She was an avid fan from childhood of the Seattle Rainiers and all their successor teams, and dreamed of seeing the Mariners win the World Series. She enjoyed bowling, swimming, also she was a great gardener, going to nurseries and selecting plants for the yard, and took pains to learn the names of what she planted. She kept a beautiful house and yard. She treated herself to gambling trips in Reno. One of the highlights of her life was a trip she took by herself, in her 60s, to the South: Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi, just because she wanted to see what that part of the country was like. She was a voracious reader and crossword solver. She also made candles and tried her hand at painting. She had a beautiful sense of humor and kept it to the end (for example, mentioning in the hospital "Well, I don't have any money with me at the moment, but if I did I'd put it on the Diamondbacks.") We all loved her very much. At her request there were no services. She was buried at Evergreen Washelli cemetery on Aurora in Seattle. (Obit dated 11/12/2001.)
