Robert L. "Bob" Petty died January 28, 2003 at his Port Orchard, Washington home. He died of Mesothelioma (Abestos Cancer). He was 52.
He was born in Yakima, Washington April 3, 1950 to Clifford and Pauline (Wallbaum) Petty.

He graduated from South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard, Washington in 1969. He also attended Olympic College in Bremerton, Washington.
Bob worked at the Naval Shipyard for 29 years as a Rigger Supervisor in Shop 72.
He enjoyed fishing and yard work -as well as NASCAR Racing.
He is survived by his wife, Dianne (Anderson) Petty of Port Orchard, Washington; his mother, Pauline (Wallbaum) Petty of Port Orchard, Washington; son - Jerry Petty of Port Orchard, Washington; daughter - Jill Petty of the family home in Port Orchard; brothers - Ray Petty and Joe Petty (both of Port Orchard); sister - Gloria Erickson (and husband, Don) of Port Orchard.
A graveside service will be held February 1, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard, Washington.

Juanita Audrey Zetterberg

Juanita Audrey Zetterberg died January 20, 2003 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. She was 75.
She was born May 19, 1927 in Waldheim, Louisiana to Julius and Ethel (Quave) Heath.
She graduated from high school in Covington, Louisiana.

Robert S. Zetterberg November 29, 1947 in Yuma, Arizona.
She was employed as a telephone operator in California and in Mississippi.
She worked as secretary and operator with Crosby Forest Product in Picayune, Mississippi.
Juanita enjoyed needle work.
She was a Presbyterian.
Juanita is survived by son - Bruce Zetterberg of Bremerton, Washington; daughter-in-law - Krista Schmid of Bremerton, Washington; sister - Agnes Welch of Covington, Louisiana; and, by 2 grandchildren - Michael Zetterberg and Jennifer Craig. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. Zetterberg, a WWII veteran, and by her brother - Percy Heath.
A graveside service will be held at Washington Veteran's Home cemetery at Retsil, Washington on January 24, 2003 at 2:00 p.m.

Noralf Tweit died January 23, 2003 at Ridgemont Terrace in Port Orchard, Washington. He was 94.
He was born March 24, 1908 in a farm house west of Dazey, North Dakota to Andrew and Helena (Lagried) Tweit.
He attended school through the 8th grade in Dazey, North Dakota.

He worked at Puget Sound Naval Station in World War II. He was a union member of Abestos Worker Local #133 in North Dakota. He worked a total of 40 years - retiring in 1976.
Noralf was a member of Sons of Norway, Moose Club; loved to tinker in the garage; enjoyed reading and gardening.
He was a member of Lutheran Saint Olaf of Walum, North Dakota.
He is survived by his wife, Bessie "Taber" of Ridgemont Terrace; son - Mark A. Tweit (and wife Linda J. Tweit) of Port Orchard, Washington; brothers - Einer Tweit of Lewiston, Idaho, Harold Tweit of Valley City, North Dakota, Valborg Thomson of Devil's Lake, North Dakota; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 1 great/great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by: son, Lawrence Tweit; grandson, Glen Tweit; brothers - Ted and Olaf Tweit; sisters - Hjordis Paulsen and Annie Kloster.
Ronald John Zach

Ronald J. Zach died January 16, 2003 at St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma, Washington. He was 70.
He was born March 8, 1932 in Glidden, Wisconsin to Anton and Ann (Bauer) Zach.
He married
Elfie (Jones) Zach December 20, 1985 in Bremerton, Washington.
Ronald graduated from high school. He also graduated from Clover Park Community College of Tacoma, Washington in 1999.
He was U.S. Navy Retired; and, had served from 1949 to 1974. He attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer.
Ronald worked out of Bangor and Puget Sound Naval Station for 20 years as a D.C. Marine Electrician.
Most recently - and for the last four years - he was Chief Electrician in the Merchant Marines.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Elfie (Jones) Zach of the family home in Bremerton, Washington; daughters - Sandy Miller (and husband Roger) of Lucedale, Mississippi, Jennifer Rickmar (and husband Ronald) of Auburn, Washington, Debbie Robinson (and husband Shawn) of Port Orchard, Washington; sons - Michael Zach and Richard Cantu (and wife Jennifer) - all of Bremerton, Washington; brother - Ardel Zach of Estacada, Oregon; sisters - Bev Straetz of Glidden, Wisconsin and Judy Adams of Aloha, Oregon; grandchildren (12): David Robinson, Adam Robinson, Derik Robinson, Tiffany Miller, Samuel Rickmar, Benjamin Rickmar, Zachary Cantu, Hunter Cantu, Tyler Sims, Ramie Sims, Jamie Fannie and Joshua Sims.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2003 at 2:00 P.M. at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard, Washington.

