Ervin Heath
Former Bremerton resident Ervin H. Heath, 77, died May 25, 1999, in Sequim.
He was born Nov. 1, 1921, to Ernest and Mary Helen (Rukas) Heath in Sequim. He was raised and educated through high school in Sequim. He graduated from the College of Forestry at the University of Washington in 1951.
On Nov. 5, 1945, he married
Jean Anderson in Los Angeles.
Mr. Heath served in the Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1945. Later, he worked as assistant forester at the Pysht Tree Farm until 1961, when he moved to Bremerton. There, he worked for the city of Bremerton as forester and water supply supervisor, setting up selective logging on the watershed and coordinating the building of Gold Mountain Golf Course before retiring in 1981. He moved back to Sequim upon retirement.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Steven of Pasco, Larry of Corvallis, Ore., and John of Bremerton; a brother, Ernest of San Diego; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
At his request, there will be no services. Burial will be at Dungeness cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Sequim Valley Chapel.
Frank Peake
Frank Henry Peake, 90, of Bremerton died May 26, 1999, at Ridgemont Terrace Care Center.
He was born Dec. 27, 1908, to Francis and Martha (Hoffee) Peake in Leavenworth. He was raised in Seattle.
He married
Alice (Ramm) in Seattle.
Mr. Peake was a joiner at Keyport Naval Station, retiring in 1969.
Survivors include a son, Mark of Belfair; two daughters, Kathy Ann Viegutz of Port Orchard and Sharie J. Hills of Orland, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1995 and his son, Gary.
There will be no services. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Peter Jensen
Peter J. Jensen, 84, of Bremerton died of natural causes May 25, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Oct. 30, 1914, to George C. and Helen (Miller) Jensen in McMinnville, Ore. He was raised in Grand Island, Ore.
On Oct. 25, 1941, he married
Ruth Rose in Portland, Ore.
Mr. Jensen worked as a sheet-metal technician at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 20 years, retiring in 1971.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Kris Ellis of Belfair; a daughter, Freda Ellis of Belfair; four brothers, Ernest of Sultan, James of Grapeview, Claude of Belfair and Vada of Vancouver; four grandchildren, Tabitha, LeeAnne, Bridget and Ivan, all of Belfair; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son, John Peter, in 1987.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, with a funeral service immediately following at Miller-Woodlawn Chapel.
A graveside service will follow the funeral service at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Betty Hodgson
Betty Hodgson, 92, of Bainbridge Island died of heart failure May 13, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Oct. 6, 1906, to Howard and Harriet (Attridge) Cox in Hoquiam. She was raised in Hoquiam, graduating from Hoquiam High School in 1925.
Mrs. Hodgson worked as an Army court recorder during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952 in Tokyo and Hokkiado, Japan.
After returning to the United States, she was employed with Veterans Administration in Seattle, then Broderick Realty on Bainbridge Island. She volunteered at Children's Orthopedic Hospital after her retirement.
Survivors include a son, Melvin Morgan of Huntington, N.Y.; two grandsons, Richard and Kenneth; and a great-granddaughter, all of New York. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard.
At her request, there will be no services.
Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Grace Purdum
Grace Burgess Purdum, 94, of Bremerton died May 23, 1999, at Belmont Terrace Convales-cent Center.
She was born Sept. 8, 1904, in Saint Andrew, Jamaica, to Brooks C. and May (Schar-schmidt) Bicknell. She grew up in Victoria, British Columbia, later moving to Port Angeles where she attended secondary school.
She married
Alva Burgess on Jan. 9, 1925, in Port Angeles. They moved to Bremerton in 1942. Mr. Burgess preceded her in death April 15, 1968.
She married
Art Purdum on Feb. 5, 1976. He preceded her in death Jan. 16, 1982.
She worked for a number of years as a sales clerk at the original Bremer's Department Store. She was a member of the World War I Ladies Auxiliary, Order of the Eastern Star, the Mother Singers and the Manette Community Church.
Survivors include a son, Robert M. Burgess of Bremerton; a sister, Hazel Brock of Edmonds; seven grandchildren, Don of Dickerson, Md., Andy of Roseburg, Ore., Jana of Spokane, Tom of Taipei, Taiwan, Scott of Mountain Home, Idaho, Mark of Anchorage, Alaska, and Kim of Fairbanks, Alaska; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Noel and Ray; a sister, Patricia; two sons, Donald and Douglas; and a grandson, Timothy.
