Carol Anderson
Carol May Anderson, 90, of Camano Island died June 28, 1999, at Liberty Shores Retirement Community in Poulsbo.
She was born Dec. 25, 1908, in Seattle to Roscoe and Myrtle (Pettifer) Hildebrandt. She grew up in Seattle, attending Queen Anne High School and graduating from Ballard High School.
She married Ralph E. May on June 29, 1929. He preceded her in death in 1992.
She graduated from business college in Seattle. She worked as a supervisor at Seattle Credit Bureau, retiring in 1955.
She was a member and past matron of Eastern Star Aloha Chapter in the Green Lake area of Seattle.
Survivors include a son, Donald Anderson of Spokane; a daughter, Patricia Clementz of Indianola; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
No services are planned. Cremation will take place at Cherry Grove Memorial Park in Poulsbo. Arrangements are under the direction of Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove Memorial Park.

Wesley Goode
Wesley Lyle Goode, 59, of Bremerton died Aug. 28, 1999, at his home.
He was born April 2, 1940, in Dallas, Ore., to Lyle and Delilah (Ames) Goode. He was raised in Portland, Ore., where he attended high school. He graduated from Oregon State University with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering in 1968, and a master's degree in oceanic engineering in 1970.
He married Linda Yates on April 7, 1968, in Corvallis, Ore.
Mr. Goode served in the Marine Corps from 1959 to 1964, attaining the rank of sergeant. He served in Okinawa, the Philippines and California. He was a rifle expert marksman and pistol sharpshooter marksman.
He worked at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center at Keyport for 29 years until retiring this year. He was a member of the Lincoln Avenue Bible Church and was a volunteer with Toys for Tots.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Christopher of Mesa, Ariz.; four daughters, Mary Smiley of Sheridan, Wyo., Kathleen and Ellen Goode, both of Bremerton, and Lisa Spradlin of Port Orchard; a sister, Sandra Del Prado of Miami, Fla.; and five grandchildren, Zachary, Alexander and Killian Spradlin, all of Port Orchard, and Malia and Brielle Smiley, both of Sheridan.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lincoln Avenue Bible Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Crisis Pregnancy Center, 1600 12th St., Bremerton, WA 98337.

Maria Parmley
Maria Anna Parmley, 89, of Poulsbo died Aug. 27, 1999, at Naval Hospital Bremerton.
She was born Oct. 23, 1909, in Eisenschmitt, Germany, to Mathias and Elisabeth (Flesch) Lauer. She was raised and attended school in Eisenschmitt.
She married Daniel A. Parmley on Jan. 7, 1956, in Himmerod, Germany.
In 1969, Mrs. Parmley and her husband moved to Poulsbo from England. She worked as a seamstress for the Martha & Mary Health Care Center from 1970 to 1980. She was a member of St. Olaf's Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Raphaela Reavis of Owings, Md., and Daniela Parmley of Seattle; a sister, Thea Keip of Eisenschmitt; three grandchildren, Andreas Salvidar of Chesapeake Beach, Md., Tanya Donaldson of Hampton, Va., and Dmitri Reavis of North Beach, Md.; and one great-grandson.
Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. today at Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel, and at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Olaf's Catholic Church, Poulsbo. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Olaf's. A committal will follow at Cherry Grove Memorial Park.

Bill Meigs
C.V. "Bill" Meigs, 61, of Port Orchard died Aug. 25, 1999, at his home.
He was born Aug. 7, 1938, in Lamar, Mo., to Clifford and Ida (Yates) Meigs. He was raised in Missouri and Iowa before moving with his family to Port Orchard in 1951. He graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1956.
He married Mary Ady on Feb. 27, 1958, in Port Orchard.
Mr. Meigs was a firefighter and fire chief with the city of Bremerton from 1961 to 1983. He then served as fire chief with South Kitsap District 7 from 1983 to 1991.
He then worked for Pauls Discount Tire and Wheel in Bremerton for eight years.
Survivors include three sons, William of Olalla, Daryl of Port Orchard and Paul of Bremerton; a daughter, Ruth Masche of Port Orchard; five brothers, Max of Port Orchard, Chester of Bremerton, Ken of Silverdale, Clifford of Tacoma and Charles of Belfair; four sisters, Phemic Knox, Phylis Cook and Freda Spain, all of Port Orchard, and Mable Rainey of Bothell; and eight grandchildren, Charmaine, Michael, Kevin, Wesley, Ricky, Kristina, Stephanie and Alyssa.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard.
Donations may be made to Fire District 7, P.O. Box 1517, Port Orchard, WA 98366.

