Glen Hammond
Former Bremerton resident Glen Hammond, 41, of Honolulu died July 16, 1999, in Honolulu following a construction accident.
He was born Sept. 14, 1957, in Kansas, to V.R. and Sara (Scrivner) Hammond. He grew up in Wichita, Kan., moving to Bremerton in 1972.
Mr. Hammond graduated from Punahou High School in Honolulu in 1979.
He is survived by a brother, Doug, of Bainbridge Island.
Gordon Albertson
Former Bremerton resident Gordon Clifford Albertson, 76, of Auburn died July 19, 1999, at the Auburn Life Care Center.
He was born Oct. 5, 1922, in Flom, Minn., to Clarence and Hannah (Dullum) Albertson. He was raised and educated in Minnesota, graduating from high school in 1940.
He married
Audrey Mesker in 1942 in Twin Valley, Minn. She preceded him in death in 1986.
He married
Mary O'Brien on Aug. 25, 1987, at Lake Tahoe in California.
Mr. Albertson served in the Army during World War II as a rifleman with the C-66 Armored Infantry Company. He was a prisoner of war in Germany for two months.
After the war, he worked for a power company in Minnesota. He came to Bremerton in 1951, working at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and later working for the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier. He retired in 1978.
Mr. Albertson was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Disabled American Veterans, the Elks and the Eagles.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Allen of Tacoma and Greg of Port Orchard; two daughters, Georgene Smith and Geraldine Schumacher, both of Tacoma; three brothers, Norman of Twin Valley, Loyal of Kansas City, Mo., and Vernon of St. Paul, Minn.; two sisters, Hazel Jappe of Burbank, Calif., and Clarice Hovde of Twin Valley; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Lewis Funeral Chapel from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and on Friday from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 2 p.m. Burial will take place at Forest Lawn cemetery.

Kenneth Ostrem
Kenneth M. Ostrem, 75, of Port Orchard died July 14, 1999, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, following an automobile accident.
He was born Sept. 2, 1923, in Vernon County, Wis., to John and Agnes (Thompson) Ostrem. He grew up in Vernon County.
He married
Iona V. Holte on Nov. 6, 1945, in Vernon County. She also died as a result of the July 14 accident.
Mr. Ostrem served in the Army during World War II. He was a retired carpenter.
He had been in active in Christ Lutheran Church in Belfair and had bowled with many senior leagues.
Survivors include three sons, Greg of Puyallup, Kevin of Bellevue and Steven of Viroqua, Wis.; two daughters, Terri Watson of Allyn and Sharon of Port Orchard; two brothers, Gordon and Keith, both of Wisconsin; five sisters, Opal Volden, Roseann Rogers, Olene Henning and Barb Role, all of Wisconsin, and Ann Monahon of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and seven grandchildren, Connie, Danny and Jason, all of Viroqua, Tory Higgins of Port Orchard, Tyra Martinez of Allyn, Shawna Rodriguez of Brush, Colo., and Christopher of Bellevue; and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Iona Ostrem
Iona V. Ostrem, 73, of Port Orchard died July 14, 1999, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle following an automobile accident.

She married
Kenneth M. Ostrem on Nov. 6, 1945, in Vernon County. He also died as a result of the July 14 accident.
Mrs. Ostrem was a homemaker. She had been active in Christ Lutheran Church in Belfair.
Survivors include three sons, Greg of Puyallup, Kevin of Bellevue and Steven of Viroqua, Wis.; two daughters, Terri Watson of Allyn and Sharon of Port Orchard; a brother, Hjalmer Holte of Wisconsin; a sister, Cleo Maurer of Wisconsin; and seven grandchildren, Connie, Danny and Jason, all of Viroqua, Tory Higgins of Port Orchard, Tyra Martinez of Allyn, Shawna Rodriguez of Brush, Colo., and Christopher of Bellevue; and six great-grandchildren.

