Julius Kronnagel
Julius Kronnagel, 73, of Poulsbo died July 22, 1999, in Belfair.
He was born Jan. 14, 1926, in Monmouth Junction, N.J., to
Julius D. and Verna (Kenny) Kronnagel. He grew up in New Jersey, attending Hightstown High School in Hightstown, N.J.
Mr. Kronnagel attended Olympic College in Bremerton and graduated with honors from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma in 1984.
He married
Mary Joyce Crawford on Aug. 20, 1960, in Reno, Nev.
Mr. Kronnagel served in the Navy from February 1943 to August 1975, achieving the rank of lieutenant commander. He saw convoy duty in the North Atlantic during World War II.
In Korea and in Vietnam he served with the amphibious force. He retired from the Naval Torpedo Station in Keyport on Aug. 31, 1975.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Kimberly Jeske of Issaquah; a sister, Marion Walmsley of Hightstown; and a granddaughter, Julie Jeske of Issaquah.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Silverdale Lutheran Church. Private inurnment will take place at Island Lake cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Jack Morgan
Former Bainbridge Island resident Harvey J. "Jack" Morgan, 81, of Keizer, Ore., died July 26, 1999, in Keizer.
He was born Sept. 25, 1917, in Hardy, Neb. He attended high school in Supreme, Neb.
Mr. Morgan graduated from Nebraska State Teachers College and taught school in Sioux County, Neb. Later, he worked as a welding supervisor with the Department of the Navy for 28 years, retiring from the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Keyport.
He married
Ila B. Guill in McCook, Neb., in 1939. The couple lived in Cheyenne, Colo., and in Bostwick, Neb., before moving to Bainbridge Island in 1940. They moved to Keizer in 1987.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Harvey Morgan of Snohomish; three daughters, Patricia Sutherland of Lynnwood, Marilyn Casey of Fairfax, Va., and Kathleen Bish of Bremerton; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A private family service will take place at a later date. A private inurnment also is planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Keizer Funeral Chapel in Keizer.

Steven Wright
Steven Craig Wright, 48, of Bremerton died July 24, 1999, at Regional Hospital in Tukwila of complications from quadriplegia caused by an October 1998 automobile accident.
He was born June 18, 1951, in Highland, Ohio, to Owen and Dottie (Crain) Wright. He grew up in Port Orchard, graduating from South Kitsap High School in 1969.
Shortly after high school, Mr. Wright worked as a key grip for a movie studio in California and also owned a business, Earth Candle Co.
Later, he worked for 10 years at Watson Furniture Manufacturing on Bainbridge Island and as a woodcrafter at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Shop 64. He retired from PSNS in March of this year after 13 years.
Mr. Wright coached peewee softball and football for five years in Kitsap County. He also had been a church choir member.
Survivors include his parents; a son, Christopher Wright of Montana; two brothers, Jeffrey Wright of Seattle and Michael Wright of Bainbridge Island; and a sister, Shelley Kelf of Bremerton.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Aug. 6 at Faith Fellowship Church in Silverdale. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Mamie Riley Hunter
Former Bremerton resident Mamie Lee Riley Hunter, 51, of Jackson, Miss., died July 18, 1999, in Jackson.
She was born March 12, 1948, in Kosciusko, Miss., to Ollie Hess and Pearlie C. Webb. She grew up in Kosciusko, graduating from Tipton Street High School there.
She worked in the Naval Supply Center at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 15 years, retiring in 1996.
Survivors include two sons, Mark Hunter of Bremerton and Corey Hunter of Seattle; two brothers; eight sisters; and four grandchildren, Trevale, Caitlin, Zinniea and Jacob.
A funeral service took place July 24 at Traveler's Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Kosciusko.
Edna Fletcher
Edna Iris Fletcher, 82, of Bremerton died July 25, 1999, at her home. She had been a resident of Kitsap County for the past 59 years.
She was born March 18, 1917, in Tacoma to Fred and Charlotte (Obryan) Thaut. She was raised and educated in Tacoma, graduating from Lincoln High School there in 1935.
She married
Robert E. Fletcher on Dec. 28, 1971, in Auburn.
Mrs. Fletcher began working at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in 1951, retiring as a coordinator from the public works and supply departments in 1978.
