George Gregory GOMEZ
Lieutenant Colonel, Military Police Corps, United States Army Reserve, Retired; Lieutenant, City of Renton Police Department, Retired; and beloved husband of Treva Gomez and father of George, Tamara, and Joanne, died November 7, 2001 at Swedish Hospital in Seattle, Washington. He was 86 years of age. LTC Gomez, a resident of Tukwila, Washington was born June 24, 1915 in Orting, Washington and was a resident of Washington State from 1949 until his death, residing in the Duwamish-Allentown area. LTC Gomez served twenty-six years in the United States Army and United States Army Reserve and was a WWII and Koren War Veteran. His last post was Provost Marshal, 1395th Army Terminal Unit in the 124th Reserve Command, Fort Lawton, at Seattle, Washing ton. In June 2000, LTC Gomez was awarded the Korean War Service Medal by the Republic of South Korea in commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Korean War. He served two tours of duty in Korea. In addition to his military service, Mr. Gomez served as a City of Renton Police Officer for twenty-six years from 1950 to 1976, retiring from the force with the rank of Lieutenant. Mr. Gomez continued to contribute to law enforce ment beyond his retirement from Renton P.D. as a four-term President of the Washington State Retired Deputy Sheriff's and Police Officer's Association from 1986 through 1989. Mr. Gomez served his local Duwamish- Allentown area community as President of the Duwamish-Allentown Improvement Club from 1977-1979 and then again from 1982-1985. After the community was annexed by the City of Tukwila, Mr. Gomez served the City of Tukwila as a member of its Planning Commission from 1989 to 1993. Mr. Gomez lived his early life in Orting, Washington with his parents and three siblings. In 1919 after the death of his mother to the national flu epidemic, he was raised in Oakland California by adopted parents attending Oakland High School and then the San Jose Police School at San Jose State College in San Jose, California. Mr. Gomez entered law enforcement as a Motorcycle Patrol Officer with the Monterey, California Police Department and then later with the Menio Park Police Department. Mr. Gomez continued his studies as an adult learner, earning a Bachelor's Degree in criminology from the University of Puget Sound, Tacoma, Washington and a Associate Degree in Criminology from Highline Community College, Seattle, Washington. Mr. Gomez loved his family and pets dearly, was an avid Ham Radio operator, enjoyed the out doors, was a very loyal Husky and Mariner fan, loved his goats and cats, had great affection for all animals, was a real boxing fan, enjoyed reading biographies and history, and collected hats, stamps, coins, and bottles. Mr. Gomez is survived by numerous family members and friends who will miss him so dearly, including his wife Treva of Tukwila, Washington; son George Kelly and daughter-in-law Nancy of Gresham, Oregon; daughters Tamara Lynch of Tukwila, Washington and Joanne Silva of Campbell, California; step- daughter Bonnie Stepner of Moses Lake, Washington; step-son Steve Steiner of Auburn, Washington; and brother Vernon Kelley of Ventura, California. Mr. Gomez has numerous loving grandchildren including Nancy Marlott of Normal, Illinois, Erin Kelly of Gresham, Oregon, Tyler Lynch of Tukwila, Washington, Rhonda Fuller of Moses Lake, Washington, Jason Stepner of Auburn, Washington, and Christina and Emma Steiner of Auburn, Washington. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tues day, November 13th at Bonney Watson Washington Memorial Park, 16445 International Blvd., Sea Tac, Washington. The phone number is 206-242-1787. Graveside Services will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent and a reception will follow from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Tukwila Community Center. Morris N. GREENBERG
Born February 25, 1915 in Champaign, IL. passed away November 8, 2001 in Seattle, WA. Morris is survived by his daughter Sharon, of Seattle; son Alvin, of San Rafael, CA, and son David of Yavne'el, Israel; granddaughters Rebecca, Naomi, Carmel and Shoshana; and grandsons Ephraim and Naftali. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, November 11 at 2:30 p.m. at the Beth Shalom cemetery in Abbey View on Alaska Rd in Briar, WA. A man of great character, tolerance, and love, his quiet presence will be missed by all who knew him. IN LOVING MEMORY Bob was a life long resident of the Seattle area. Born January 24, 1932 in Seattle; passed away November 8, 2001 at home surrounded by his loving family. Bob attended O'Dea High School ('49) and Seattle University. He formed Space Control, Inc. an office partition manufacturing company in the early '60s. He began his career in building facilities as a supervisor at Boeing in 1965. He worked for Seattle Public Schools in the Facilities Department for 28 years serving as Supervisor of Operations and General Manager of Facilities. In his retirement Dad may have been happiest at his ranch. Whether it was wrestling cattle, digging wells, or planting flowers, his farm activities kept him young in spirit and enthusiastic about life. The world has never known a kinder more thoughtful man than Bob. His selfless nature, generous spirit, wry sense of humor, sincere commitment to education and his genuine love for people were inspirations to all who knew him. Bob will always be remembered for his big heart, his ability to encourage people, his creative mind and his love of life. Marc Lester GRIFFITHS
