Gloria Olson
Gloria Patricia Olson, 74, of Bremerton died Sept. 7, 1999, at Bremerton Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born April 3, 1925, in Seattle. She grew up in Bremerton, graduating from South Kitsap High School in 1942.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include four sons, Alan Mann of St. Ignatius, Mont., Gary Mann of Port Orchard, David Anderson of Bremerton and Dan Anderson of Kingston; a daughter, Susan Nash of Yearington, Nev.; and two grandchildren, Sandra Nash of Yearington and Tim Geiger of Allyn.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Alma Burrett
Alma Leona Burrett, 82, died Sept. 2, 1999, at Ashley Gardens in Bremerton.
She was born July 23, 1917, in Nunn, Colo., to Earl and Ora (Potts) Christ. She was raised and educated in Nunn, graduating from the Nunn School in 1931.
She worked as a housekeeper before she married
Lawrence Burrett in Ault, Colo., on Nov. 30, 1939. He preceded her in death in 1994, after 55 years of marriage. The couple had lived in Bremerton off North Perry Avenue for 53 years.
She was a member of Sylvan Way Baptist Church in Bremerton, the Bremerton Art Guild, Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS), Neighbor Needlers, 4-H Club and the North Perry Fire Department Women's Auxiliary.
She taught teddy bear-making classes and quilted at the Senior Center in East Bremerton. She was known as "The Teddy Bear Lady."
Survivors include two daughters, Mildred Sullivan of Maple Valley and Christeen Burrett Cox of Bremerton; three grandchildren, Michelle Thompson of Kent, Diana Eggers of Issaquah and Dr. Donna Marshall of Renton; and seven great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life memorial service is planned for 10:30 a.m. Sept. 18 at Sylvan Way Baptist Church. Burial will take place at Ivy Green cemetery in Bremerton.

Harold Pinsch
Harold L. Pinsch, 82, of Bremerton died Aug. 30, 1999, at Bremerton Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born April 3, 1917, in Howard, S.D., to Leo and Sarah Pinsch. In 1934, his family moved to Minnesota, where he graduated from Pequot High School in 1935. In 1939, he worked on the Grand Coulee Dam.
He married
Lois Lund of Pequot, Minn., in 1940. In 1943, they moved to Bremerton.
Mr. Pinsch worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as a shipfitter. After the war, he and his wife moved to Port Angeles and worked in the logging business until 1950, when they returned to Bremerton and he again worked for PSNS.
From 1962 until his retirement in 1977, he worked in Code 135, non-destructive testing. In 1979, he formed his own company called NDT Assistance, and he taught NDT classes until selling his company in 1994. He also taught winter mountaineering at Olympic College.
He was a volunteer fire commissioner for District 19 and was a member of Olympic Mountain Rescue. He also was a member of the American Society of Non-destructive Testing and the American Welding Society. He volunteered at senior citizen centers, giving slide shows.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Joyce Magnusson of Enumclaw and Patricia Harrington of Bremerton; a brother, Richard of South Gate, Calif.; five sisters, Irene Myres of Pequot Lakes, Minn., Margaret Sarama of Apache Junction, Ariz., Rita Martin of Avon, Minn., and Mary Bertrand and Kathleen Pinsch of Bremerton; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, James Harrington, a great-grandson, James Harrington Jr. and a sister, Alyce Tate.
Visitation took place Sept. 3 at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. Funeral services followed.

Frank DeMiero
Frank "Uncle Frank" "Sitsi" DeMiero, 90, of Edmonds and a longtime resident of Belfair, died Sept. 10, 1999, in Edmonds of complications following a heart attack.
He was born May 28, 1909, in Mount Pleasant, Pa., to Paul and Anna (Figola) DeMiero. He grew up in the McKeesport, Pa., area, attending the Greenock School.
Mr. DeMiero was a technical corporal and served in the Army Airborne in Southeast Asia during World War II. He was among the first American troops to occupy Japan.
He was a member of The Military Order of the Cooties, Veterans of Foreign Wars Neil Curtis Lodge, ABC Bowling and served as a volunteer for the Belfair Fire Department.
Mr. DeMiero owned and operated Belfair Garbage services for 25 years. More recently, he owned and operated Belfair Services, installing septic tanks, drainfields and beach bulkheads throughout the Hood Canal area for more than 35 years.
Survivors include a brother, Paul of Bremerton; and a sister, Sylvia of Port Orchard.
A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Belfair.

