Phyllis Thomson Scott CARLSON
On Thursday, November 8, 2001, Phyllis Thomson Scott Carlson drew her last breath and serenely went to be with the Lord in heaven. Phyllis, also known as "Susie", lived a very vigorous, robust life right up until the last day, surrounded by her loving family and steadfast lifelong friends. Phyllis graduated from High line High School where she was more than just a cheerleader, she was a stick of dynamite. She then attended the University of Puget Sound, where she was a Pi Phi. Some say that it was fate when she hopped on a train in 1945 to cross Canada to visit the Thomson family in Toronto and met Big Bob Scott! They married
very soon after and started traveling the world as Bob was a mining engineer. And travel they did! Phyllis spent her whole life traveling: Africa, Europe, Far East, Mexico, Hawaii and even just going to Husky games. For the last 40 years here at home, she was a great source of joy and every one who knew her will say it was "her laughter" and steady-as-a-rock wisdom that will be missed. Phyllis made her career at Sears Roebuck and was the first woman manager of a catalog branch store. She went on to many different management positions for Sears here and in California. She retired from Sears and moved to Washington D.C. with Bob for a couple of years for his work with the government and moved back to the family compound on Lake Washington in 1982. Bob passed away in 1983 and Phyllis rekindled an old friendship from high school at her 50th high school reunion which turned into love and marriage again in 1990. That lucky guy was Gene Carlson and the Scott family turned into the "Brady Bunch" and doubled in size with the addition of the Carlsons. To say she will be missed is an understatement but we all take great comfort in knowing she is with the Lord, waiting to see us again and watching over us all. She is survived by her second husband, Gene Carlson, her sons Bruce, Fraser and Brian, her daughter Missy, her grandchildren Erica and her husband Cory, Kelly, Casey, Kyle, Sarah, Sophie, Rob, Emma Rose, Fraser, Lily, Madaleine and great-grand son Paris Scoffield Brown. Inherited and loved grandchildren from the Carlson clan Jenny, Shana, Elise, Emily, Paul, Keara, Tia and great-grandchildren Robbie and Bane. Additionally Steve and Carolyn Barlow, Chris and Kerry Carlson and Mike and Karen Collins, much loved daughters- and sons-in-law. Brothers- and sisters-in-law Jack and Vonnie Carlson and Glen and Cheri Carlson. Phyllis and Gene's life together was very rich. Whether at their beach-front cabin in Poulsbo or at their home on Lake Washington the house was always full of friends and family people and with that much family how could it have not been. With their many travels to the far corners of the world, they enjoyed each and every day, each other, and their family to the very fullest extent possible. There will be a Memorial Service for Phyllis on Wednesday, November 14th, at 11 a.m. at the Acacia Funeral Home on Lake City Way, located between Kenmore and Lake City, and following the ceremony a Celebration of an awesome life will be at SCOTTLAND, the family compound. In lieu of flowers, please send any remembrances to the American Heart Association. (Obit dated 11/11/2001.)
