William Perry
William Truth Perry, 77, of Bainbridge Island died Sept. 6, 1999, at Country Manor Care Home in Silverdale.
He was born Nov. 27, 1921, in Miami, Fla. In 1930, he moved with his family to Southern California, where he graduated from high school in 1940.
Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, Mr. Perry joined the Army Air Corps, serving in England and France until the war's end.
He worked for many years at the Hollywood Plaza Hotel in Hollywood, Calif., with his father, Hubert Perry.
Mr. Perry moved to Bainbridge Island in 1979 with his sister and her family. In 1980, the family opened their first cottage retail store in Poulsbo, followed by two more stores there and one in East Bremerton. The last business was closed in 1998.
Survivors include a niece, Glee Berger, and a brother-in-law, Charles Berger, both of Bainbridge Island.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at North Kitsap Baptist Church in Poulsbo.
Fern Nichols
Fern Evelyn Nichols, 83, of Bremerton died Sept. 5, 1999, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
She was born July 11, 1916, in Downs, Kan., to Herbert and Martha (Lukritz) Remick. She was raised in Downs, graduating from Downs High School in 1934.
She married
Walter Nichols on Nov. 27, 1935, in Garden City, Kan. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Nichols was a member of First Covenant Church in Bremerton, the Kansas Club and the Senior Bowling League.
Survivors include a son, William of Lamar, Colo.; a daughter, Judith Parr of Port Orchard; her twin sister, Faye Hubbard of Minneapolis, Minn.; and three grandchildren, Jackie of Seattle, Anne Cain of Renton and Fredd Parr of Sherman Oaks, Calif.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Covenant Church. Interment
will take place at Forest Lawn cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Mary Martineau
Mary Martineau, 90, of Port Orchard died Sept. 1, 1999, of natural causes.
She was born July 12, 1909, in Taylor to Joseph and Leopoldina (Ortin) Blazick. She grew up in Port Orchard and graduated from Union (now South Kitsap) High School.
She married
Joseph Martineau on June 18, 1949, in Port Orchard. He preceded her in death in 1994.
Mrs. Martineau was a homemaker. She belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
Survivors include a son, Bill Martineau of Tampa Bay, Fla.; a daughter, Verna McLean of Port Orchard; a sister, Sophy Erdman of Kodiak, Alaska; four grandchildren, Cherie, Kevin and Gregg McLean and Glory Blacknall, all of Port Orchard; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service took place Tuesday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A private interment took place at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.
Mamie Jensen
Mamie I. Jensen, 76, of Port Orchard died of ovarian cancer Sept. 6, 1999, at Kelsey Creek Hospice Center in Bellevue.
She was born April 4, 1923, in Unico, Tenn., to B.B. and Melinda (Shelton) Cutshall. She grew up in Flagpond, Tenn.
She married
Roland Jensen in Sioux City, Iowa.
Mrs. Jensen was a member of West Side Baptist Church in Bremerton.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Roland Jr. of Tacoma; a daughter, Linda Simmonds of Tahuya; three sisters, Eunice Jenson of Bremerton, Doris Campbell of Unico, Tenn., and Porsche Gross of Kansas City, Mo.; five grandchildren, Kevin Ragsdale and Kelly Hall, both of Port Orchard, and Paul, Maile and Malia Jensen, all of Tacoma; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at noon Friday at West Side Baptist Church. Interment
will take place at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Wells Felts
Wells C. Felts, 84, of Port Orchard died of a heart attack Sept. 8, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Aug. 13, 1915, in Prescott, Ark., to Thomas and Veron (McLelland) Felts. He moved to San Diego as a second-grade student, graduating from Point Loma High School in California in 1934.
Mr. Felts was a 1938 graduate of the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. He received a master's degree in business education in Berkeley, Calif.
Mr. Felts served in the Navy from 1934 to 1958. He was a retired Navy captain, having served during World War II, in Korea and in Vietnam as an ordnance and supply officer.
He married
and his wife, Mary were wed on Aug. 17, 1976, in Salt Lake City.
Following his naval career, he was vice president of Pacific Instrument Co. in California for 12 years. Later, he was a business teacher at Southwest Community College in Coos Bay, Ore., for five years.
Survivors include his wife, Mary (Gardner) Lyons Felts; a son, Thomas of Oakland, Calif.; two daughters, Carol Fields and Helen Jones, both of Berkeley; two stepsons, Grant Lyons of Gig Harbor and Scott Lyons of Port Orchard; and four grandchildren, Tracy Jones, Rima Fields, Gabriel Fields and Conner Lyons.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, also at Rill Chapel. Interment
will take place following the service at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.
Mickey Jacobsen
Paul James "Mickey" Jacobsen, 91, of Bremerton died Sept. 5, 1999, at his home.
He was born Nov. 26, 1907, in Fresno, Calif., to Peter Otto and Katherine Elizabeth (O'Meara) Jacobsen. He grew up in Fresno.
