Roy Richards
Roy Allan Richards, 52, of Bremerton died Sept. 11, 1999, in Bremerton of a cerebral hemorrhage.
He was born June 21, 1947, in Tacoma to George and Annabelle May (Yost) Richards. He graduated from Central Washington University with a degree in banking and from Pacific Lutheran University with a degree in accounting.
He married Marlene Rose Graffam on July 21, 1985, in Wells, Maine.
Mr. Richards served in the Army for three years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
He worked as a revenue agent for the Internal Revenue Service. He also owned the Second Byte computer store in Bremerton.
He was a member of the HAM Radio Club of Tacoma, the AOPA Pilots Association and Unity Church of Bremerton.
Survivors include his wife; his mother; a daughter, Jaimi of Pullman; and two brothers, Keith and Larry, both of Eatonville.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Oct. 2 at Eatonville United Methodist Church for Mr. Richards and his father, who preceded him in death in July of this year.
Another memorial service is planned for Mr. Richards at 7 p.m. Oct. 8 at Unity Church of Bremerton.
Arrangements are under the direction of Tuell-McKee Funeral and Cremation Services of Bremerton.

Marie Gotchling
Marie Gotchling, 86, of Bremerton and formerly a longtime resident of Gresham, Ore., died Sept. 7, 1999, in Bremerton.
She was born June 1, 1913, on a ranch near Heppner, Ore., to Mary and James Luper Kirk. She graduated from Heppner High School in 1930, then moved to Portland, Ore., where she attended business college.
She married John Leslie Hamner on Nov. 22, 1934. He preceded her in death June 11, 1963.
She married Durrell "Jerry" Gotchling on June 22, 1968. He preceded her in death March 8, 1988.
Mrs. Gotchling worked in the fabric department at Meier and Frank in Portland, at Gresham Rexall Drug in Gresham and at Portland General Electric, also in Gresham, for 30 years. After her retirement, she served as a volunteer at Legacy Mount Hood Medical Center in Gresham.
Survivors include a son, Jim Hamner of Gig Harbor; a daughter, Judy Shanks of Sequim; five grandchildren, Kari Lund, Leslie Ballard, Molly Hughes, Shelley Shanks and T.J. Shanks; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles, and by a sister, Alice.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday at Carroll Bateman Funeral Home in Gresham.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the Chaplain's Education Fund of the Mount Hood Medical Center Foundation, Legacy Mount Hood Medical Center, 24800 SE Stark St., Gresham, OR 97030.

Leo Serl
Leo Roy Serl, 67, of Bremerton died Sept. 12, 1999, at Harrison Hospital of Lou Gehrig's disease.
He was born Aug. 24, 1932, in Prairie Hill, Mo., to Wray and Mabel (Weiher) Serl. He grew up in Yuma, Colo., graduating from Onalaska High School in Onalaska in 1953.
Mr. Serl served in the Army from 1952 to 1954. He was a private first class stationed at Fort Sheridan, Ill. His military honors included a Korean Campaign Ribbon and a Good Conduct Medal.
He was a planner and estimator and shipfitter at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. He worked at PSNS from 1955 until his retirement in 1987.
He married Jeanette Bilderback on Aug. 24, 1954, in Sandstone, Minn.
Mr. Serl was a member of Bremerton Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Survivors include his wife; his mother, now of College Place; two sons, Richard of San Marcos, Texas, and Thomas of Bremerton; a daughter, Beverly Kuhl of Bremerton; six brothers, Bob of Chehalis, Leland of Sunnyside, Glenn of Everett, Lawrence of College Place, Wray Jr. of Elgin, Texas, and John of Seattle; a sister, Linda Hebert of Everett; and two grandchildren, Ashley and Bryce Kuhl, both of Bremerton.
A memorial service is planned for 3 p.m. Saturday at Bremerton Seventh-day Adventist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be made to Bremerton Seventh-day Adventist Church, 4949 Taylor Road, Bremerton, WA 98312.

Cora Schlehuber
Cora Bell Schlehuber, 90, of Bremerton died Sept. 14, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Aug. 7, 1909, in Gregory, Mich. Her parents were Alexander and Elizabeth Cameron.
She grew up in Bremerton, graduating from Bremerton High School.
She married Harry Schlehuber on June 15, 1929, in Bremerton. The couple had been married 70 years at the time of her death.
Mrs. Schlehuber was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Roy and Jerry; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service is planned for noon Friday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Bobby Lee
Robert E. "Bobby" Lee, 74, of Bremerton died Sept. 13, 1999, at Forest Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Bremerton.
He was a triplet born Feb. 4, 1925, in Reedsport, Ore., to Oscar and Bertha (Walker) Lee. He was raised and educated in Salem, Ore.
He is survived by his brother, Elbert, and his sister, Virginia Olson, both of Bremerton.
No services are planned. A family gathering will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be made to Eden Project, Forest Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center, 140 Marion Ave. South, Bremerton, WA 98312.

