Emilie Fredrika PUTT
Born in Spokane, WA. on November 23, 1915 to Norman Ned Pfifer and Selma Munger Pfifer, Emilie Putt passed away on November 7, 2001 in Seattle, WA. Her mother moved to Seattle with Emilie and her brother, Norman Ned Pfifer, after her father died. During World War II, she was a telephone operator in San Diego. She met and married
Charles Putt in 1943. During his service as a Marine, Emilie moved to Seattle and worked there as a Westinghouse telephone operator. Later she became a court clerk with King County Superior Court. She was Judge Warren Chan's court clerk for 18 years and retired in 1988. Her husband of 41 years died in 1984. Emilie loved collecting miniature perfume bottles and watching babies. She is survived by her nephew, James Pfifer of Whidbey Island, WA., and will be greatly missed by her many friends who knew and loved her. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, November 16, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. at Sunset Hills Memorial Park, 1575 - 145th Pl. S.E., Bellevue, WA. Beatrice L. READER
Sequim resident, died November 8, 2001 at age 89. Mrs. Reader was born April 5, 1912 in Dick ey, North Dakota to Emma and Adam Ebert. She had four sisters and one brother, all de ceased. She was married
to Paul Reader on Au gust 21, 1935 in Aberdeen, South Dakota. The Readers recently celebrated their 66th Anniversary with a family reunion at the Sequim Elks Club. The couple moved to Seattle, WA, in 1936. During WWII Beatrice worked in the shipyard as a journeyman sheet-metal worker. After the war ended she went to work for Fred Meyer for 10 years. After her husband's retirement from the Seattle Police Department, they moved to Sequim in 1968. Beatrice enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and doing needlework. Her hand quilted patchwork quilts won ribbons at the Clallam County Fair. She attended Faith Lutheran Church. Survived by her husband Paul Reader; and numerous nieces & nephews. Visitation Thursday, November 15th from 10 a. m. to 5 p.m. at Sequim Valley Chapel. Services Friday, November 16th at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 4th & Cedar in Sequim, WA, officiated by Pastor Shawn Hazel. Entombment in the Mausoleum at Mt. Angeles Memorial Park. Harold N. RITLAND
Born in Dodgeville, Wisconsin on June 26, 1923, Dr. Harold Nelson Ritland passed away November 4, 2001 from complications due to diabetes. Harold spent his early years in Wisconsin and Minnesota, graduating from St. Olaf College in 1944. After serving in the Navy, he earned his doctorate in physics at the University of Washington and astronomy at California Lutheran University, and worked at Corning Glass Works, Lockheed, Northrop, and Boeing. Harold left Boeing in 1976 and finished his career as a consultant, advising on defense issues and developing a reputation for unconventional thinking and concise writing. Harold married
Mavis I. Gordon in 1945, and moved to Seattle in 1949. After interludes in New York state and California, he returned with his family to the Northwest in 1964, residing in Bellevue, Seattle and most recently Issaquah. Harold loved the outdoors, enjoying skiing, hiking, and camping, inspiring in his children a love of the outdoors. He was generous with sharing his interests, resources, and point-of-view with those around him, as Scoutmaster, faithful Democrat and political observer, and devoted father. After retirement in the early 1990's, Harold resumed his boyhood passion for birdwatching, repeatedly visiting wildlife refuges coast- to-coast, building a lifelist that eventually exceeded 677 birds, including 336 in Washington state. Harold is survived by his sister Ruth Larson; five sons, Keith, Ken, Kermit (Carol), Kevin and Kerry, and seven grandchildren, Jessica, Kelsey, Lisa, Kyle, Laura, Kelvin, and Linnea. His charming and loving wife Mavis, and brothers Raymond and Cliff preceded him in death in 1984, 1952 and 1975, respectively. A Memorial Service and Reception will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 4315 129th Place S.E., Bellevue, WA. on Saturday, November 17 at 11 a.m. Family suggests that remembrances be made to the Seattle Audubon Society, 8050 35th Ave. N.E., Seattle, WA. 98115. Barbara Jean ROSSOS
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 16, 2001 in Lincoln Memorial Park Funeral Home in Portland, Oregon for Barbara Jean Rossos, who died November 10 at the age of 61. Barbara was born August 28, 1939 in Tacoma, Washington to Adam and Minnie Kluss. She moved to the Portland area in the fall of 1948. She retired in 1995 when she was working as a secretary for Centennial High School in Portland. In 1977, she married
Chris Rossos. Barbara loved gardening, especially flowers. She loved all kinds of flowers and loved tending to them. She also enjoyed crafts and traveling. She recently returned from a trip to Norway. Her favorite vacations spots were those spent in the sun, on the beach. The loved the ocean. Barbara's most prized and cherished thing to do was to spend time with her family, particularly her grandchildren. Barbara is survived by her husband, Chris; son, Steven Davis; daughters, Lynn Boyanovsky and Cheryl O'Neil; step-sons, Mark Rossos and Dan Rossos; brother, Walter Kluss; sister, Nancy Kluss; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Family ask that remembrances be to the American Heart Association. Interment

Willard G. (Bill) SCHEEVEL
Born November 25, 1914 went peacefully to be with the Lord at the age of 86 on November 11, 2001. He was a resident at Anderson House Assisted Living in Shoreline, WA. Before returning to Washington in May, he lived in Apache Junction, AZ. for 16 years following his retirement as an appliance serviceman from Conklin Appliance in Lynnwood, WA. Bill was a quiet, content person who loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all his heart. He is survived by his wife, Doris Scheevel, three sons, their wives and a daughter; Bill (Dorothy) Scheevel of Prescott, AZ., Larry (Virginia) Scheevel of Seal Beach, CA., David (Maxine) Scheevel of Woodinville, WA., and Charlotte Grooters of Lake Forest Park, WA. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, and four sisters, Mildred Miller of Preston, MN., Ethel Sears of LeRoy, MN., Dorene (Mrs. John) Speers of Rochester, MN., and Marlys Wiste of Stewartville, MN. preceded in death by sister Verna Vrieze.
