Alice Guthrie YORE
Alice Yore, 61, of Bremerton, died of cancer at Harrison Hospital, September 25, 2001. She was born in Seattle to John D. and Isabel Guthrie, August 18, 1940. She spent her early years in Seattle, moving to Mercer Island in 1952, becoming a member of the first graduating class of Mercer Island High School. She attended the University of Washington, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She worked as an Operating Room Nurse beginning in 1962, and the last 16 years at Harrison Hospital until her retirement in 2000. Alice is survived by her daughters, Amy (Brian) Hanson Halquist of University Place, Abigail (Marty) Hanson Smith of Federal Way, her granddaughter Brittanie Jean Halquist, her sister Janet Goff of Cardiff, CA., her companion of many years, William Hanson, several cousins and her cat, Sullivan. At her request, no services are planned. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kitsap County Humane Society, Harrison Hospital Foundation Operating Room Educational Fund, or a favorite charity. Charles F. YORK, Jr.
Born on Wednesday, January 29, 1919 in Marion, Indiana to Charles D. York, Sr. and Gertrude (Wilson) York died on Sunday, September 23, 2001 in Puyallup. Mr. York owned and operated Cascade Finance in Renton until his retirement in 1981. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and held membership in the Shriners Lodge and the Nile Temple. Husband of Arletha (Cassidy) York of Puyallup. Father of Charles D. York, III of Lakewood, Wa. and Sheryl Johnson of Dallas, Tx. Brother of Carl (Linda) York of West Virginia. Also survived by five grandchildren and one great grandchild. Family will receive friends Friday 6 to 8 p.m. and Funeral will be Saturday 1 p.m. both at POWERS FUNERAL HOME 320 W. Carey Darrel YOUNG
Carey was born in Vancouver B.C. to Anne Marie and Todd W. Young on July 17, 1937. He passed away September 26, 2001 at the age of 64. He moved to Seattle in 1948 and this city was his home for 53 years. He is survived by his beloved wife Jamie Johnson-Young, his children Zahra Young of Seattle, Brenda Laughton of Spokane, Kevin Dunning of Hermosa Beach, CA., and Teresa Sanders of Seattle, four grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday October 6, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at Evergreen-Washelli Funeral Chapel, 11111 Aurora Avenue North. (Obit dated 10/03/2001.)
John William ACHTTIEN
John (Jack) William Achttien of Gardnerville, Nevada, died Monday, October 29, 2001 at home with his family. Jack was born June 23, 1920 on his parent's Altus, Wyoming homestead. His early years were spent living in a desert shanty during the Hoover Dam construction, Gold mining in Idaho and ultimately settling in Bremerton, Washington, where Jack worked as a truck driver in the Civilian Conservation Corps. (CCC's) for the Navy Yard. In June 1944, Jack enlisted in the Marine Corps. He served his country in the Pacific, fighting in the Battle of Okinawa and participating in the Occupation of Japan. He was Honorably Discharged February 1946, returning to Bremerton, where he started his own trucking business. In 1953, he married
Irene, his wife of 48 years. In 1955, they purchased and operated the Y-Not Lodge Nursing Home in Port Orchard, Washington. It was later sold, and in 1962 they purchased Lynnwood Manor, a 35-bed nursing home. Jack oversaw the extensive development and expansion of this care center into a 109-bed facility. In 1985, Jack and Irene sold the nursing home in order to begin their retirement. Jack enjoyed many activities including boating, riding his Harley, traveling in his motor home and flying his own airplane. To more fully enjoy these endeavors, they moved to St. George, Utah for several years and finally to Gardnerville, Nevada. Jack is survived by his wife Irene; Daughters Jean Folden and Bonita Hickok; Grandchildren Debra Williams, Duane Folden, Loucinda Crane, Blake Hickok, Sandra Achttien, Linda Deppa; Nine Great Grandchildren; Sister Rose Marie Green; and Aunt Pearl Mirich. A Celebration of Jack's Life will be held November 17th, 2 p.m. at Floral Hills, Lynnwood, WA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or charity of your choice. Edmund Alvin AMAN
In Loving Memory. Born 16 January 1924 at Hosmer, South Dakota. Died 12 November 2001 at Bremerton, WA. Edmund suffered a major stroke September 1996 and had been confined to a wheelchair and bed for over five years and never complained. His strong heart and will to live kept a smile and desire on his face. He leaves behind three sons from his deceased wife, Eleonora I. Schaible, remarried

Jean K. ANDERSON
Jean K. ANDERSON, 86, passed away November 2, 2001 following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. She was born February 5, 1915 in Morris Minnesota. Jean was a long time employee of the Northgate Bon Marche' where she worked in the Men's Sportsware department. She was preceded in death by her husband, Odin in 1983 and is survived by three children, Roger, Robert and Susan; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and friends. Woodford Victor ARMOUR
Age 89, of Shoreline, passed away on November 11, 2001. He was born on November 12, 1911 in Delbourne, Alberta, Canada. Mr. Armour served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked for many years in the construction trade as a Carpenter. Mr. Armour is survived by his sister, Ellen Walmsley; nephews, Lowell Walmsley & wife Dominique, Bob Sonnichsen & wife Georgie; nieces, Jois Child & husband Howard, Jean Thompson & husband Harry; and by several great nieces & nephews, relatives and friends. Lucile Divine BENNETT
Born September 17, 1913 in Lincoln, NE., passed away November 14, 2001 in Seattle. She was a graduate of the University of Washington School of Drama, a Seattle public school teacher, and her artwork has been featured in several art galleries and juried shows. Survived by her husband Manson, and three children Sheldon, Kirk, and Marta, also eight grandchildren. Her Memorial Service will be Saturday, November 17th, 1:30 p.m., at University Presbyterian Church, 4540 - 15th Ave. N.E., Seattle. Remembrances in her name may be given to Young Life or InterVarsity Christian Fellowship.