Alma Charland
Alma R. Charland, 89, of Port Orchard died July 14, 1999, at her home.
She was born Feb. 17, 1910, in White Deer, Texas. She grew up in Texas and in California.
She married
Eldon G. Charland on April 13, 1929, in South Gate, Calif. He preceded her in death in 1988.
Mrs. Charland was a homemaker.
She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Lee, of Port Orchard.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation is under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Vanessa Brooks
Vanessa Rene Brooks, 20, of Port Orchard died July 17, 1999, in Port Orchard following an automobile accident.
She was born Jan. 23, 1979, in Bremerton to Phillip R. and Lynne E. (Turner) Brooks. She grew up in Port Orchard.
She had worked at Boston Market in Port Orchard.
Survivors include her parents; a son, Jordan Lee of Port Orchard; a brother, Christian James Brooks of Port Orchard; a sister, Thyra Brooks of Albuquerque, N.M.; and her grandparents, Arthur Turner of Silverdale and Maxiene Carver-Austin of Laguna Hill, Calif.
A memorial service will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Pacific International Christian Center, 4819 Hunt St. NW in Gig Harbor. Interment
will take place at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
A fund for her son is being established at Seafirst Bank in Port Orchard.
Margaret Cashman
Margaret C. Cashman, 68, of Bremerton died July 18, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Oct. 22, 1930, in Oklahoma City to Newt and Mary (Scott) Conley. She grew up in Oklahoma City, graduating from Central High School there in 1948 and from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Okla., in 1952.
She married
William "Bill" Cashman on March 28, 1954, in Oklahoma City.
Mrs. Cashman was a homemaker. She had been a member of Alpha Gamma Delta at the University of Oklahoma.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Richard of Seattle; two daughters, Carolyn Kettler of Norfolk, Va., and Jane Anthony of Alexandria, Va.; a sister, Mary Jane Powell of Canoga Park, Calif.; and four grandchildren, William, Andrew and Elizabeth Kettler, all of Norfolk, and Mary Margaret Anthony of Alexandria.
Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Bremerton. Interment
will take place at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent.

Bernard Lippert
Bernard W. Lippert, 84, of Bremerton died July 17, 1999, at Northwoods Lodge in Silverdale.
He was born Dec. 30, 1914, in Aneta, N.D., to Charles W. and Margaret (Colbert) Lippert. He graduated from high school in Aneta.
He married
Myrtle Prindle in 1948, in North Dakota. She preceded him in death in 1986.
Mr. Lippert farmed for many years in North Dakota and also worked with the sheriff's department in Nelson County, N.D. He had lived in Bremerton for the past 11 years.
Survivors include three sisters, Darlene Green of Bremerton, Juanita Bloomquist of Silverdale and Philomenia Davis of Seattle. He was preceded in death by three brothers and eight sisters.
A rosary will be recited Wednesday evening at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Aneta, followed by a funeral Mass on Thursday morning at the same location. Burial will take place in the cemetery of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Local arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Pat Vosgien
Hilma M. "Pat" Vosgien, 81, of Bremerton died July 17, 1999, of Alzheimer's disease at Port Orchard Care Center.
She was born July 21, 1917, in Dawson, Minn.
She married
Lawrence D. "Larry" Baker and, after he died, Vernon L. "Ted" Vosgien. He, too, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Vosgien was a cook in the Bremerton area and owned Pat's Chili Bowl in Navy Yard City in the 1950s.
She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Bremerton.
Survivors include three daughters, Patsy of California, Loralie of Tahuya and Heidi of Olalla; a son, Jerrold of California; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. A daughter, Micheal, also preceded her in death.
At her request, there will be no services. Arrangements are by Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Peggy Henderson
Former Port Orchard resident Peggy Ellen Henderson, 71, of Port Huron, Mich., died July 6, 1999, of cancer at Mercy Hospital in Port Huron.
She was born Oct. 7, 1927, in Port Huron to William and Nellie (Shaw) Saunders. She married
Kenneth E. Henderson on Sept. 27, 1947, in Yale, Mich.
Mrs. Henderson was a retired secretary for the Chrysler Corporation.
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth of Croswell, Mich., and Thomas of Carsonville, Mich.; two daughters, Kathleen Ellen Rinehart of Port Orchard and Theresa Perry of Croswell; one brother, James R. Saunders of Columbus, Ohio; one sister, Nancy Etchells of Croswell; 12 grandchildren, including Isaac Kapa of Croswell; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held at Pomeroy Funeral Home in Croswell. William Saunders officiated. Burial was in the Croswell Cemetary.
