Alma Ophelia French
April 25, 1916 - March 30, 2000
Services: ,
Alma Ophelia French, age 83, died March 30, 2000 in Bremerton, WA.
She was born April 25, 1916 in Plant, Arkansas to Henry Isaac Perkins and Amanda Penzil Simmons.
Hard working and perservering, this wonderful woman with a heart of gold devoted her entire adult life tending to the needs of her family often neglecting her own.
Her material possessions were adequate, but her true wealth came from the love and respect her family felt for her.
She has also touched the hearts of many others who have come into her life throughout the years.
Short in stature and slightly built, she still somehow mustered up the stamina to achieve a man's work feeding the farm animals at age 72, loving and caring for them like children.
She also displayed affection for cats, especially her Abbey.
She loved to go fishing; and, often was reminiscent of childhood adventures trapping and hunting squirrel and possum.
However, her one true enjoyment from life was her trips to Tahoe.
Her life long stubborn streak diminished during her last few years of life; but, her love for down home southern cooking never did.
She will be truly missed, and has left a large hole in the hearts of her loved ones.
She is survived by her 4 children; Betty Sewell of Alameda, CA; Freda French of Port Orchard, WA; Billy W. French of Folsom, CA; and Ulanda French of Redding, CA; 12 grandchildren, Curtis W. Sewell of Selma, CA; Randall S. Sewell of Prather, CA; Steven French of Las Vegas, NV; Billy K. French of Redding, CA; Penny L. French of Kingsburg, CA; Michael Denney of Fresno, CA; Keri Hitter of Fresno, CA; Cheryl Ensign of Visalia, CA; Gary French of Visalia, CA; Jera-Lynn R. Wodehouse of Alameda, CA; Brandi Huft of Post Falls, ID; and Kristie Brouhard of Sanpoint, ID; 17 great grandchildren, and 3 siblings, Delia Jane Norman of Auburn, CA; Norma Jo Norman of Delhi, CA; and Henry Scott Perkins of Auburn, CA.
May God reward and bless her for contributions made while here on earth.
