Donna Watt ANDERSON
Of Kirkland, died September 30, 2001 at the age of 56, after a short battle with cancer. She has lived most of her life in the Kirkland area. Her greatest pleasures were her children, grandchildren, horses and traveling. She is survived by her husband and partner of 30 years, Jack; sisters, BettyRae and husband Bob; Robin and husband Al, and Roxy; daughter, Tracy and husband Kermit; sons, Randy and wife Paige; Kurt and wife Lori; Brett and wife Bridgette, and John; grandchildren, Kyle, Kristi, Ryan, Sabrina, Brendan, and Nicholas. Funeral Service 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5 at Green's Kirkland Funeral Home. In honor of Donna, please bring a can of food for the Kirkland Food Bank. Elizabeth McAvoy ANDERSON
Endured a courageous six-year battle with cancer that ended on October 1st. Throughout her entire life and even during her six-year struggle, Liz lived her life to the absolute fullest leaving behind a beautifully intertwined legacy of grace, courage, and peacefulness. She will be missed dearly by everyone whom she touched, especially by her proud husband James and sons Matthew and Eric. Her family would like to sincerely thank the wonderful group of doctors and nurses at Swedish Hospital for their compassion and care. A memorial service will be planned for Liz. Jim was born in Pullman, WA., raised in Spokane, and retired after 38 years at Seafirst bank in Vancouver, WA., where he was Vice-President and manager of the Clark County branches. Jim served in W.W. II as an Army Lieutenant stationed in Rome, Italy. Jim was preceded in death by a son, James C., daughter Becky Austell Freeman, and wife of 49 years, Bette. Survived by son Bill Austell of Kent, WA., grandchildren Emily Freeman, attending University of Colorado, James, Ricky, and Katie Austell of Kent, WA. Jim loved his family and many friends. He enjoyed golf, serving as president of Royal Oaks and Longview Country Clubs. Jim and Bette often traveled with other couples to golf outings in Hawaii, California, and throughout the Pacific Northwest. An avid hunter and fisherman, Jim was often back in his homelands of eastern Washington in pursuit of bird hunting opportunities. Community service work included regular blood donations at Red Cross, Rotary club, and Elks club service organizations. Services to be held Friday, October 5th, 2001 at 1 p.m. at Vancouver Funeral Chapel. Stephen BAILLIE
Scottish Memorial for Stephen Baillie Stephen "Stevie" Baillie, of Seattle, died in a tragic car accident near Cle Elum on September 21, 2001. A traditional Scottish Memorial Service will be held at Mulleady's Pub at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 29. Stevie, owner of TNT Catering, was raised in Glasgow, Scotland, and found his calling as a master chef. Trained at the Culinary Institute of America, he served as chef on some of the most prestigious yachts in the world, including the Attessa, L'Elegance, and most recently the Katania, owned by CEO Expeditions, based here in Seattle. His passion for cooking, creativity and original presentations were appreciated by many business leaders, luminaries and movie stars in Europe and the U.S. These included Valentino, Armani, Streisand, and, this summer, Robin Williams, Al Pacino, and Hilary Swank, while filming on location in Alaska. He is survived by Cathi Baillie, and son Drew. In lieu of gifts or flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Drew Baillie Scholarship Fund...a college education was Stevie's dream for his son. Edward J. BAKER
Ed Baker liked to say that he was born on a beautiful island off the East Coast of the United States, only later would he reveal that its name was Manhatten. Born September 4th 1916 Ed remembers running along side Lindberg's car during a Wall Street ticker tape parade. He took great pride in having attended New York's elite high school Peter Stuyvecent that became a triage center during his hometowns recent tragedy. Terming her "the Westchester Cradle Snatcher" he and Edith Wales were married
at a very young age beginning 47 years of togetherness that was a great example of unity and respect to all who knew them. Daughters Barbara Quinn (husband Jamie) and Ellen Simmond (husband Sherry) have shared many adventures with their ebullient father. Ed was grandfather not only the James and Nancy Quinn but to Sheridan, Sarah, Paula Robert, Sasha, Nicole, Blake, Tina, Eli, JJ, Daniel and Leanne. The eldest of six, he squired his sisters Anne, Alice, Helen and Joan on a memorable tour around the Northwest. Like all events that involved Ed the visit was full of fun and laughter. Beginning as an office boy and retiring as a general manager and member of the board of directors of Federated Metals Division, American Smelting and Refining Company Ed was know all over the country in the metals and recycling industry. Glendale Country Club, Pacific Iron and Maui, Hawaii were favorite haunts after his retirement. The many friends he made there were an important part of his life. His family can't begin to express their thanks and gratitude for the love and support shown during his illness, friends Scotty Chrissie, Laura, Sue, Dr. Amidon and his angel practitioner Polly Gardiner, Pam, Tanya, Patti, Jody at the Gardens, Adena, Marianne and the" Mexican Angel" Claudia. He loved them all. There will be a gathering for friends on Sunday October 9 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Glendale Country Club, 3440 Main Street, Bellevue. DeAngelo Laroyce Balagot passed away September 26, 2001. He was born May 29, 1990 in Seattle, WA. He is survived by his mother, Maria; grandparents, Romeo and Linda Balagot; great grandmothers, Feliciana Balagot and Consuelo Llana; uncles, Ronald and Romeo Balagot; numerous great aunts, uncles and cousins. DeAngelo was a popular student at Harbour Point Middle School. He was a handsome, happy young man; always smiling and full of energy. He enjoyed volleyball and track. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 6th at Butterworth Funeral Home, 300 E. Pine Street, Seattle. Patricia L. BALL
Born August 18th, 1935 in Buffalo, New York. Pat died of surgical complications on September 26, 2001. She was 66. Pat met her husband Don during her high school years. She was a graduate of State Teachers College at Buffalo. Pat taught school for mentally disabled. Pat has three beautiful children, Lorie, Deanna and Don. In 1972 the family packed up and drove across country to Redmond, Wa. They were one of the first families to set root in Sahalee Country Club. Survived by her husband of 43 years; mother (age 91); sister, three children, two grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Pat will be missed by all. As a devout Catholic, she was a woman with a heart as big as her home and gave freely of herself. Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, October 2, 2001 at 3 p.m. at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Redmond. Carol J. BEACH (Thompson)
Age 76, passed away September 27, 2001. Carol was born December 13, 1924 in Seattle, Washington. She was a life long resident, and the biggest Mariners fan. Carol was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Aaron, and is survived by three sons, Scott (Linda), Greg (Kathleen), Douglas (Tonette) Beach; sister Lorraine; brother Blair; seven grandchildren, Todd, Brea, Kimberly, Kyle, Stacy, Devin, Jackson and two great-grandchildren, Caleb and Ashley. She is so loved and will be greatly missed. Memorial Services will be Thursday, October 4, 2001 at 11 a.m. and will be conducted at Queen Anne Christian Center, 1716 - 2nd Ave. N., Seattle.