Wayne Simmons
Wayne Simmons, 76, of Lemolo near Poulsbo died Sept. 7, 1999, at his home.
He was born Aug. 29, 1923, in Plateau City, Colo., to Walter and Myrtle (Hawkins) Simmons.
He married Doris Jean Johnson in 1944.
Mr. Simmons enlisted in the Navy in 1942, serving aboard the USS Sperry in 1943 and with the Amphibious Training Center in Coronado, Calif., in 1945. His unit was involved in the invasion of Okinawa, Japan, that same year.
In 1947, he was stationed at the Submarine Base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; in 1949, he served aboard USS Frontier in San Diego; in 1952, he served aboard USS Nemasket in Pearl Harbor; in 1955, he served aboard USS Luzon in Sasebo, Japan; and in 1958, he was stationed at the Schools Command in Treasure Island, Calif.
Mr. Simmons retired from the Navy in 1964, going to work for Lockheed Missiles and Space Co. in Kodiak, Alaska. In 1966, he transferred to the Naval Submarine Base Bangor, later working for Clevite/Gould in Keyport until his retirement in 1986.
He was a member of Royal Checkmates Motorcycle Club, North Kitsap Sams, Fleet Reserve Association Branch 310, American Legion Post 172, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4695 and The Retired Enlisted Association.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Milo of Chehalis and Daniel of Port Orchard; a daughter, Roberta Gillis of Indianola; six grandchildren, Joshua Simmons and Kimberly Simmons, both of Port Orchard, Joseph Gillis of Kingston, Amy Estrada and Milo Gillis, both of Indianola, and Sheila Morin of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Floyd Simmons of Merced, Calif., and Larry Cazier of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and a sister, Ivy Roe of Modesto, Calif.
A family memorial service will be conducted at a later date.

Richard Bloom
Former Kitsap County resident Richard James Bloom, 70, of Sequim died Sept. 4, 1999, at his home of a stroke.
He was born Dec. 26, 1928, in Port Townsend to Bill and Ida (Jackson) Bloom. He grew up in Big Valley near Poulsbo, attending North Kitsap High School.
Mr. Bloom served in the Army for eight years. He was stationed in Germany.
He worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring as a general foreman machinist in 1984.
Survivors include a son, Robert of Poulsbo; a daughter, Mona Pickett; a sister, Mary Ann Hill of Poulsbo; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Sept. 21 at Christ Memorial Church in Poulsbo.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Willard Braunworth
Willard W. Braunworth, 75, of Bremerton died Sept. 4, 1999, at the Veterans Hospital in Seattle after a brief illness.
He was born Dec. 19, 1923, in Victoria, Minn., to William and Alma Braunworth. He grew up in Victoria, graduating from Waconia High School in 1940. He attended Dunwoody Institute and the Minneapolis School of Business.
Mr. Braunworth served as an Army Air Corps aerial tail gunner in the South Pacific during World War II (1943 to 1946).
He married Darlene Winkler on Aug. 20, 1950. She preceded him in death in 1995 after 45 years of marriage.
The couple had lived in the Minneapolis area until 1955, when they moved to Marble, Minn., where they owned and operated Braunworth Hardware until 1984. They later moved to Twin Valley, Minn., operating Braunworth Hardware until 1991.
Mr. Braunworth retired to Southern California after his wife's death. He moved to Bremerton in 1997.
He was an active member of each community in which he lived, serving as a trustee at the Methodist church in Marble, a Boy Scout leader, a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Twin Valley Lions Club and the Masonic lodge.
Survivors include four daughters, Sandy of Oak Harbor, Ohio, Judi of Grand Rapids, Minn., Sherry of Aliso Viejo, Calif., and Lynn of Minnetonka, Minn.; three sisters, Myrtle Falk of Waconia, Minn., Mildred Conright of Garden Grove, Calif., and Bernice Winkler of Cologne, Minn.; a brother, Lloyd of Victoria, Minn.; and two grandchildren, Trevor and Jacy Hicks of Grand Rapids. His sister, Dorothy "Toddy" Maurer of Hopkins, Minn., also preceded him in death Sept. 11.
A memorial service is planned for later this fall in Young America, Minn.

Ralph Weatherly
Ralph Bernard Weatherly, 84, of Bremerton died Sept. 12, 1999, in Bremerton.
He was born Jan. 26, 1915, in Selma, Calif., to Arthur Lee and Hattie (Shaw) Weatherly. He graduated from Hollister High School in Hollister, Calif., attending San Jose State College for one year.
After leaving college, he became an engineering technical writer. Later, he worked with Westinghouse for 15 years and for Hiller Helicopters for another 15 years. He retired in 1980.
Mr. Weatherly was a member of the Elks in Bremerton.
He married I. Janet Smith on April 18, 1942, in San Jose, Calif.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Brian of Seabeck, John of Silverdale, Michael of Lacey and David of Anacortes; three brothers, Arthur and John, both of Hollister, and Laurence of Castro Valley, Calif.; a sister, May Barry of Hollister; and seven grandchildren, Melissa Weatherly-Richardson and Jeffery, Scott, Matthew, Jessica, Nick and Susanne Weatherly; and a great-granddaughter.
A memorial service is planned for 3 p.m. Friday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Cremation also will take place at Lewis Funeral Chapel.
