Helen White
Longtime Bremerton resident Helen Chase White, 94, died April 30, 1999, at Belmont Terrace Nursing Home.
She was born Dec. 12, 1904, in Big Springs, Neb.
On Nov. 11, 1945, she married John White in Bremerton. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. White worked as an assistant manager for Foster Lumber Yard in St. Louis and then as a control clerk for the Army Service Forces in Ogden, Utah, and in Seattle.
She is survived by her stepdaughter, Sandra Ash of Benicia, Calif.
At Mrs. White's request, no services will be conducted.
Inurnment will be at the International Order of Odd Fellows cemetery in Corvallis, Ore.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

James Fish
Longtime Bremerton resident James H. Fish, 63, died May 1, 1999, at his home.
He was born Feb. 5, 1936, in Seattle to Ruby and William H. Fish. He was raised and educated in Bremerton.
On Aug. 14, 1963, he married Molly in Anchorage, Alaska.
Mr. Fish served in the Army from 1958 to 1962. He later worked for 30 years at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as a rigger in Shop 72, retiring in February.
He also spent time as an emergency medical technician and a volunteer fireman.
Survivors include his wife; a son, William H. Fish II of Bremerton; and a sister, Ruby Isaacson of Quartzsite, Ariz.
No services are scheduled.
Arrangements are under the direction of Tuell-McKee Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kitsap County, P.O. Box 3416, Silverdale, WA 98383.

Lettie Magee
Lettie Louise Magee, 98, of Retsil died of natural causes May 1, 1999.
She was born Feb. 26, 1901, in Sedro Wooley to Charles and Rubee (Smith) Brown. She was raised in Mount Vernon and on Vashon Island, where she attended high school.
On Aug. 28, 1920, she married Ray Miner. In July 1946, she married Howard Magee. He preceded her in death in 1974.
Mrs. Magee was a retired member of Local 240 Waitress Union in Seattle. She also was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Eagles.
Survivors include a son, Frank Miner of Friday Harbor; two daughters, Anita Benn of Port Ludlow and Aloha Streutker of Port Orchard; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five sisters, one brother and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. May 22 at the Retsil Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the Retsil Chapel Fund.

Donald Glenn
Donald "Tank" Eugene Glenn, 39, of Bremerton died May 1, 1999, in Tacoma.
He was born April 8, 1960, in Bremerton to Kenneth and Wanda (Davidson) Glenn. He was raised and educated in Bremerton, graduating from Bremerton High School in 1979.
Mr. Glenn worked as a cab driver until he was medically retired.
He volunteered as Santa Claus and coached Pee-wee baseball for many years.
Survivors include his mother; six brothers, Kenneth of Utah, and James, Michael, Stephen, Patrick and Richard, all of Bremerton; and two sisters, Doris O'Brien of Kenai, Alaska, and Patricia Hargrave of Port Orchard.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, also at Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Cremation arrangements by Cherry Grove Memorial Park.
Memorial donations may be made to the Department of Fish and Wildlife, 600 Capital Way N, Olympia, WA 98501.

Joan Swedback
Joan Merlene Swedback, 63, of Bremerton died May 4, 1999, at her home.
She was born May 31, 1935, in Baggs, Wyo., to Joseph and Marjorie (Layton) Weber. She was raised in Wyoming until the age of 9, when the family moved to Tacoma. She was educated in Tacoma, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1953. Following high school, she attended the nursing program at Tacoma Vocational School.
On Feb. 21, 1958, she married Ronald L. Swedback in Bremerton.
Before her marriage, she worked as a licensed practical nurse. Following her marriage, Mrs. Swedback worked at Mark's Flowers for many years.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Kim Coffman and Wendy Ellis, both of Bremerton; two sisters, Laura Jean Shannon and Barbara Terwilliger, both of Tacoma; and three grandchildren, Haylee and Samantha Ellis and Rachael Coffman. She was preceded in death by a son, Brian.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, with funeral services following at 1 p.m., all at Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Interment will be at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Arrangements are under Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Donna Whitby
Former Port Orchard resident Donna June Whitby, 83, died May 1, 1999.
She was born Feb. 2, 1916, in Port Orchard.
Mrs. Whitby was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and past matron of Amaranth Chapter in Bremerton Court.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond Whitby; two sons, Dave of Gig Harbor and Jim of Port Orchard; a brother, Harold Davis of Silverdale; a sister, Georgia Moore of Sequim; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Haven of Rest Chapel in Gig Harbor. Inurnment will be at Haven of Rest Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Ted Gray
Alfred "Ted" Gray, 69, of Bremerton died April 27, 1999, in Bremerton.
He was born March 17, 1930, in Tulsa, Okla., to Alfred and Thelma (Brown) Gray. He was raised in Alaska.
On June 23, 1957, he married Jean Salting in Wasilla, Alaska. She preceded him in death in 1986.
Mr. Gray served in the Navy as a firefighter during the Korean War. He worked as a U.S. marshall in Alaska, then as a firefighter in Alaska and at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Naval Submarine Base Bangor. He also worked as a mechanic for Haselwood Buick-Pontiac from 1969 to 1980, and then as a security officer from 1980 to 1994, when he officially retired.
He was a member of the Kitsap Way Denny's Old Timers Coffee Club and the West Sound Salmon Anglers Club.
Survivors include a son, Michael of Poulsbo; a daughter, Leona Molestad of Tacoma; and four grandchildren, Elijah Meigs of Port Orchard and Stefanie Davis, Lionel Davis and Paul Molestad, all of Tacoma.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Ima Roswell
Ima Lurene Roswell, 76, of Retsil died April 29, 1999, at the Washington Veterans Home.
She was born July 23, 1922, in Texarkana, Texas, to James Henry and Mamie (Durham) Roswell. She was raised and educated in Texarkana.
Mrs. Roswell served in the Army during 1945. She received the World War II Victory Medal. She later worked at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Portland, Ore., for more than 30 years. She retired in 1986.
She was a member of the American Legion in El Cerino, Calif.
Survivors include two daughters, Glenda Griner of Seabeck and Sherry Plyler of Bainbridge Island; four brothers, Charles of Colorado, Ottis of Utah and Wayne and Calvin, both of White City, Ore.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Eagle Point National cemetery in Eagle Point, Ore.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the Washington Veterans Home, 1141 Beach Drive, Retsil, WA 98378.

Elizabeth Clark
Elizabeth Lucy Clark, 79, of Silverdale died May 3, 1999, in Bremerton.
She was born May 18, 1919, in Great Falls, Mont., to Alfred and Dorothy (Herring) Muller. She attended schools in both Oregon and California.
In 1937, she married Clyde "Ned" Gotchall in Vancouver, Wash. They were later divorced.
Mrs. Clark was employed for 30 years in the Oregon State Civil Services System as a nurse, state corrections parole, probation officer and counselor. After her retirement in 1984, she moved to Kitsap County.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ward Six, in Silverdale.
Survivors include a son, Terry Gotchall of Bremerton; a daughter, Patricia Lynn Gotchall of El Cerrito, Calif.; four grandchildren, Tracy and Teresa Gotchall, both of Bremerton, and Kris and James Fincher, both of Kent; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ward Six, 11070 Old Frontier Road NW, Silverdale. Entombment will be at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