She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Dennis Bale of Chimacum and Allen Bale of Kent; a sister, Virginia Pease of Port Angeles; five grandchildren, Dennis and Jacob Bale of Chimacum and Diane Spencer, Robert Bale and Michell Purdue, all of Kent; and six great-grandchildren.
At the family's request, there will be no services. Cremation will take place at Cherry Grove Memorial Park in Poulsbo. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Ed Retzloff
Former Bremerton resident Edmond "Ed" Retzloff, 82, of Startup died July 26, 1999, at his home.
Mr. Retzloff worked in the maintenance department at Harrison Hospital for more than 30 years. After his retirement, he moved to Startup.
He is survived by his wife, Polly.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Startup. Arrangements are under the direction of Purdy & Kerr Funeral Home in Monroe.

Delayne Hill Frazier
Delayne Hill Frazier, 39, of Bremerton died July 18, 1999, in the Yakima River near Cle Elum. She accidentally drowned while camping.
She was born Jan. 27, 1960, in Concord, N.C. She graduated from high school in Kannapolis, N.C., in 1977, and from Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, N.C., in 1979.
She had worked at Technicon Industries in Concord for five years. She had lived in Bremerton for the past three years and, at the time of her death, was office manager for Classic Building Materials.
Survivors include her mother, Shirley (Medlin) Owens of Bremerton; a daughter, Brandy Yarboro of Rainsville, Ala.; and two grandchildren, Dillon and Kierstyn Yarboro, both of Rainsville.
A celebration of her life took place last weekend. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Mable Dawes
Mable Irene Dawes, 99, of Bremerton died July 13, 1999, at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center of colon cancer.
She was born Dec. 18, 1899, in Moorehead, Iowa, to Eli and Nellie (Butterfield) Baber. She grew up in Iowa and Nebraska.
She married
Courtney "Jack" Dawes on April 1, 1979, in Bremerton. He preceded her in death in 1980.
She served as a medical technician in the Women's Army Corps from 1943 to 1944. Later, she worked as a clerk at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 12 years, retiring in 1965.
She was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. She also was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Survivors include a daughter, June Roof of Wheat Ridge, Colo.; a stepdaughter, Alice Board of Wenatchee; two foster daughters, Louise Ayers of Spokane and Ruth Deam of Bremerton; and three grandchildren, Brent Foley of Eagle River, Alaska, Earl "Bud" Bryant of Peoria, Ariz., and Jerry Dickey of Arvada, Colo. She was preceded in death by a son, James Andrews, by a daughter, Jean Foley, and by a sister, Velma Fowler.
A memorial service will be held at noon Sunday at the Odd Fellows Hall, 100 S. Dora in Bremerton. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Robert Smith
Robert L. Smith, 54, of Belfair died of cancer July 22, 1999, at his home.
He was born Feb. 26, 1945, in San Francisco to Melvin and Ruth (Kyle) Smith. He grew up in Bremerton, graduating from West High School in 1963.
He married
Patricia Hoenhous on April 3, 1977, in Belfair.
Mr. Smith served in the Army from 1963 to 1966 with the 82nd Airborne. He was a construction manager with U S West for 23 years, retiring in 1990.
He was a member of the Pogie Club, Elks Lodge 1181 in Bremerton and the Elma Game Club. He was a former member of the board of trustees of Elks Lodge 1181.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Cheri Henry of San Diego and Cari Abrams of Louisville, Ky.; a brother, Ralph Smith of Bremerton; two stepsons, Christopher Butler of Port Orchard and Grant Butler of Belfair; and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Keeler Triplets
Alexandra Isabel Keeler, Samantha Kaye Keeler and Darian Josephine Keeler were stillborn July 2, 1999, at Tacoma General Hospital.
The triplets are survived by their parents, Jeff and Michelle Keeler of Port Orchard; their great-grandparents, Rollo and Fontell Henningsen of Missouri, Blanche Kahler of Missouri, and Letha Howell of Oregon; and their grandparents, Ted and Sarah Keeler and Gordon and Barbara Howell, all of Port Orchard, and Ron Kahler of Missouri.
A memorial service took place July 24 at Horseshoe Lake and the Burley Grange.
