Hazel Taylor
Hazel Edene Taylor, 86, of Gig Harbor died June 19, 1999, at Cottes More Nursing Home in Gig Harbor.
She was born Feb. 27, 1913, in Santa Barbara, Calif., to Robert and Leonora (Saunders) Spencer. She grew up in California, graduating from Santa Barbara High School in 1931.
She married
Francis M. "Pat" Taylor on Dec. 20, 1945, in Long Beach, Calif. He preceded her in death in 1997.
She is survived by a sister, Gael Kemp of Riggens, Idaho.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. today at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park.
Louise Cox
Former Bremerton resident Louise Hermanson Cox, 76, of Travelers Rest, S.C., died June 6, 1999, at Greenville Memorial Medical Center in Greenville, S.C.
She was born Feb. 2, 1923, in Bremerton to Gideon E. and Vera (Evans) Hermanson. She graduated from Bremerton High School in 1941.
She was co-founder and president of Pre Harvest Ministries that operates Christian bookstores in Virginia and Michigan, and Bethany Shelter Ministries that ministers to girls and women in Virginia and Michigan. She also was co-founder of Sideling View Farm Bible Camp in PawPaw, W.Va.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Cox; a son, Barton Cox of Greenville; a brother, James Hermanson of Gig Harbor; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Ruth Louise Cox Knapp.

Shorty Campbell
Former Kingston resident Richard Henry "Shorty" Campbell, 94, of Spokane died June 16, 1999, in Spokane.
He was born Sept. 21, 1904, in Central Ferry, Wash., to Benjamin and Hattie Campbell. The family lived in Weippe, Idaho, and Lewiston, Idaho.
He married
Helen Babinski in 1931; they were later divorced.
He then married
Vina Belanger. She preceded him in death in 1983.
Mr. Campbell came to Port Gamble in the early 1940s, rafting logs for Pope & Talbot. He then moved to Poulsbo and worked at the Naval Undersea Warfare Engineering Station and at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
Later, he went into full-time logging and rafting. In 1946, he bought the residence known locally as the "house on the hill" in Kingston. Shorty Campbell Road in Kingston was named after him.
Mr. Campbell had coached Little League and served as an umpire.
Survivors include a son, James of Gig Harbor; seven daughters, Virginia Nibler of Spokane, Evelyn Copeland of Fernley, Nev., Marlene Campbell of Puyallup, Sylvia Brown of Lakewood, Waverly McCann of Mead, Okla., Eileen Filzone of Port Orchard and Yvonne Ledford of Poulsbo; a sister, Ruby McGarr of Wamic, Ore.; 36 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Cremation will take place in Spokane.

Phyllis Schuettke
Phyllis Allene Schuettke, 68, died June 18, 1999, at her home on the north shore of Hood Canal near Tahuya.
She was born Nov. 24, 1930, in Seattle. She grew up in Bremerton and was educated in Bremerton schools.
She married
Roger E. Schuettke on Feb. 9, 1952, in Manette. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Wesley of Tahuya and Brian of Beaverton, Ore.; three daughters, Rebecca Merrill of Allyn, Allene Schuettke-Rutter of Tahuya and Barbara Chiado of Vaughn; three brothers, Win Youens of San Francisco, M.G. Thorniley of Curlew, Wash., and Stephen Thorniley of Maytown, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Judy Coward
Judy Lynn Coward, 46, of Port Orchard died June 18, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born April 26, 1953, in Bremerton to David and Genevieve (Wilson) Delk. She grew up in Poulsbo and was educated there, graduating from North Kitsap High School in 1971.
She had worked briefly as a painter at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. For most of her adult life she was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Julia Coward of Tacoma and Jennifer Hover of Port Orchard; two brothers, Michael Delk of Highlands Ranch, Colo., and William Delk of Ashley, Pa.; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Cremation will take place at Cherry Grove Crematory in Poulsbo.
Willibald Bock
Willibald Bock, 58, of Bremerton died June 17, 1999, at Harrison Hospital of medical complications.
He was born April 9, 1941, in Germany to Heinrich and Pauline (Gussman) Bock. He grew up in Glashhutten, Germany.
Mr. Bock became a resident of the United States in 1968. He received his U.S. citizenship in 1975.
He married
Kathe Hubel in Bremerton. He was a construction worker in Kitsap County, retiring in 1989.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Holger of Germany; three sisters, Heidi Ticehurst of Bremerton and Brigitte Schrempf and Sieglinde Winter, both of Germany; and a brother, Manfred of Germany.