Lloyd Neilsen
Lloyd Arthur Neilsen, 73, of Port Orchard died of natural causes Sept. 6, 1999, in Port Orchard.
He was born Oct. 7, 1925, in Fessenden, N.D., to Arthur and Caroline (Lloyd) Neilsen. He grew up in Fessenden, graduating from Fessenden High School in 1943.
Mr. Neilsen enlisted in the Navy in 1943. He retired as a chief torpedoman.
He was a member of the Elks, the Eagles, the Fleet Reserve Association, the Peninsula Fruit Club and the Master Gardners. He also worked with the Mason Bees and was known as "The Bee Man."
He married
Wanda "June" Cox on Sept. 6, 1998, at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard Chapel in Bremerton.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Keith of Lakewood and Lynn of Omaha, Neb.; a daughter, Roxie Sotak of Bremerton; three sisters, Juanita Neumiller of Enderlin, N.D., Mary Thon of Harvey, N.D., and Margie Krahler of Fessenden; four grandchildren, Scott, Matt and Tony, all of Bremerton, and John of USS Carl Vinson; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Betty Gastineau
Mary E. "Betty" Gastineau, 78, of Port Orchard died Sept. 8, 1999, in Bremerton of natural causes.
She was born Aug. 20, 1921, in Quincy, Ill., to Walter and Catherine (Thompson) Kelker. She grew up in the Quincy area, graduating from Quincy High School in 1939.
She married
Gerald R. Gastineau. He preceded her in death in 1979.
Mrs. Gastineau was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church. Organizational memberships and positions she had held included: membership chairwoman of the Sidney Art Gallery in Port Orchard, the Ann Wilson Guild of Children's Hospital, the Board of Kitsap Diversion Program, president of the Renters' Association, the South Kitsap Republican Women, the state and national Federation of Republican Women and past president of the Eagles Auxiliary. She also served as a precinct committee person for many years and worked campaigns for numerous candidates.
Survivors include two sons, Michael of Allyn and James of Port Orchard; two daughters, Sandra Stites and Susan Ellingson, both of Allyn; a brother, John Kelker of Naples, Fla.; a sister, Joann Mester of Quincy; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, Thomas and James.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, also at Rill Chapel, followed by interment at 1 p.m. at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.
Nanny Forbes
Dorothy Mae "Nanny" Forbes, 75, of Bremerton died Sept. 8, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born March 4, 1924, in Clay County, Ala., to George Thomas and Effie Mae (McEachern) Autrey. She graduated from Bibb Graves High School in Millerville, Ala., in 1942.
She married
Edward Forbes on Dec. 16, 1955, in Bremerton.
Mrs. Forbes worked for the Bremerton School District for a number of years. She had also been a member of bowling leagues in the Bremerton area.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Charles and Tim, both of Bremerton; two daughters, Rhonda Winger and Doris Lippard, both of Bremerton; three sisters, Verba Ingersoll of Bremerton and Esther McWhorter and Doris Young, both of Flowery Branch, Ga.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Sherwood, in 1991.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, also at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Burial will take place at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Donations may be made to the Oncology Department at Harrison Hospital or to the Doctors Clinic.
Naomi Stewart
Naomi Gustavia Stewart, 77, of Bremerton died Sept. 3, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Nov. 14, 1921, in New Orleans, La., to Francis and Albert Bellanger. She graduated from McDonald 35 High School in New Orleans.
Survivors include a son, Jimmie; a daughter, Beverly Hayes of Seattle; a sister, Georgiana Adams; 13 grandchildren, all of Seattle; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie, and by a sister, Gladys Baker.
A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Bremerton. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Remigio Nacpil
Remigio Santiago Nacpil, 51, of Bremerton died Sept. 5, 1999, at Naval Hospital Bremerton.
He was born in Mabalacat, Pamanga, Philippines to Porfirio and Anicia (Santiago) Nacpil. He was raised and educated in the Philippines.
Mr. Nacpil served in the Navy from May 1968 until his retirement in September 1992. He was a chief petty officer.
Following his retirement, he worked for Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) at the Naval Submarine Base at Bangor.
He married
Edna Domingo on Aug. 21, 1974, in the Philippines.
Survivors include his wife; his parents, now of California; four brothers, Adelardo of the Philippines, and Anjelo, Isagani and Camilo, all of California; and four sisters, Leticia Talens, Laura Jardin, Raquel Bellason and Cristina Galang, all of California.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Bremerton. Cremation will follow at Cherry Grove Memorial Park.
Anna Ghylin
Anna Bernice Ghylin, 86, of Bremerton died Sept. 8, 1999, in Bremerton. She had lived in Kitsap County since 1946.
She was born Feb. 28, 1913, in Oklahoma to J.E.T. and Ibble (Ball) Clark. She was raised and educated in Coalgate, Okla.
She received a bachelor's degree from East Central State College in Ada, Okla.
She married
Galen "Swede" Ghylin on Dec. 1, 1944, in Wharton, Texas.
Mrs. Ghylin taught for the Bremerton School District for 19 years, retiring in 1976.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Reliance Chapter 70 of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Homemakers Club, the Retired Teacher's Association and the Lady Elks.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Donald of Belfair; two daughters, Dr. Dorothy Ghylin of Bremerton and Ronda Clarke of Nevada; a brother, Calvin Clark of Delaware; three sisters, Faith West, Sylvia Potts and Edna Bettis, all of Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Burial will take place at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