George Martin Torrence

The Rev. Torrence was a past member of the board of trustees of Northwest Christian College, served as youth chairman of South Idaho Christian Churches, belonged to South Kitsap Ministerial Association and Bremerton Ministerial Association, was a former secretary of Port Orchard Kiwanis; and in his later years enjoyed serving on the Election Board.
He was an avid fly fisherman and hunter, and enjoyed hiking with church youth groups. He loved singing, and occasionally presented a "sermon in song".
Survivors include his wife, Leone, of Port Orchard; son, Steve, of Port Orchard; two daughters, Teri Emmons and husband Gene Emmons of Port Orchard, and Paula Willems and husband Greg Willems of Bainbridge Island: three grandchildren, Cheryl Siemens and husband Adam Siemens of Hansville, Robert Emmons of Port Orchard and Daniel Emmons of Port Orchard; sister, Betty Curtis of Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembrances to Northwest Christian College, 828 E 11th, Eugene, OR 97401, or Port Orchard, First Christian Church, 4885 SW Hovde Rd., Port Orchard, WA 98367.

The Rev. Martin Torrence of Port Orchard died January 17 at Ridgemont Terrace Convalescent Center. A former pastor of Port Orchard First Christian Church, he was 91. Memorial services will be held Friday, January 24, at the Port Orchard First Christian Church at 1:00 p.m.
Martin Torrence was born June 18, 1911, at Dryden, Washington, to George and Mary Luella Peters Torrence. He attended schools in Puyallup and Oroville, Washington, and Gridley, California, where he was graduated from high school. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and also worked as a professional actor and performer in a traveling troupe. At one time, he was employed as an usher by the Hegenback-Wallace Circus, later joining a lumber co-op which operated a sawmill in Oregon. in 1945 he enrolled in Northwest Christian College in Eugene, Oregon, studying to become a minister. During his student years he served as pastor in churches in Franklin, Dorena, Madras, and Crabtree, Oregon. He also attended Oregon State College. He was married
to Leone Canfield in 1946, and was graduated from Northwest Christian College in 1954.
He was pastor to churches in Payette and Kimberly, Idaho, before moving to Port Orchard in 1966, where he served at Port Orchard First Christian Church until his retirment in 1977. After living a few years in Lacey, Washington, the Torrences moved to Montana, where he served as interim pastor at churches in Columbia Falls and Whitefish. After returning to Washington, he also served as interim pastor at Westpark Christian Church and First Christian Church in Bremerton, retiring for the last time at age 81.

She is survived by her daughter - Kathleen Tittle of Port Orchard, Washington; sons - Bruce O'Connor of Seattle, Washington, Bill O'Connor of Aurora, Colorado, Greg O'Connor of Sherrard, Illinois, and Bob O'Connor of Cincinnati, Ohio; 5 grandchildren: Matthew O'Connor, Geoffrey O'Connor, Rachel O'Connor, Jessica Ward, Elizabeth O'Connor; 2 great-grandchildren: Brendon and Dillon Ward. She was preceded in death by: brothers - Jack and George Bishop and sister - Jeanette Dehner.
A visitation will be held at Rill Chapel of Port Orchard, Washington on Thursday, January 30, 2003 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Cincinnati, Ohio on Saturday, February 1, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. Interment
will be held at St. Stephen's cemetery in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky following the Mass, February 1, 2003.

He was born in Burnsville, North Carolina May 5, 1920 to Zachariah Spencer and Anne Elizabeth (Gibbs) Hamby.
He graduated from Burnsville High School of Burnsville, NC in 1939.
He married
in 1952 in Yarmouth, Mass.
He was in the Navy from 1940-1961. He was Senior Chief Gunners Mate and received the Good Conduct Award, Navy Occupation, American Defense, American Campaign, National Defense, China Service, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign, World War II Victory, Philippine Liberation Medal.
Fleet became a Planner/Estimater at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 14 years retiring in 1975.
He was a member of the VFW, Masonic Lodge and Pearl Harbor Survivors Association.
He is survived by son Curtis Hamby of Clallam Bay, WA., daughter Nadine Hamby of Seattle, WA., sister Edith Boone of Burnsville, NC., and 1 grandchild, Lyndzie Hamby. He was preceded in death by brother - Jim Hamby and sister - Connie Morgan.
Services will be held at Rill Chapel of Port Orchard, WA. Friday June 28, 2002 at 2:00 p.m.

Mr. Glenn Svac, Age:77, resident of Port Orchard, died at his home on January 3, 2002.
He was born on February 24, 1924, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Andrew and Elizabeth(Dvorak)Svac.
He attended Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis, graduating in 1942.
Mr. Svac served in the United Staes Air Force for four years. On April 17, 1948 he married
Alice Jedlicka in Clarissa, Minnesota.
Glenn made his career as Deputy Director of Purchasing at Puget Sound Naval Supply Center, Bremerton, Washington, retiring in 1976.
He enjoyed photography and the love and company of his family. He was a member of the Lutheran faith.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Alice; son, Chuck, and his wife, Lorraine, of Olalla, Washington; daughter, Mary(Svac)Schroeder and her husband Phil, of Tacoma, Washington; brother, Vernon Svac of Saint Paul, Minnesota; sisters, Ann Mellgren and Elsie Hardin of Minneapolis; six grandchildren-Aaron, Alison, Nicole, Randall, Paul and Maureen. He was preceded in death by brothers Edward, Andrew, George and John Svac.
A graveside memorial in Mr. Svac's honor will take place on January 9, 2002, at 2:00 p.m., at Haven of Rest cemetery in Gig Harbor. The family has asked that any memorial donations be made to Hospice of Kitsap County, Post Office Box 3416, Silverdale, Washington, 98383; or a Children's Hospital of your choice.
