Lois Wisner BUSEY
passed away on Sept. 28, 2001. She was a home maker, a beautiful lady, loved by many and admired by others. She is survived by Matt, her loving husband of more than 60 years, son, and pride and joy, Lanny Leroy and his wife Karen of Pleasanton, CA.; daughter, and best friend, Kay Busey of Renton, grandchildren, Noelle Busey and her mother Shirley Milani, Scott Federspiel, Carie Birkey and her husband Jason; sisters, Phyllis Wilson, Pearl McDonald and Sally Weaver and brother, Max Wisner. Ralph E. CAMPBELL
Age 75, of Federal Way died at home on Sept. 27, 2001. He was born on Jan. 6, 1926 at Fairmount (Discovery Bay), WA. the youngest of nine children to Ellery and Elizabeth (Tumner) Campbell. He was a 1944 graduate of Port Townsend High School. The day after graduation he joined the U.S. Marine Corps. He served in W.W. II aboard the U.S.S. INDIANA seeing action in the Pacific Theater until the surrender of Japan. In Sept. of 1945 Ralph was stationed in Bremerton. On November 29, 1945, while still in the Marines, he married
Margaret "Dolly" Fraser at Port Townsend, WA. Ralph was employed by the Navy at Indian Island, WA., worked for Crown-Zellerbach, then was self-employed as a logger in the Discovery Bay area. Ralph and Dolly operated the Port Townsend Golf Course from 1952-1954. They later bought the Lowell Plywood mill in Everett. In 1960 they moved to Lynnwood and he went to work for Boeing as a draftsman until his retirement in 1989. They moved to Federal Way in 1973. Surviving family includes his loving wife of 56 years, Dolly, Federal Way; daughter and son-in-law Elizabeth and Bill McMullin, Lodi, CA.; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a son, Alexander Campbell in 1982, three brothers and five sisters. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Kosec Funeral Home in Port Townsend on Wed., Oct. 3, 2001. John W. CARMICHAEL
Age 71, passed away September 28, 2001 in Ed monds. He was born May 23, 1930 in Claskanie, Oregon. John was Project Co-ordinator on the Alderwood Mall, worked for Al Gene Construction of Edmonds, retiring in 1993. His wife Janet of the family home, one son, four daughters, three sons-in-law and four grandchildren survive him. A private service will be held in his garden. Maile CLEIN
Our beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt, mother-in-law, great-aunt, and friend passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Monday, September 24, 2001 following a sudden stroke brought on by her battle with cancer. Maile was "Born on the Fourth of July", 1937 in Paia (Maui), Hawaii. She will be remembered as a very loving daughter by her mother, Nancy Hull; and as a compassionate sister to Nita Lockhart. Nita and Fred Lockhart introduced Maile to her devoted and loving husband of 47 years, Joe Clein. Maile was a caring mother to son, Tom (Tucker) Clein and daughters, Ginny Clein and Nancy Peckham. She was Grandma to Nolan and Carlene Deits; and to Neal and Dale Peckham. A U.S. Navy, then Air Force, and (finally) Boeing wife and homemaker, Maile will be forever remembered for her tireless spirit and devotion to her husband and 'ohana (family). A private gathering of family and very close friends to celebrate her life will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to a favorite charity. Aloha, Maile. Reverend Dr. David Griffith COLWELL
Reverend David Colwell, Minister Emeritus of Plymouth Church in downtown Seattle, died in Seattle on Saturday, September 22, 2001. He was a servant of God, a tireless worker for justice and civil rights, a prophetic preacher, and in his own words, "a simple parish parson". Throughout his ministry, his voice and example were a call to the powerful on behalf of the powerless. He inspired our faith and our works, and was a sustaining personal presence to his congregation and community. David's partner in life and ministry is his beloved wife Catherine Mapes Colwell. They shared 59 years of marriage, and have six children: sons David Colwell, Jr., Thomas Colwell, and John Colwell of Seattle, and daughters Susan Colwell of Ellensburg, Mary Prestridge of Cle Elum, and Sarah Woodyard of Massachusetts. Granddad is held in the hearts of his grandchildren Shanti, Jonathan, Lori, Jennifer, Catherine, Sophia, Susana, Joshua, Nathan, Anna, Kael, Griffith, Emma, Isaiah, and great-granddaughter Allison. David Olwell was born in Loveland, Colorado, December 19, 1916, the son of Howard and Lula Colwell. His brother Robert Colwell resides in Denver. He was preceded in death by his sister Lillian Patterson of Loveland. He graduated from Yale University in 1938, where he was an All-American football fullback. He earned his MBA in 1940 from Harvard Business School, and his M. Div. from the Yale Divinity School in 1943. He received an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Yale University in 1983. In W.W. II he served as a U.S. Army Chaplain in Europe, earning the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, and 5 campaign stars. Rev. Colwell served churches in Arlington, Mass., Denver and Washington, D.C. before coming to Seattle in 1967. David found great enjoyment and rejuvenation in his garden, his woodworking shop and on backpacking trips with family and friends. Memorial donations may be made to the Plymouth Housing Group, or to Plymouth Church, or to the area of need which you are called to serve. John D. CONNELL
A resident of Providence Point Retirement Community, Issaquah, WA., died September 28, 2001. He was 86. John was born in Calgary, Alberta and lived in Portland, Seattle, Mount Vernon, Oak Harbor and Issaquah. After graduating from Queen Anne High School in 1933, he worked as a Seaman and traveled to the orient and Alaska. He attended the University of Washington College of Forestry. He was an avid Forester and enjoyed all outdoor activities. Ice skating, skiing, hiking and tennis. In 1952, he established the Paul Bunyan Lumber Company in Mount Vernon and a second store in Oak Harbor. He was very active in Youth Activities and coached the First Little League Team in Mount Vernon and established the Youth Recreation Program at Hillcrest Park in Mount Vernon. John was preceded in death by an infant son and his daughter, Alice Connell Knight. He is survived by his wife Ruth of 64 years; his daughter Barbara and son-in-law Clarence Rozema of Mount Vernon, son John Jr. and daughter-in-law Jan of Corvallis, OR., son-in-law Rex Knight of Woodinville; his sister Jean Ostroth and Rita Johnson, brother George Connell; and niece Lynne Lovejoy. Granddaughter Elizabeth Knight Parker and Keith Parker, of Auburn, grandsons David Knight, Dirk Rozema, Jason Rozema and wife Benita, Nate Rozema, Travis Connell and wife Georgianne, Caleb Connell, Ryan Connell, Kyle Connell. Great-granddaughters Ellissa Parker and Sailor Rozema. Remembrances to a charity of your choice.
