Maxine Blockhus
Maxine Alice Blockhus, 81, of Port Orchard died Aug. 10, 1999, at Port Orchard Care Center of multiple myeloma.
She was born Oct. 24, 1917, in Spokane to Ruby and Edwin Fry. She grew up in Bremerton.
She married
Carl M. Blockhus on Feb. 8, 1939, in Port Orchard.
Mrs. Blockhus worked in The Sun's Circulation Department for 30 years, retiring in 1982.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Gary and John Blockhus, both of Bremerton; one daughter, Janice Thoemke of Silverdale; three sisters, Irene Armitage of Allyn, Shirley Laes of Bremerton and Delores St. Laurent of Sonoma, Calif.; and six grandchildren, Michael Blockhus of Kirkland, Brent Thoemke of Tacoma, Bryan Thoemke of Silverdale, and Erik, Karl and Stina Blockhus, all of Bremerton.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Anita Doggett
Anita Louise Doggett, 58, of Port Orchard died Aug. 14, 1999, in Port Orchard of natural causes.
She was born Feb. 19, 1941, in Yakima to George and Leonid (Samson) Shook. She grew up in Yakima, graduating from Yakima High School in 1959.
She married
Willard L. "Bill" Doggett on July 18, 1975, in Port Orchard.
Mrs. Doggett was a homemaker. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Yakima and the Eagles in White Center.
Survivors include her husband; her father; three sons, Jason Doggett of Port Orchard, Everett Bowling of West Seattle and Eric Bowling of Albany, Ore.; two daughters, Leonid Martin of Lynnwood and Lynette Burley of Everett; one brother, Marc Shook of West Seattle; one sister, Nadine Martin; and six grandchildren, Rene Martin of Lynnwood, Ryein, Brittain, Mitchell and Alexis Bowling, all of Albany, and Tye Burley of Everett.
Visitation will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday also at Rill Chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Genevieve Wolf
Genevieve F. Wolf, 76, of Port Orchard died Aug. 14, 1999, in Bremerton of cancer.
She was born May 31, 1923, in Moorehead, Minn., to Michael and Pearl (Payseno) Brady. She grew up in Moorehead.
She married
Robert J. Wolf on Sept. 28, 1940, in Moorehead. Mrs. Wolf was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Wayne Wolf of Port Orchard and Ray Rice of Lake Symington; one daughter, Gayle Rice of Lake Symington; one brother, Gene Brady of Manchester; one sister, Beverly Stratton of Electric City; three grandchildren, Paris Wolf of Port Orchard, Wendy Dike of Lake Symington and Brittany Hendricks of Bremerton; and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. Interment
will follow at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.
Bernice Jones
Bernice Schoonover Jones, 77, of Manette died Aug. 14, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Sept. 6, 1921, in Manette to Edward E. and Gertrude (Green) Schoonover. She graduated from Bremerton High School in 1940.
She married
Dean Jones on Sept. 27, 1940, in Silverdale. He preceded her in death in 1997. Mr. Jones had served as Kitsap County Sheriff, as did their son, Pat.
Mrs. Jones was a homemaker. She was a member of the Manette Pioneers, the Women's Eagles, the Manette Historical Club and TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly).
Survivors include two sons, Dean Jones of Gig Harbor and Pat Jones of Bremerton; two daughters, Linda Hickey and Denice Huffman, both of Bremerton; one sister, Ada Matteson of Bremerton; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Manette Community Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Kathryn Lindstrom
Kathryn Kananen Lindstrom, 88, of Port Orchard died Aug. 14, 1999, at Ridgemont Terrace Convalescent Center.
She was born Jan. 16, 1911, in Ilwaco to Evert and Liisa Kananen. Her parents were Finnish immigrants and she was the youngest of eight children.
Following high school graduation and employment in Ilwaco, she moved to Vallejo, Calif., where she worked for the Mare Island Naval Shipyard. There she met and married
Julien E. Lindstrom in 1942.
Mr. Lindstrom served in the Navy and the couple traveled to many duty stations. They settled in Kitsap County in 1959, building a home in Port Orchard. Mrs. Lindstrom was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Amber VanSantford of Port Orchard and Holly Light of Belfair; one son, Jay Lindstrom of Espanola, N.M.; one sister, Martha Hansen of Portland, Ore.; three grandsons; and five great-grandsons.
At her request, there will be no services. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Charles Jensen
Charles Edward Jensen, 92, of Manchester died Aug. 14, 1999, in Port Orchard of natural causes.