Age 35, of Yakima, passed away Monday, November 12, 2001, at Providence Yakima Medical Center. Marc was born November 7, 1966 in Yakima, to Donald R. Griffiths and Patricia Mae (Miller) Griffiths. He graduated from Nathan Hale High School in Seattle in 1985. Marc worked for U.S. West in Seattle for many years. He moved to Yakima in 1998, to reunite with his father. He worked at Providence Yakima Medical Center from September 1998 until May 2001. He had many friends who cared about him, loved him and supported him. Marc was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Tyrrell, in 1991. Survivors include his parents, Don and Kay Griffiths of Yakima; his sister, Kelli Fischer; his brothers, Dan Fischer and his wife Mary, and Richard Tyrrell; his niece, Carolyn Fischer and his nephew, Danny Fischer, all of Seattle, and several extended family members. Memorial Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2001, in the Chapel of Providence Yakima Medical Center. A gathering for family and friends, will follow at Providence Auditorium, 110 South 9th Ave., Yakima. A Memorial Service for Irene Haney, 82, of Mercer Island, will be held 4 p.m. Friday, November 16, 2001 at the Mercer Island Presbyterian Church, 3605 - 84th Ave. S.E., Mercer Island. Mrs. Haney died at The Care Center at Kelsey Creek on Monday, November 12, 2001. Mrs. Haney was born on July 29, 1919 in Seattle, the daughter of Clarence and Ruth Linhoff. She was raised in Seattle and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1937. She attended the University of Washington for three years. On May 17, 1941 she married
Vern R. Haney in Seattle. The couple recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. She and her husband have resided on Mercer Island since 1949. Mrs. Haney worked as a real estate agent and was a water front specialist on the Eastside. She eventually became one of the first members of the Million Dollar Club. Mrs. Haney enjoyed cooking and was an avid reader. For many years she was very involved in community activities including PTA and the Presbyterian Youth Fellowship Group. She and her husband were charter members of the Mercer Island Presbyterian Church. She also was a member of the League of Women Voters. Mrs. Haney is survived by her husband Vern, of Mercer Is land; two daughters, Patricia Anderson, of Bellevue, and Deborah Lichtenfeld, of Boca Raton, Florida; her brother Jack Linhoff, of Kennewick, Washington; and two grandchildren. Born May 16, 1925; died October 29, 2001. Devoted husband, caring father and loving grandfather. Survived by his wife of 51 years, Donna; children, Frank Hanna, Joanie Kohn and her husband, Peter, and Phil Hanna and his wife, Suz, and their children, Jeff and Schelene. Also survived by his cousin, Susan Brazier and her husband, Don. He was a Navy Veteran of W.W.II and owner with his wife of Donna's Homemade Ice Cream. Age 90, was born October 19, 1911 and passed away November 13, 2001, a life-long resident of Seattle. Beloved mother of Rolf Hansen; grandmother of Lisa and Noel Hansen and great-grandmother of Libby and Ashton Hansen.
Estelle was a member of Occidental Chapter #28 O.E.S., Past Worthy Matron, Ladies Oriental Shrine and Leif Erikson Lodge #1 Sons of Norway.

Margaret Lea HANSON
(1942 - 2001)
Margaret Hanson, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on November 1, 2001 after a courageous four-year battle with Melanoma cancer. She was born in Fairbanks, Alaska on November 12, 1942 to Wayne and Leta Brubacher. She graduated from Wallace High School in Wallace, Idaho in 1961 and then attended Wittworth College in Spokane. She married
Bob Hanson, May 1, 1964 in Seattle while working as a Fight Attendant for Pacific Northern Airlines. She was beautiful in heart and spirit as well as her uniform. Besides being a loving mother and wife, Margaret was a talented artist, calligrapher, and the co-author of three best selling antique pottery reference and value guides. It was her artistic talent she used in the books that not only makes them widely used as price guides, but also as Coffee Table Books. She was an exceptional kind giving and warm person who beamed happiness and caring for others. Bob and Margaret were a true team in every way, shape and form. She was considered a mother to far more people than her immediate family. She was often referred to as "Saint Margaret." Margaret is survived by her husband and "love of her life" Bob. Four loving children: Theron, Heidi, Hallie and Harper as well as two grandchildren, Hayden and Laine. All resides in the Seattle area. Her sisters also survive her: Joan and Gary Bertsch of Georgia, Chris Witt of Massachusetts and Linda and Lee Padberg of Oregon. Lastly her companion of 14 years her "Yorkie" dog Fergie. Margaret truly gave herself to her family and friends. She will be with us for the rest of our lives -- her face, her smile, her voice and her cry. To say she will be missed is a vast understatement, she will be remembered by all of us lucky enough to have met her and shared her precious time together. We love you Mama.