Wesley Flanders
Wesley Dean Flanders, 66, of Bremerton died Aug. 24, 1999, at home.
He was born Oct. 23, 1932, in Troy, Ore., to Boyd and Mae (Russell) Flanders. He was raised in Port Orchard and attended South Kitsap High School.
Mr. Flanders served in the Marine Corps from 1951 to 1954 during the Korean War. He attained the rank of corporal and later served in the military police. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and United Nations Service Medal.
He worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 23 years before retiring in 1987. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2669.
Survivors include a brother, Lynn Flanders of Gresham, Ore.; and three sisters, Wanda Ashmore and Laura Fowler, both of Medford, Ore., and Edith White of Olympia.
Inurnment will take place at Willamette National cemetery in Portland, Ore.

Harold Crowell Jr.
Harold Insley Crowell Jr., 68, of Alameda, Calif., died Aug. 26, 1999, in Alameda.
Mr. Crowell was born March 17, 1931, in Bremerton to Harold and Gladys (Fowler) Crowell. He was raised in Suquamish.
He graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1949 and earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Washington in 1958.
Mr. Crowell served in the Navy from 1951 to 1954. He received the Korean Service medal for his service as an airman aboard USS Kearsarge during the Korean conflict.
He married Florence Williams on Sept. 16, 1975, in Alameda.
Mr. Crowell worked most of his life as a manufacture's representative in the electrical industry. He was a member of the Suquamish tribe.
Mr. Crowell is survived by his wife; four daughters, Della Crowell of Los Angeles, Laura Yaeger of Meadville, Pa., Susan Bambino of Herndon, Va., and Leslie Crowell of Doyleston, Pa.; one sister; one brother; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel. A committal service will follow at Suquamish cemetery.

Ethel Palmer
Ethel L. Palmer, 90, of Bremerton died Aug. 27, 1999, at Forest Ridge Convalescent Center of natural causes.
She was born Jan. 17, 1909, in White Oak, Okla., to John and Louella (Riceman) Dameron. She was raised in Washington and graduated with the first licensed practical nurse class in the state in 1953.
She married Stanley Palmer on March 2, 1927, in Tacoma. They moved to Bremerton in 1939.
During World War II, Mrs. Palmer volunteered at Harrison Hospital. She retired in 1973 after 29 years of work at Naval Hospital Bremerton.
Mrs. Palmer was a member of First Christian Church, Rebekah Lodge No. 381, Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile and the Order of the White Shrinew. She was active with the Rainbow Girls and served as grandmother of the Manette Assembly.
She is survived by one son, Stanley Jr. of Bremerton; and two grandchildren, James of Bremerton and David of Yakima.
At her request, there will be no services. Internment will be at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Memorial donations may be made to Rainbow Girls, Manette Assembly, c/o Masonic Temple of Bremerton, 878 Fifth St., Bremerton, WA 98312.

Tugboat Smith
Ralph B. "Tugboat" Smith, 84, of Bremerton died Aug. 26, 1999, at his home.
Mr. Smith was born
Sept. 30, 1914, in Ancon, Canal Zone, Panama, to Ralph B. and Ethel (Klein) Smith. He came to Seattle in 1918 and was raised and educated there, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1933.
He married Helen Myers in 1936 in California.
Mr. Smith served in the Navy from 1933 to 1937. Following his Navy service, he worked for the border patrol in Texas. He came to Bremerton in 1943 to work at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
He worked at PSNS until his retirement in 1969 as a general foreman electrician. He continued to work on tugboats from Seattle to Alaska until shortly before his death.
Mr. Smith was an active member of the Bremerton Yacht Club and BPOE No. 1181 of Bremerton. In the late 1940s and early 1950s, he was a Sea Scout Skipper of the Sea Scout Sinclair No. 541.
He is survived by a son, Norman R. Smith of Port Orchard; a daughter, JoAnne H. Bryan of Marshall, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
There will be no services.
Cremation will take place at Cherry Grove Memorial Park.
Arrangements are being handled by Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Walter Fry
Walter Bosen Fry, 82, of Bremerton died August 27, 1999.
He was born Feb. 9, 1917, in Logan, Utah, to John J. and R. Myrtle (Ramsden) Fry.
In 1936, he moved with his family to the Bremerton area.
He married Frances Maulsby Maylor in 1961.
Mr. Fry worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a clerk and postal examiner, retiring in the late 1960s.
He was a member of the Kitsap Mineral and Gem Society, serving as president in 1967. He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Garry Swick of Hillsboro, Ore.; two daughters, Maxine Shade of Virginia Beach, Va., and Susan McGary of Forest Lake Minn.; six brothers, Jack, Don, Alan and Reed of Bremerton, Glen of Salt Lake City and Grant of St. George, Utah; two sisters, Ruth Gulbransen of Bountiful, Utah, and Carol Baker of Boise, Idaho; eight grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Rex.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2225 Perry Ave., Bremerton, with a public viewing at 12:30 p.m.