A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Inurnment will take place at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Eula Harbert
Eula Madge Harbert, 89, a one year resident of The Willows Retirement Living Community in Bremerton, died June 18, 1999, at Ridgemont Terrace Convalescent Center in Port Orchard.
She was born May 10, 1910, in Seiling, Okla.
She had been a first-grade teacher for 42 years in Hartley, Texas. She was a member of Hartley Christian Fellowship there.
Survivors include two brothers, David Kimball of Longdale, Okla., and Richard Kimball of Port Orchard; and two sisters, Euletta Martin of Wichita, Kan., and Anna McCrabb of Belle Fourche, S.D. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edward Harbert, and by a brother, Bobby Kimball.
A memorial service will be Thursday at Hartley Christian Fellowship. Local arrangements are under the direction of Haven of Rest Funeral Home in Gig Harbor.
Doris Beedle
Doris Eleanor Beedle, 73, of the Kitsap Lake area in Bremerton died June 19, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Jan. 5, 1926, in Tacoma to Albin and Alma (Pearson) Carlson.
She married
Donald E. Beedle in Tacoma in 1946. He preceded her in death in 1983.
She had been an active member of the Senior Singles Club in Bremerton.
Survivors include her longtime companion, Howard Wilkerson; three sons, Russell of Port Orchard, Larry of Bremerton, and Donald of Cardiffe, Calif.; a brother, John Carlson of Tacoma; a sister, Evelyn Vogel of Silverdale; a grandson, Bryan of Bremerton; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Beedle.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at 165 Sereno Circle Drive on Kitsap Lake. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Benjamin Bonniwell
Benjamin R. Bonniwell, 50, of Bremerton died June 18, 1999, at Rolling Hills Golf Course in Bremerton of heart failure.
He was born April 29, 1949, in Pungoteaque, Va., to Lynwood Newell and Margie Lee (Read) Bonniwell. He grew up in Long Beach, Calif., graduating from Long Beach Polytechnic High School in 1967, and from Long Beach City College in 1974.
A Vietnam veteran, Mr. Bonniwell served in the Army from 1968 to 1970, achieving the rank of Spc. 4. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.
He married
Kathi L. Brown on Aug. 7, 1991, in Reno, Nev.
He worked at Long Beach Naval Shipyard from 1970 to 1983 and at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard from 1983 until his retirement this year.
Mr. Bonniwell was a member of the National Home Gardening Club.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, John and Joe, both of Wenatchee; and three stepsons, Dan and Dave Topness and Matthew McKinsey, all of Bremerton; two brothers, Burl Nelson of Mississippi and Phil Bonniwell of California; two sisters, Marlynn and Diane Nelson, both of California; and a granddaughter, Skylar Topness of Bremerton.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. Inurnment will take place at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
William Keyes
William Carl Keyes, 81, of Port Orchard died June 12, 1999, in Port Orchard of natural causes.
He was born Dec. 30, 1917, in Grand Forks, N.D., to Aaron S. and Bertha (Foglequist) Keyes. He grew up in Roseau, Minn.
Mr. Keyes served in the Army from 1944 to 1946 as a private first class in the South Pacific. He received the Philippine Liberation Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal.
He married
Dorothy Carlson on Jan. 2, 1937, in Roseau. She preceded him in death in 1995.
He was retired from a career as a self-employed house painter.
Survivors include three sons, Robert of Port Orchard, William of San Jose, Calif., and David of Lakebay, Wash.; a daughter, Sandi Sterner of Yacolt, Wash.; a sister, Alice Hill of Port Orchard; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia Thornton.
At his request, there will be no services. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Muriel Knowles
Muriel Elizabeth Knowles, 80, of Seabeck died June 20, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Feb. 20, 1919, in Seattle, to Harold and Edith Harding. She grew up in Seattle, working for her father at the Wallingford Bakery.
She married
Arthur Knowles on Aug. 24, 1940, in Seattle.
Mrs. Knowles owned and operated Seabeck Preschool for more than 25 years. She had been a member of Lone Rock Chapel in Seabeck since 1966, serving many years as a Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, John and Ken, both of Poulsbo, and Doug of Silverdale; a daughter, Cathy of Seabeck; a sister, Marj of Seattle; and eight grandchildren, Chelsea, Casey, Adam and Jesse, all of Poulsbo, Tom of Santa Barbara, Calif., Tina of Kansas, Curt of San Diego, and Dorie of Seattle; and one great-grandson.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Lone Rock Chapel.
