Alice Worrell
Alice Belle Worrell, 62, of Bainbridge Island died July 30, 1999, at her home.
She was born Sept. 19, 1936, in Detroit. She graduated from Colorado Women's College and from the University of Denver.
She married
Jack Arnel Worrell on Dec. 15, 1983, in Seattle.
Mrs. Worrell had been a teacher at North Mason High School.
Survivors include her husband; a son, David Buxton of Bainbridge Island; a daughter, Susan Kriegel of Port Orchard; a stepson, Mark of Bremerton; a stepdaughter, Cherie of Templeton, Calif.; a brother, John Holmes of Allyn; a sister, Priscilla Freidl of Austria; and four grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Aug. 11 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church on Bainbridge Island. Arrangements are under the direction of Tuell-McKee Funeral & Cremation Services of Bremerton.
Bob Bell Sr.
Former Port Orchard resident Robert "Bob" Bell Sr., 72, of Colfax died Aug. 2, 1999, at his home. He had lived in Colfax for the past six years.
He was born April 24, 1927, in Portland, Ore., to Arthur and Catherine (McDonald) Bell. He grew up in the Portland area, graduating from high school there and attending two years of junior college.
He was married
to Gloria Lemon in Stevenson. They were later divorced.
Mr. Bell served in the Navy during World War II. Following his discharge, he returned to Portland and worked in the Portland shipyards.
He moved to Port Orchard in 1961, working at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. Due to a stroke, he took medical retirement in 1973.
Mr. Bell had been a member of the Boilermakers Union.
Survivors include four sons, Robert Bell Jr. of Colfax, David Bell of Bremerton and Mike and Charles Bell, both of Port Orchard; a daughter, Catherine Cartmill of LaConner; a sister; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by two brothers.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Bruning Funeral Home Chapel in Colfax. Burial will follow at the Colfax cemetery.
Joseph Speechley Jr.
Joseph H. Speechley Jr., 68, of Bremerton died July 17, 1999, in Bremerton.
He was born Oct. 30, 1930, in Friday Harbor.
Mr. Speechley had worked as a marine electrician.
Survivors include two daughters, Candice Manatee of Poulsbo and Alice Johnson of Bremerton; and two grandchildren, Sarah Sears of Port Townsend and Timothy DeLapp of New Orleans.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel. Inurnment was at Mountain View Memorial Park in Tacoma.
Martha Gerou
Martha Gerou, 77, of Port Orchard died Aug. 2, 1999, at Ridgemont Terrace Convalescent Center of natural causes.
She was born Oct. 11, 1921, in Rock, Mich. She graduated from Rock High School there.
She married
Hubert Gerou in 1942, in Racine, Wis. He preceded her in death in 1985.
Mrs. Gerou was a homemaker.
Survivors include six sons, Edward of Poulsbo, Daniel of Spokane, Mark of Marrowstone Island, Gregory of Gig Harbor, Kevin of Shelton and Jeffrey of Reno, Nev.; and a daughter, Marlene Whyte of Port Orchard. She was preceded in death by two daughters.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Melvin Just
Melvin E. Just, 71, of Bremerton died July 31, 1999, at Forest Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born April 27, 1928, in Bremerton. He grew up in Crosby.
Mr. Just served in the Army during the Korean War. He was retired from a career as a diesel mechanic.
Survivors include his wife, Venise; a son, Jackie of California; three daughters, June Musselman and Jerri Wright, both of California, and Jenise Inda of Bremerton; a brother, Fred of Bremerton; a sister, Vivian Just; eight stepchildren; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Seabeck cemetery.
Janet Lausund
Janet Elsie Lausund, 70, of Bremerton died Aug. 1, 1999, in Bremerton.
She was born Feb. 26, 1929, in Bremerton to Harry O. and Charlotte Mae (Graves) Fitz Patrick. She graduated from Bremerton High School in 1948.
She married
Frank Lausund on June 20, 1953, in Bremerton.
Mrs. Lausund worked in the supply center at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 20 years until her retirement. She was a member of the Sons of Norway 35.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Steven Chennault of Mukilteo; a daughter, Cheryl Rodgers of Bremerton; a brother, John Fitz Patrick of Renton; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a sister.
A celebration of her life will be at 11 a.m. Aug. 21 at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A reception for family and friends will follow at the same location.

Cremation is under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Jack Thompson
John H. "Jack" Thompson, 83, of Belfair died Aug. 3, 1999, at Northwoods Lodge in Silverdale.
He was born June 10, 1916, in Gordon, Neb., to William and Dellrue (Jordan) Thompson. He was raised in Nebraska.
He married
Lorraine Nagle on April 1, 1944, in Vancouver, Wash.
Mr. Thompson joined the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1933 in Pierre, S.D. He came to Washington in 1941, and worked for the Bremerton Police Department. He was a carpenter by trade and later worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for many years before retiring.
He was a member of Belfair Community Baptist Church and was one of the first volunteer firefighters in Belfair. He also was a 47-year member and honorary past master of the Union City Masonic Lodge 27 in Valley Junction.
Survivors include his wife; a son, John of Port Orchard; a daughter, Shirley Byerly of Belfair; four grandchildren, Jeff and Tamara Byerly and Jason and Angela Thompson; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Belfair Community Baptist Church. Cremation is under the direction of Cherry Grove Memorial Park and inurnment will take place at Forest Lawn cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Lonnie Sumpter
Lonnie E. Sumpter, 91, of Bremerton died July 16, 1999, at Bremerton Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center of natural causes.
He was born Nov. 12, 1907, in Mendota, Putnam County, Mo., to Claude Manley and Rosetta Florence Gertrude (Robbins) Sumpter.
He married
Ruth Spangler in Bremerton.
Mr. Sumpter served in the Navy during World War II. He was retired from a career as an accountant for the state of Washington.
He was a member of the Sons of Norway Lodge 45 and the Washington State Retired Employees Association.
Survivors include his wife and a sister, Bessie Leona Sumpter of Centerville, Iowa. He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
Inurnment will take place at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Isabelle Middleton
Isabelle H. Middleton, 88, of Bremerton died Aug. 2, 1999, in Bremerton.
She was born Oct. 8, 1910, in Hillyard to David and Sitnah (Ellis) O'Brien. She grew up in Tekoa, graduating from Tekoa High School in 1929.
She married
Percy Middleton on Aug. 5, 1933, in Bremerton. He preceded her in death in 1994.
Mrs. Middleton worked as a waitress for the Elks Club, retiring in 1970. She also was a member of the Elks Club.
Survivors include a son, Donald McDaniel of Bremerton; 12 grandchildren, Steve, Corene, Rory, Devon, Greg, Linda, Marissa and Andrew McDaniel and Mark, Julie, Jordan and Christopher Duncan; and six great-grandchildren. In 1998, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Carole Joanne McDaniel of Bremerton.
No services are scheduled at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
