Steven Ray Sommers, 51, died at his home in Port Orchard, Washington on March 31, 2000.
He was born on June 25, 1948 in Yakima, Washington to L.W. & Dana Lee (Marler) Sommers.
Steven was raised in South Kitsap, graduating from South Kitsap High School in 1966.
He married
Maria Travis on July 17, 1971 in Yakima.
Mr. Sommers worked for 29 years at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard where he retired in 1995 as a Nuclear Engineering Technician.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1968.
Surviving are his wife; son Sean Sommers of Port Orchard; daughter Wendy Brooks of Port Orchard; brother Stacey Sommers of Port Orchard; sister Chris Blankenship of Bremerton; grandson Clayton Brooks of Port Orchard; and special friend & companion Sandra Peterson.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 7, 2000 at 2:00pm at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 6th from 9am to 5pm and Friday, April 7th from 9am to service.

Terri Margaret Peichoto

Terri Margaret Peichoto, 38 of Port Orchard, died at Tacoma General Hospital in Tacoma Washington on April 2, 2000.
She was born March 30, 1962 in Visalia, California to George & Marge (Victorino) Peichoto.
She was raised in Pleasanton, California graduating from Foothill High School in 1980.
Terri graduated from Olympic College in Bremerton, Washington in 1999.
Terri worked for 4 years at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Washington as a Non-Destructive Tester.
She also owned and trained Thoroughbred Horses at Long Acres Race Track for 10 years.
Terri was very active in 4-H with horses.
Surviving are daughter Margaret I. Kidwell of Port Orchard; parents George & Barbara Peichoto of Port Orchard; brother George Peichoto of Spokane, Washington; sisters Tina Peichoto of Burley, Washington and Marialice Nobles of Gig Harbor, Washington; grandmother Lucy Victorino of Visalia, California; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother Marge Peichoto in 1988.
Funeral services are Thursday, April 6, 2000 at 2:00pm at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard.
Visitation will be April 6th from 9:00 am to the service.

Gary C. Powers, age 57, died April 4, 2000 in Grapeview, WA.
He was born January 6, 1943 in Bremerton, WA to Paul & Beatrice (Nelson) Powers.
He was raised in Port Orchard, WA.
He graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1961 and from Olympic Jr. College in Bremerton, WA., in 1965.
Mr. Powers married
Carolyn (Kunzl) Powers March 29, 1980 in Port Orchard, WA.
For the past 4 years, he worked as a computer consultant for Anteon Corporation.
He was a nuclear inspector at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, before retiring in 1995.
He worked there for 30 years which followed completion of his sheet metal apprenticeship.
Mr. Powers was a member of Elim Lutheran Church, Gold Mountain Men's Club, the Bremerton Elks, Promise Keepers, and Howard's Golf Association.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn of the family home on Mason Lake, sons Mike Powers of Port Orchard, WA., Frank Johnson of Boise, ID., Greg Johnson of Port Orchard, WA., Carl Johnson of Poulsbo, WA., daughter Kim Clemons of Chimacum, WA., sister Virginia Lawrence of Abbottsford, B.C., grandchildren Tom Brooke, Michelle Brooke, Desiree Cole, Paul Cole, Charlie Johnson, Sam Johnson, Gabriel Johnson, and Evan Johnson.
Visitation will be at Rill Chapel, Sunday April 9, from 12:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Memorial services will be held at Elim Lutheran Church, in Port Orchard, Monday April 10th at 3:00 p.m.
Inurnment will be at Sunset Lane cemetery Monday, April 10th at 1:00 p.m.

Juan Carbullido Charfauros

Juan Carbullido Charfauros, 49 of Port Orchard, died in Seattle, Washington on Aprill 4, 2000.
He was born on January 14, 1951 in Agat, Guam to Manuel Santos & Maria Cruz (Carbullido) Charfauros and was raised in San Diego, California.
Juan married
Cecilia Castro Champaco on May 14, 1990 in Port Orchard.
Mr. Charfauros worked for 15 years for the Washington State Veterans Home in Retsil, Washington, retiring in 1989.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1969 to 1974 earning the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Badge.
Surviving are his wife Cecilia and daughter Elizabeth Champaco of Port Orchard; brothers Jesus (Maltilde) Charfauros of National City, California, Franky Carbullido Charfauros of Chula Vista, California, and Ben (Mun-Cha) Charfauros of Spanaway, Washington; sisters Maria (Jose) Atalig of National City, Trinidad (Paul) Perona of Tacoma, Washington, and Alfonsina (Juan) San Nicolas of National City.
He was preceded in death by his brother Joseph Carbullido Charfauros.
Visitation will be Tuesday April 11, 2000 at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard from 9am to 9pm.
A Rosary Service will begin at 7:30 pm followed by a reception.
Funeral Mass on Wednesday, April 12, 2000 at Noon at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard.
Interment will be at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard with full military honors provided by Subase Bangor.