He was born May 2, 1907, in Alder to Christen and Pauline (Wurmke) Jensen. He grew up in Alder, graduating from Eatonville High School in 1924, and from an apprenticeship at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in 1928.
He married
Evelyn Vasgien on April 9, 1938, in Everett.
Mr. Jensen worked 25 years for the National Biscuit Company in Portland, Ore., retiring in 1972.
He was a life member of both the Mt. Taber Masonic Lodge 42 in Portland, Ore. and the Order of Eastern Star Waverly Chapter 54 in Portland. He was also a member of the Washington State Button Society, the Seattle No. 1 Button Society, the Valley Button Club, and the Kitsap Organ Society.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Douglas Jensen of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; two daughters, Barbara Winslow of Port Orchard and Nickie Clausing of Albany, Ore.; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle.
Norman Gabrielson
Norman Thomas Gabrielson, 69, of Bremerton died Aug. 12, 1999, in Bremerton.
He was born March 5, 1930, in Tacoma to Melvin and Dorothy (Barry) Gabrielson. He was raised in Vaughn in Pierce County, spending a great part of his life in the Carbonado area of Pierce County before relocating in Bremerton.
Survivors include two sons, Norman of Castle Rock and Melvin of Roseburg, Ore.; two daughters, Vanessa Kmetz of Kelso and DeLauny Nourse of Carbonado; three sisters, Jeri Burgess of Bremerton, Arlene Higgins of Puyallup and Eileen LaRue of Gig Harbor; and eight grandchildren, Cassandra and Brandon, both of Castle Rock, Shane, Sean and Brandy, all of Kelso, and Stacy, Samantha and Lindsay, all of Carbonado. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Richard.
A private family service will be held.
Ralph Hamilton
Ralph Neil Hamilton, 60, a life-long Kitsap County resident and retiree from Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, died Aug. 12, 1999.
He was a past treasurer of the Glass Odyssey Corvette Club in Bremerton and had received rally awards for driving and racing. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting, including bow hunting.
Survivors include daughters Lisa Swan of Port Orchard, and Lory Yeaman of Toole, Utah, brothers Larry of Gig Harbor and Dale of White Rock, B.C., sisters Jeanne Seguine of Foulton Valley, Calif., and Diane Carlson of Burlington, long-time companion Kathy McGinnis, and two grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Haven of Rest Memorial Park in Gig Harbor. Arrangements are by Haven of Rest funeral home.

Margurite Julia Hueske
Margurite Julia Hueske, age 84, of Waco, Texas, died Aug. 11, 1999, at a Waco nursing home.
She was born April 4, 1915, to Julius and Marie Julia Vasuvia Hanson in Houston.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Hueske of Bremerton and Garrett Hueske of Houston; one daughter, Norma Godsey of Waco; one sister, Helen Jeffcoat of Houston; 7 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garrett Hueske, in 1961.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 tonight at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home, 7537 South Interstate 35, Waco, TX 76706. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday also at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. A private burial will be held at a later date at Resthaven cemetery in Houston.
Marion Forsman Boushie
Marion Forsman Boushie, 53, of Suquamish died Aug. 9, 1999, in Seattle.
She was born March 1, 1946, in Baltimore, Md., to James and Helen Forsman. She grew up in Suquamish.
She graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1964. She also was a 1977 graduate of Highline Community College in Midway and a 1979 graduate of Antioch University in Seattle.
She had been human resource manager for Clearwater Casino in Suquamish for the past three years.
Previously, she worked with the Suquamish Tribal Higher Education Department in Suquamish, the United States Department of Census in Seattle, the United Indians Of All Tribes Foundation in Seattle and the North Kitsap School District Indian Education Program in Poulsbo.
She was a past member of the Suquamish Tribal Council, a past member of the Kitsap County Human Rights Council, a past officer of the National Indian Education Association and a past officer of the Washington State Indian Education Association.
Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Frank Boushie; her parents, James and Helen Forsman of Suquamish; one son, Shawn of Port Orchard; and five brothers, James Forsman of San Francisco, Joe Forsman of Tacoma and Tony Forsman, John Forsman and Leonard Forsman, all of Suquamish.
A memorial service will be conducted at noon Saturday at the Suquamish Tribal Center, 18438 Sandy Hook Road. Private inurnment will follow the service at the Suquamish cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove in Poulsbo.
