Terry Schoppaul
Terry L. Schoppaul, 68, of Port Orchard died May 22, 1999, at Madigan Army Hospital in Tacoma.
She was born May 8, 1931, to Frederick and Frances Lakosky in Loyal, Wis.
On June 13, 1960, she married
Richard Schoppaul in Laplata, Md.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Dawn Dreiling of Los Angeles; a brother, Frederick "Butch" Lakosky of Hollywood, Fla.; a sister, Mary Huey of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and a grandson, David Dreiling of Sonoma County, Calif.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Rill Chapel. Inurnment will be in Miami, Fla..
Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist at Rill Chapel.
Glen Miller
Glen Harding Miller, 77, of Allyn, died May 21, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Aug. 3, 1921, to Alva and Esther (Onberg) Miller in Isle, Minn. He was raised in Milbank, S.D., and graduated from Milbank High School in 1942.
Mr. Miller served in the National Guard and then was in the Army. He returned to school after a medical discharge. Later, he worked at Todd Pacific Shipyards during World War II and then for the Mason County Public Utility District 3 in 1946, retiring from there in 1975.
On Aug. 7, 1943, he married
Phyllis (Meyer) Miller in Tacoma.
He was a member of the Belfair Community Baptist Church and was a charter member of the Shelton Elks Club.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Doug of Bremerton and Gary of McKenna; a brother, Alva of Seattle; three grandchildren, Kevin, Mark and Zachery; and two great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
At his request, there will be no services. Cremation will be at Cherry Grove Memorial Park with inurnment at Twin Firs cemetery in Belfair. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Thelma Engebretson
Thelma L. Engebretson, 86, of Poulsbo died May 22, 1999, at Martha and Mary Nursing Home.
She was born June 16, 1912, in Bend, Ore. She moved to Bremerton in 1920, graduating from Bremerton High School. She obtained her master's degrees from the University of Washington and from Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif.
She began her teaching career at Washington Junior High School in Bremerton in 1933, later moving to Bremerton High School in 1935.
Ms. Engebretson served in the Women's Army Corps from 1943 until leaving as a first lieutenant in 1945.
After her time in the Army, Ms. Engebretson was active in the start-up of Olympic College in 1946 and taught there until her retirement in 1973.
She is survived by her brother, Harold of Longbranch.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Summit Avenue Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lorraine Carter Scholarship Fund to benefit students at Olympic College.
Gladys Chambers
Gladys M. (Barcklay) Chambers, 77, of Silverdale died May 14, 1999, at her family home.
She was born Aug. 5, 1921, to Calvin and Jessie Barcklay in Ione. She was raised and educated in Ione.
On Nov. 24, 1937, she married
Wallace Chambers in Ione.
She was a member of Golden Star (Marysville chapter), American Association of Retired Persons and Nile Temple (as a widow). She also had helped at the soup kitchen in Marysville.
She is survived by three grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons, Herbert and Thomas Chambers.
A service was held Friday. Arrangements were under the direction of Evergreen Funeral Home in Everett.
Memorials may be made to Kitsap County Diabetics, Silverdale Fire District, Medic Unit, Northwoods Lodge or Breidablik Baptist Church Poulsbo Building Fund.
Cathryn Lause
Cathryn Aileen Lause, 89, of Silverdale died May 23, 1999, in Bremerton.
She was born April 28, 1910, to Alfred and Katy Rosenquist in Lincoln, Neb. She was raised in Montana and graduated from Western Normal School (now known as Western Washington University) in 1934.
In 1935, she married
Barry Lause in Longview.
Mrs. Lause was an elementary schoolteacher and a homemaker.
She was a member of the Central Kitsap Presbyterian Church, the Ladies' Elks and a bridge club.
Survivors include a son, Robert of Silverdale; three sisters, Nixola Vance and Carlene Schmitt, both of Montana, and Gen Willey of Tacoma; four grandchildren, Cathy Harry of Silverdale, Jannese O'Daniel of Salem, Ore., Shelley Day of Port Orchard and Mark of Vancouver, Wash.; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995 and her daughter, Sharon Fergason, in 1991.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Central Kitsap Presbyterian Church.

Richard Wright
Richard William Wright, 86, of Allyn died May 21, 1999, at Port Orchard Care Center.
He was born Aug. 31, 1912, to Berry and Inez (DeHarte) Wright in Rockport, Ind. He was raised in Yakima and the Yakima Valley region, attending grade school and high school in Wapato. He also attended the U.S. Naval Academy for two years.
On Jan. 21, 1934, he married
Margaret Ley in Wapato.
Mr. Wright served in the Navy until 1931, being discharged as seaman second class. Later, he worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as a naval architect and the No. 1 naval weapons placement and ammunition storage expert for more than 30 years, retiring in 1970.
He was a member of the Bremerton Elks.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Richard of Las Vegas, Nev., and James of Norwich, Conn.; a daughter, Nancy B. Lindenberg of Friday Harbor; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A service was held Monday at Haven of Rest cemetery and Funeral Home. Arrangements were under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Allen Mathes
James "Allen" Floyd Mathes, 62, of Bremerton died May 23, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Sept. 4, 1936, to Jimmie and Alta (Blevins) Mathes in Concho, Okla. He was raised in Kitsap and Mason counties.
On April 22, 1961, he married
Betty Long in Touchet.
He was a member of the Lions Club in Oregon and the Citizen Band Potawatomi Tribe of Oklahoma.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Kenneth Alan of Olalla; a daughter, Loreen Alta Koller of Bremerton; six brothers; four sisters; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Chester Lynn Mathes.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, followed immediately by a funeral service. Both will be held at Rill Chapel. Interment
will be at Fraola cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist at Rill Chapel.
Shirley Matkins
Shirley G. Matkins, 65, of Sultan and Belfair died May 18, 1999, in Sultan at her home.
She was born Nov. 4, 1933, in Seattle.
She is survived by her son, Kelly Matkins of Snohomish; two daughters, Debbie Casey and Robyn Seng, both of Sultan; a stepson, Steve Matkins of California; a brother, Craig Hansen of Bothell; three sisters, Jane Fritch of Clearview, Gail Gullickson of Mountlake Terrace and Stevie Krause of Union; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen R. Matkins Sr., a son, Glen Ray Matkins Jr., and stepdaughter Victoria Gingrey.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Sultan cemetery.

Lorraine Puderbaugh
Lorraine D. Puderbaugh, 79, of Bremerton died May 16, 1999, at her home.
She was born Feb. 24, 1920, in Timmer, N.D., to Vera (Finch) and Maurice W. Casteel. She was raised and educated in Bremerton, graduating from Bremerton High School in 1939.
That same year, she married
Harry C. Puderbaugh in Bremerton. He preceded her in death in 1994.
Mrs. Puderbaugh was a member of the Westside Improvement Club and the Pacers CB Club.
Survivors include a son, Michael of New Castle, Wash.; a daughter, Donna Johnsen of Bremerton; four brothers, Byrl and Wayne, both of Shelton, Morey of Port Orchard and Marvin of Yuma, Ariz.; two sisters, Leah Winkel of Bremerton and Elaine Clark of Seattle; and four grandchildren, Lisa Johnsen of Seattle, Tanya Johnsen of Silverdale and Brian and Michael Puderbaugh, both of New Castle.
A celebration of life for Harry and Lorraine Puderbaugh will be from 2 to 5 p.m. June 6 at the Westside Improvement Club.
Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
