Dorothy Qualls
Dorothy Elizabeth Qualls, 90, of Bremerton died May 6, 1999, at her home.
She was born Feb. 15, 1909, in Finley, N.D, to Albert and Alice (Hetherington) Horner.
Survivors include a son, Ronald Olson of Marysville; a daughter, Pat Wallace of Port Orchard; seven grandchildren, Michelle Adamski, Brenda Hawkins and Lisa Peterson, all of Bremerton, Steve White of Port Orchard and Greta Stevens, Erica Olsen and Krista Geiger, all of Marysville; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Qualls.
A funeral service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Lawrence Barrow
Lawrence M. Barrow, 66, of Allyn died May 6, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born May 9, 1932, in Gypson, Colo., to Walter and Olive (Ault) Barrow. His early childhood was spent in Colorado. He later lived in Sumner and attended Sumner High School.
On Nov. 22, 1958, he married
Verna Rice in Orting.
Mr. Barrow served in the Army from 1951 to 1953. He later worked as an electrician at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard from 1964 to 1992.
He was a member of Allyn Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, J.A. Barrow of Key Center, Kathy Lyman of Port Orchard, Sherri Boyle of Bremerton and Laurie Dawson of Yakima; and six grandchildren, Kyle, Nicole, Alicia, Chris, Kelly and Chastity.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Allyn Baptist Church, 221 Lakeland Drive. Cremation will be under the direction of Cherry Grove Memorial Park.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Donovan Nordeen
Donovan B. Nordeen, 65, of Bremerton died May 7, 1999, at Harrison Hospital following a lengthy illness.
He was born July 4, 1933, in Plainview, Neb., to Carl O. and Ruby L. (Johnson) Norden.
On Jan. 30, 1952, he married
Elizabeth Van Oss.
Mr. Nordeen served in the Navy during the Korean War. He worked as a barber for many years and most recently worked as a sociology instructor at Olympic College.
He was a member of Elks Lodge 1181, a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 239, American Legion Post 68 and Fleet Reserve Association Branch 29. He also was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Robert of Silverdale, Blair of Bremerton and Kevin of Edmonds; two daughters, Carla Dashiell and Kimberly Williams, both of Port Orchard; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ashley Williams.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday with a funeral service immediately following, both at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Refreshments will follow the services.
Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Basil Kempf
Basil Duke Kempf, 74, of Bremerton died May 9, 1999, at his home.
He was born Jan. 20, 1925, in Clovis, N.M., to Ernest and Edna (Thurman) Kempf. He was raised in Clovis and graduated from Ranchdale High School.
On June 25, 1948, he married
Joyce Harms in Ajlune, Wash.
Mr. Kempf worked as a pipe insulator and lagger supervisor for 34 years at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1990.
He was a member of the Westpark Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Melvin of Port Angeles and Larry of Bremerton; a daughter, Marilyn Lyden of Port Orchard; three sisters, Louise Elliot, Willie Reid and Hallie Richardson, all of New Mexico; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Louise, in 1984.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Westpark Christian Church, First Street and Auto Center Way.
Cremation will be at Cherry Grove with inurnment at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

William Morton
William Ronald Morton, 48, of Poulsbo died May 6, 1999, in Issaquah.
He was born Jan. 26, 1951, in Queens, N.Y.
Mr. Morton worked as a superintendent for Wagner Construction Co.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Kathleen (Stalnecker) Morton; and two sons, William Jr. of Seattle and Matthew of Spokane.
A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Kosec Funeral Home in Port Townsend.

Fred Marks-Marquardt
Former Bremerton resident Fred Marks-Marquardt, 32, died May 5, 1999, as the result of an accident in Dunsmuir, Calif.
He was born Feb. 7, 1967, in La Mesa, Calif. He was raised and educated in Merrimack, N.H.
On June 25, 1988, he married
Kris Markian.
In 1994, he moved to the Bremerton area to be closer to his family. He resided in the Bremerton area until his recent move to Dunsmuir.
Survivors include his father, Al Marks of Dunsmuir; his mother and stepfather, Sue and Ed Marquardt of Bremerton; two sons, Jacob and Shea, both of Nashua, N.H.; a brother, E.J. Marquardt of Port Orchard; a sister, Elizabeth Clark of Washington, D.C.; and his maternal grandparents, Robert and Marlene Bock of Hansville.
A celebration of his life will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Silverdale Methodist Church, 9982 Silverdale Way at the corner of Silverdale Way and Ridgetop.
Agnes Wallace
Agnes M. Wallace, 90, of Bremerton died of natural causes in Port Orchard on May 7, 1999.
She was born in Rockford, Ill., on Oct. 14, 1908, and was raised there.
She retired in 1971 from the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard commissary, where she had worked for nine years. Prior to that, she worked at the Westpark Market under four different owners from 1938 to 1962.
The former Agnes Skrinski, she married
John Wallace in Long Beach, Calif., on Jan. 2, 1931. He died in 1957.
She is survived by son David Wallace of Port Orchard and grandchildren Jacob Wallace of Bremerton and Gregg Wallace of Portland, Ore. A son, John, and 12 siblings preceded her in death.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Emmitt Kraft
Emmitt Edward Kraft, 85, died May 7, 1999, at Bremerton Convalescent Center.
He was born April 26, 1914, in Turtle Lake, N.D., to Emmitt E. and Reuby R. (Sparlding) Kraft.
He married
Clara Frank in 1944.
Mr. Kraft enlisted in the Army in 1942 and saw duty in Europe, North Africa and the Orient, retiring as a warrant officer in 1960. During World War II, he was attached to the 3485th Ordinance.
He moved to Bremerton from Colorado Springs, Colo., in 1969 and worked as a machinist at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
He was a member of the Kitsap Chapter of the Good Sams Club.
On Dec. 30, 1971, he married
Ruth Mary Lantz in Bremerton.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Emmitt Joe Kraft of Texas; a daughter, Kathy Poland of California; three stepdaughters; three sisters; three brothers; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rill Chapel.

Malcolm Moisan
Malcolm "Mal" Dion Moisan, 47, of Kingston died May 6, 1999, at the Care Center at Kelsey Creek in Bellevue.
He was born June 11, 1951, in Portland, Ore.
He was raised and educated in Richmond and Sonoma, Calif., moving to Bend, Ore., in 1969, where he graduated from North Bend High School.
From 1969 to 1980, he served in the Coast Guard, and saw duty in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans and on ice breakers at the North and South poles. He also was stationed in San Francisco for five years.
On Aug. 15, 1991, he married
Tammi Lea King in Kingston.
Mr. Moisan worked aboard the Washington State ferries for 17 years, most recently as an oiler on the Kingston-Edmonds run.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a stepson, Tim Larson of Kingston; a stepdaughter, Nicole Gardner of Brier; a brother, Mark of Bend; a sister, Margaret Reiman of Santa Rosa, Calif.; and his father, Malcolm F. Moisan of Sonoma, Calif.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Bayside Community Church in Kingston with cremation at the Cherry Grove Crematory under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary.