Frieda May Harper

Frieda May 'Sally' Harper, 91 of Olalla, died in Gig Harbor, Washington on April 6, 2000.
She was born May 12, 1908 in Mountain Lake, Minnesota.
Her father was Jacob J. Unruh who was born in Sparan, Russia (or Ukraine) in 1863 and died in 1946.
Her mother, Maria Penner was born in Blumenfield, Ukraine in 1865 and died in 1943.
Frieda's grandparents were John Unruh (1831-1911) born in Korwalke, Russia and Kathryn Dick (1825-1912) born in Pastwa, Russia.
Frieda had 11 brothers and sisters: Mary, John, Ben, Jacob, Kathryn, Helen, Henry, Sarah (died at age 1), Sarah, David, and Sally.
Mrs. Harper was raised in Idaho and California, graduating from Bakersfield High School in Bakersfield, California.
She married
Harold F. Harper who preceded her in death in 1965.
Mrs. Harper was a homemaker and a member of Long Lake Garden Club, Navy Relief Auxilliary, Retired Navy Wives Auxilliary, and Olalla Bible Church.
Surviving are sons William Bates of Ontario, California, Richard Harper of Bremerton, Washington, and Robert Harper of Olalla, Washington; daughters Phyllis Spears of Vancouver, Washington and Alice Schlenker of Lake Oswego, Oregon; 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Monday, April 10, 2000 at 2:30pm at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard with viewing after the service.
Cody M. Johnson

Cody M. Johnson, 83 of Port Orchard, died in Bremerton, Washington on April 10, 2000.
She was born on March 22, 1917 in Hillsdale, Wisconsin to George & Louella (Edwards) Whitman.
Cody was raised in Hillsdale, graduating from Minong High School in Minong, Wisconsin in 1935.
She married
Gustof 'Gus' E. Johnson on September 21, 1937 in Rice Lake, Wisconsin and they moved to Port Orchard in 1952.
Gus preceded her in death on January 30, 2000.
Mrs. Johnson was a Homemaker and also worked in Bremerton for Spaeth Transfer as a Secretary and for Puget Sound Laundry.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Belfair and a bowling league in Bremerton.
Surviving are her son Jon Johnson of Bremerton; grandchildren Dawn Piety, Kim Johnson, and Darren Johnson; and 6 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother Jeff Whitman.
There is no public service planned.
Kenneth C. Moore

Kenneth 'Bud' C. Moore, 81, died at his home in Port Orchard, Washington on March 28, 2000.
He was born June 19, 1918 in Ritzville, Washington to William Moore & Florence (Steiner) Tuttle.
Bud was raised in Portland, Oregon graduating from Commerce City High School in 1936 with continuing education in Business at the University of Washington from 1954 to 1956.
He married
Lillian Marie Rutz on October 22, 1938 in Portland, Oregon.
Mr. Moore worked in the grocery business all of his life.
He owned and operated C & C Supersave in Bremerton until his retirement in 1985.
He owned several other grocery stores and when not an owner, he managed Arts Food Center, Fred Meyers, Marketime IGA, and Safeway.
Bud served in the U.S. Navy stationed at San Francisco, California from 1942 to 1945.
He was a member of Retail Clerks 1105 and past member of Lake City Elks.
He enjoyed golfing (everyday if he could get away with it) and working in his yard.
Surviving are his wife; sons Kenneth H. Moore (Nancy) of Moses Lake, Washington and Paul K. Moore (Kathy) of Federal Way, Washington; daughters Sharon L. Timme of Kent, Washington, Linda P. Eisenauer (Ike) of Gig Harbor, Washington, and Michele D. Lamey of Port Orchard, Washington; 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by daughter Carol A. Filce, and sisters Lucille Watson and Rosemary Moore.
A Memorial Service will be Friday, April 21, 2000 at 2:00pm at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard.
In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to Hospice of Kitsap County, American Cancer Society, and Diabetes Association.
