Robert Holderman
Robert Southern Holderman, 75, of Poulsbo died July 24, 1999, at Harrison Hospital after suffering pneumonia and complications of numerous strokes.
He was born May 15, 1924, in Walla Walla to Stanley and Dorothy (Southern) Holderman. He grew up in Walla Walla, graduating from Walla Walla High School in 1942.
Mr. Holderman served in the Navy from 1942 to 1945. He was a corpsman aboard the hospital ship USS Solace in the South Pacific.
He married
Ramona B. Best on June 20, 1945, in Seattle. In 1946, he and his wife enrolled in pharmacy school at the University of Montana, graduating in 1949.
Mr. Holderman worked in the Seattle area until 1951, when he purchased Des Moines Drug in Des Moines. He sold the store in 1965.
From 1967 to 1988, he and his wife owned and operated Cole Drug in Big Timber, Mont. He retired in 1972.
Mr. Holderman was active in community affairs in both Des Moines and in Big Timber. He was a life member of the Elks.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Kurt of Suquamish; a daughter, Julie Robinson of Poulsbo; a brother, Wally Holderman of Walla Walla; a sister, Faith Gehring of Normandy Park; and a granddaughter, Alleshen Holderman of Suquamish.
A memorial service is planned for Aug. 27 in Big Timber. Arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.

Betty Wood
Betty Jeanne Wood, 74, of Port Orchard died July 25, 1999, at Issaquah Care Center.
She was born Dec. 14, 1924, in Sioux Falls, S.D., to Oliver A. and Mary E. (Lisantti) Labo. She grew up in Minneapolis.
She was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses for 28 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Dana Wolff of Baarn, Holland; two sons, Gary Boulais of New York and Guy Boulais of Issaquah; two brothers, William Labo of Sacramento, Calif., and Robert Labo of Little Rock, Calif.; two sisters, Rosemary Dietrich of Owosso, Mich., and Joan Maddox of Port Orchard; and five grandchildren, Jennifer Wolff and Rhys, Tait, Macy and Ty Boulais. She was preceded in death by a brother, James Labo.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1901 Bielmeier Road in Port Orchard.
Cheri Truman
Cheri Elizabeth Truman, 48, died July 26, 1999, at Island Health and Rehabilitation Center on Bainbridge Island, following a lengthy illness. She had lived and worked in the North Kitsap area since 1978.
She was born May 16, 1951, in Burlington to Gustave and Mildred Truman. She grew up in Skagit County, graduating from Burlington-Edison High School in 1969.
Survivors include her companion, Robert Hill of Kingston; a son, Gus Goller of Hansville; a daughter, Alice Goller of Kingston; three sisters, Ina Danielson and Susan Stucks, both of Poulsbo, and Janet Andrews of Sedro Woolley. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Charles.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel, followed by a committal service at Eglon cemetery.

Michael Comstock
Michael J. Comstock, 44, of Shelton died July 24, 1999, at his place of employment in Bremerton.
He was born Jan. 2, 1955, in Oak Harbor. He graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1973.
He and his wife, Lorrie, married
Jan. 2 in Shelton.
Mr. Comstock had worked as an electronics technician for Sound Amusements in Bremerton for 15 years.
Survivors include his wife; his parents, Allison "Ace" and Bernice Comstock; a son, Marine Corps Lance Corporal Gery Comstock; a daughter, Erin Comstock; three brothers, Allen, Randy and Terry Comstock; a sister, Susan Shefler; two stepsons, Mark Radcliffe and Jerome Cornelius; and a stepdaughter, Becky Radcliffe.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hope Chapel, 421 W E St. in Shelton. Arrangements are under the direction of McComb Funeral Home.
Knute Pearson
Knute "Demsey" Emil Pearson, 95, of Poulsbo died July 15, 1999, in Poulsbo.
He was born Nov. 11, 1903, in Malmo, Sweden, to Emil and Emma (Holmstrom) Pearson. He grew up in Malmo, graduating from school in Sweden and moving to Minnesota that same year.
He married
Helen Naslund in 1937 in California. She preceded him in death in 1985.
Mr. Pearson worked for Pacific Coast Codfish Co. in Poulsbo from 1930 to 1958. He was a master of various vessels, including the Charles R. Wilson and the Thayer.
In 1958, he began working for Kadiak Fisheries of Kodiak, Alaska, and the Aleutian Islands as chief engineer of the Nordic Maid and various other company vessels. He retired in 1970.
Survivors include a son, Donald Pearson of Kingston; three grandchildren, Sueanne Smith of Bainbridge Island, Victoria Murray of Poulsbo and David Knute Pearson of Suquamish; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.