Mr. Jacobsen served in the Marine Corps from 1928 to 1934. He served aboard USS Pennsylvania and USS Oklahoma.
He was secretary-treasurer of the Culinary Union from 1957 to 1969. He was a manager and bartender for 20 years at The Anchor, Avalon and Skipper's taverns in Bremerton, retiring in 1969.
He married
Harriett Hill on Dec. 5, 1970, in Bremerton.
Mr. Jacobsen was a member of the Eagles, designated as the oldest past president in Bremerton. He also was a life member of the Knights of Columbus and the Bartenders Association.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Richard Jacobsen of Snohomish, Steve Foster of Port Ludlow and Dave Foster and Don Foster, both of Pennsylvania; three daughters, Martha Morken of Bremerton, Harriett Robinson of Auburn and Linda Sangregorg of Ohio; a brother, Carl Johnson of Fresno; a sister, Mary of Fresno; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha; a son, Eugene; and a daughter, Rosalie Black.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Carl Hayn
Carl Hayn, 87, of Bremerton died Sept. 6, 1999, in Federal Way of natural causes.
He was born May 27, 1912, in Burlington, Iowa, to Herman and Martha (Brunken) Hayn. He grew up in Burlington.
He married
Goldie Pfaff in Wenatchee in 1929. She preceded him in death in 1992.
Mr. Hayn served in the Navy prior to World War II.
He worked as a sheet metal shop planner at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 32 years, retiring in 1963. He also taught accordion, guitar and banjo lessons in his home.
Mr. Hayn played violin in the Bremerton Symphony, was a past master of Bremerton Masonic Lodge 117 and was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Bremerton.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Glandon of Federal Way; four grandchildren, Terry Glandon and Lisa Guthmiller, both of Kent, Tim Glandon of Port Orchard and Todd Glandon of Milton; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. in the Miller-Woodlawn Chapel. Interment
will take place at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Francis Yost
Francis "Bud" Yost, 78, a resident of Grapeview for more than 20 years, died Sept. 7, 1999, at Orchard Park Rehabilitation Center in Tacoma.
He was born May 26, 1921, in Tacoma. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1939.
Mr. Yost was a first mate carpenter in the Navy during World War II.
Later, he built several homes in Tacoma, establishing a roofing company in 1950. He worked as a roofing consultant until his illness.
Mr. Yost was a lifetime member and past commodore (1954) of the Tacoma Outboard Association. He was instrumental in acquiring the grounds from the park board and constructing the clubhouse for the Tacoma Outboard Association. He also was a long-time member of Elks Lodge 174 and the North Mason Lions.
Survivors include his wife, Helen (Carlson) Yost; three daughters, Lynda of Everett, Loreali Kerr of Tacoma and Lurene Yost; a brother, Nick; two sisters, Annabelle Richards and Delores Baskett; 12 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Lynn Funeral Home in Tacoma.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Henry Thein
Henry J. Thein, 66, of Port Orchard died Sept. 3, 1999, at his home.
He was born April 13, 1933, in St. Paul, Minn., to Henry and Helen (Peltier) Thein. He grew up in Minnesota.
Mr. Thein served in the Army from 1953 to 1956, achieving the rank of mess sergeant. He had been stationed in Germany.
He was a store manager with Albertson's from 1962 to 1975 in King County. He later worked for Universal Ogden Services in Alaska for 10 years, retiring in 1991.
Survivors include two sons, Henry of Olalla and Robert of Soldatna, Alaska; a daughter, Ann Marie of Belfair; three brothers, Richard and John, both of California, and Robert of Minnesota; a sister, Doris Ann McCabe of Oregon; and four grandchildren, Amanda and Tiffany, both of Gig Harbor, Lucas of Soldatna and Haynes Tormey of Juneau, Alaska.
A graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 18 at Dearborn Memorial Park in Poway, Calif. Inurnment also will take place at Dearborn Memorial Park.
Evelyne Harris-Bayne
A. Evelyne Harris-Bayne, 84, of Port Orchard died Sept. 5, 1999, at Martha & Mary Health Care Center in Poulsbo.
She was born June 2, 1915, to Roy and Pauline (Campbell) Dill in Greenfield, Mass. She grew up in Massachusetts.
She graduated from Kipsalano High School in Vancouver, British Columbia. Later, she attended secretarial school.
She married
Ernest Harris in the early 1930s in Vancouver. He preceded her in death in 1956.
She married
Robert Bayne in 1977 in Seattle. He preceded her in death in 1990.
She worked many years for the meter division of Seattle City Light, retiring in the early 1970s. She also had been a homemaker.
She was a member of a square-dancing organization in Puyallup and had been an active church member.
Survivors include four sons, Gerald Harris and Donald Harris, both of Seattle, Norman Harris of Port Orchard and Richard Harris of Bellevue; three daughters, Judith Lorengo of Kent, Linda Hylland of Poulsbo and Janet Connors of Seattle; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Evergreen-Washelli Chapel, 11111 Aurora Ave. N in Seattle.