A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park.

Victrina Sabado
Former Bremerton resident Victrina B. Sabado, 28, died May 23, 1999, at her home in Tacoma.
She was born Dec. 2, 1970, in Bremerton to Ricki and Linda (Jones) Sabado. She was raised in Bremerton and attended North Kitsap High School.
Survivors include her fiance, Dino Marzano; her mother, Linda Sabado of Tacoma; her father and stepmothers, Ricki and Kristie Sabado, both of Poulsbo, and Lela Milo; six brothers, Ricky and Michael, both of Tacoma, and Stephen, Bugs, Che and Damian, all of Bremerton; three sisters, Chrissy of Tacoma, Jena of Seattle and Laura of Bremerton; her grandmother, Mary Jane Jones of Bremerton; and her great-grandmother, Marie Watson of Port Orchard.
Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Friday with a funeral service immediately following, both at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
A graveside service will follow at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Marie Hermoso
Marie A. Hermoso, 34, of Bremerton died after a 10-year battle with cancer May 25, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Jan. 17, 1965, in Cebo City, Philippines, to Leonard B. and Maria (Medalle) Sanchez. She was raised in Butte, Mont., until age 6, when she moved to Yakima. She graduated from Davis High School in 1984, and from Yakima Valley College in 1987.
She was a volunteer for the Knights of Columbus Women.
Survivors include her parents; three brothers, Herodin of Bremerton, Leonard of Fantana, Calif., and Oscar of Silverdale; four sisters, Rosie of Baltimore, Md., Judith and Connie, both of Olympia, and Lorraine of Tri-Cities; and her grandmother, Feofila Medalle.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday with rosary recitation at 11 a.m., both at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Interment will be at Ivy Green cemetery with a gathering immediately following at Holy Trinity.
Arrangements are under the direction of Tuell-McKee Funeral Home.
Alice Loomis
Alice Mae Loomis, 90, of Poulsbo died May 21, 1999, at Martha & Mary Nursing Home.
She was born Feb. 7, 1909, in Los Angeles to Charles and Anna (Kreikbaum) Brown. She was raised and educated in Los Angeles, graduating from Manual Arts High School in 1927.
In April 1941, she married
Albert M. Loomis III in Los Angeles. He preceded her in death in 1986.
Mrs. Loomis worked from 1927 to 1941 as a seamstress for exclusive boutiques that catered to Hollywood film studios and many movie stars. She also was a figure model for clothing worn by celebrities in Hollywood films.
She was a member of the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles and many garden clubs in Carmel, Calif., including Del Mesa Carmel from 1971 to 1998.
Survivors include a son, Bert of Port Ludlow; a daughter, Katherine of Pacific Palisades, Calif.; and three grandchildren, David Burke of Manhattan Beach, Calif., Daniel Burke of Los Angeles and Michael Burke of Santa Barbara, Calif. She was preceded in death by a son, John David, in 1944, and a brother, Jack Brown.
Inurnment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, Calif.
Arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, "The Stone Chapel."
Juanita Davis
Longtime Union resident Juanita Davis, 88, died May 22, 1999, in Seattle.
She was born April 8, 1911, in Portland, Ore., to George and Louise Cheseldine.
She married
H.M. Davis in Hermosa Beach, Calif. He preceded her in death in 1998.
She is survived by a daughter, Judith L. Davis.
Lynne Lufborough
Lynne Harry Lufborough, 95, of Bremerton died of congestive heart failure and pneumonia on May 22, 1999, at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center.
He was born Sept. 25, 1903, to Harry and Lillian (Smith) Lufborough in Sands Springs, Neb. He was raised and educated in Montana, graduating from high school in 1923.
On July 4, 1954, he married
Lois Fluent at Unity Church in Bremerton.
Mr. Lufborough homesteaded a ranch in Montana until 1934; was the foreman for dam construction in Fort Peck, Mont., from 1934 to 1940; worked as a pipefitter at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard from 1941 to 1965; and volunteered at Camp Oak Patch in Belfair from 1966 to 1977.
He is survived by three grandchildren, Kathy Stapleton of Bremerton, Kelly Stapleton of Tokyo, Mo., and Kelsey Atkielski of Peoria, Ariz.; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1990; two brothers, Ralph and Ray; and one sister, Ethel Culver.
A private family service will be at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