Julius Kronnagel
Julius Kronnagel, 73, of Poulsbo died July 22, 1999, in Belfair.
He was born Jan. 14, 1926, in Monmouth Junction, N.J., to Julius D. and Verna (Kenny) Kronnagel. He grew up in New Jersey, attending Hightown High School there.
Mr. Kronnagel attended Olympic College in Bremerton and graduated with honors from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma in 1984.
He married
Mary Joyce Crawford on Aug. 20, 1960, in Reno, Nev.
Mr. Kronnagel served in the Navy from February 1943 to August 1975, achieving the rank of lieutenant commander. He saw convoy duty in the North Atlantic during World War II.
In Korea and in Vietnam he served with the amphibious force. He retired from the Naval Torpedo Station in Keyport on Aug. 31, 1975.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Kimberly Jeske of Issaquah; a sister, Marion Walmsley of Hightown; and a granddaughter, Julie Jeske of Issaquah.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Silverdale Lutheran Church. Private inurnment will take place at Island Lake cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Benjamin Bigelow III
Benjamin Flagg Bigelow III, 65, of Silverdale died July 25, 1999, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Seattle.
He was born March 21, 1934, in Bangor, Maine, to Benjamin and Mary (McCarthy) Bigelow. He grew up in Bangor, in Arizona and in Texas.
He graduated from California State College in Los Angeles and pursued graduate studies at the University of California at Los Angeles.
He married
Kathleen Sherrell Drabant Nov. 5, 1971, in Van Nuys, Calif.
Mr. Bigelow served in the Army from 1951 to 1953, seeing duty in Korea. His military honors include the Combat Infantry Badge, the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Stars, the United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
He worked as an actor in professional theater and television in the 1960s and 1970s. Later, he was a deputy probation officer in Los Angeles County for 10 years.
Mr. Bigelow was a member of the Mensa Society.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Benjamin James Bigelow of San Diego; a daughter, LaRisa Newell of Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister, Regina Bigelow of Mesa, Ariz., and a grandson, David Benjamin Newell of Albuquerque.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. today at Living Word Christian Center in Silverdale. Interment
will take place at 2:30 p.m. today at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Gertrude Dettmann
Gertrude L. Dettman, 94, of Bremerton died July 25, 1999, at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center of natural causes.
She was born Nov. 22, 1904, in New Salem, N.D., to Louis and Alice (Ritz) Keller. She grew up in New Salem.
She married
Albert O. Dettmann in New Salem in 1925. He preceded her in death in 1986.
She moved to Yakima in 1936 from New Salem, then moved to Bremerton in 1987 from Yakima.
Mrs. Dettmann was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Dean Dettman of Redmond; two daughters, Lois Smith and Fay Rogers, both of Bremerton; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two brothers, one stepbrother and one stepsister.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. at the same location. Interment
will take place at Terrace Heights Memorial Park in Yakima on Thursday.
Robert Ayers
Robert R. Ayers, 48, of Belfair died July 21, 1999, at University Hospital in Seattle.
He was born Sept. 10, 1950, in Potsdam, N.Y., and was raised and educated in New York.
He married
Lola Burdick on Nov. 17, 1978, in Las Vegas.
Mr. Ayers served in the Navy from 1969 to 1989. After his retirement from the Navy, he worked in the property room of the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office. He moved to the Belfair area in 1989.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Christal Gonzales of Belfair; two sisters, Linda Wilson of Belfair and Dawn Schottmiller of Rochester, N.Y.; one brother, Bruce Fanning of Belfair; and one granddaughter, Alena Gonzales.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Claudia Christensen
Claudia Ann Christensen, 54, a lifetime resident of Gig Harbor, died July 22, 1999, of cancer.
She was born in Tacoma on April 28, 1945, and was a homemaker.
She was a graduate of Peninsula High School and a member of Saint Nicholas Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Chris L. Christensen; sons Greg Burgi and Len Christensen; daughters Helen, Julie, Sara and Marie Christensen; and four grandchildren.
A funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Saint Nicholas Catholic Church in Gig Harbor, with a graveside service to follow at Haven of Rest Memorial Park on Highway 16 in Gig Harbor.
