creek, WA., Marvin Alderman, Napa, CA., Matthew Alderman, Phoenix, AZ.; and Timothy Alderman, Hillsboro, OR.; a daughter-in-law, Tonya Pitts; a brother, David Pitts, Corpus Christi, TX.; a sister, Virginia Taylor, Sacramento, CA.; and 15 grandchildren. Iver POOLEY
Passed this last Tuesday on June 19, 2001 in Olympia, Washington. Born in Spokane, Washington, Iver moved to the Olympia area where he worked for the Columbia brewing company. He was a brewer for 45 years brewing Coca-Cola and Pepsi. He also served in the United States Army and fought in W.W. II. Iver was a member of the Church of God and a devoted family man. His loves included being a great fisherman, walks in the outdoors and after he retired he worked for the City of Lacey in the Parks Department taking great pride in everything he did. His loving wife Sheila Pooley of Lacey, WA. survives him. His daughters Evelyn Carolyn Pooley of Boston, Mass., Gwendalyn May Pooley of Lynnwood, WA. and Brenda Lee Pooley of Elma, WA. His two grandsons, Michael Lee Lamphier and Zacharia Frances Brown. His brother Edgar Pooley precedes him in death several years earlier. Services by Cady Cremation Services, Kent, WA. Beatrice "Harriet" RAAUM
passed away June 20, after an extended illness. She is survived by Norris, her husband of 63 years; her son, Larry of Renton; granddaughter, Lori Pratt of Snohomish and sister, Fern Rowe of Kirkland as well as many nieces and nephews. Harriet, as she was known to friends and family, was a charter member of the Aerie of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Kirkland Chapter #2681 as well as a member of the Daughters of Norway, Gina Krog Chapter. Harriet was born May 31, 1916 and raised in Woodworth, North Dakota before moving with her family to Kirkland in 1943. She worked at the Rexall Drug in Kirkland until she went to work for the Lake Washington School District, retiring from there in 1978. Family and friends will miss her delightful sense of humor, great cooking and her great feeling for life. Services will be held Tuesday, June 26, 1 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 11920 NE 80th St., Kirkland. Visitation will be Saturday and Sunday, June 23 and 24, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Green's Kirkland Funeral Home. Hazel C. RATTRAY
Hazel C. RATTRAY, 89, passed away June 16, 2001 in Seattle. She was born in April 2, 1912 here in Seattle, and was a life long resident of the Seattle area. Hazel was a devoted servant of AWANA boys and girls club, even to the age of 89 years. Hazel is preceded in death by her two sisters, Florence and Marjorie Rattray. Graveside Services will be Wednesday, June 20, at 11 a.m., and will be conducted at Washelli cemetery, 11111 Aurora Ave N., Seattle, followed by Memorial Services at 1 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church, 6214 N.E.
