James Simpson
James Larry Simpson, 61, of Poulsbo died of a heart attack Oct. 24, 1999, in Cascade, Mont.
He was born Nov. 26, 1937, in Pendleton, S.C. He attended Pendleton High School and Baptist College at Charleston, S.C.
Mr. Simpson served in the Navy from 1955 to 1966, assigned to explosive ordnance disposal. He later worked in civil service with the Navy from 1967 to 1993.
He was also co-owner of J-S Quarter Horses, training, boarding and breeding registered horses for 20 years.
He married
Sandra J. Varnadoe in 1977 in Summerville, S.C.
Survivors include his wife; his mother, Eula Mae Simpson; two sons, Sean and Lance; a stepson, Trae McElheny; a sister, Dorcas Geraldine Martin; a brother, Kenneth; and two grandchildren.
Services are pending. Arrangements are under the direction of O'Connor Funeral Home in Great Falls, Mont.

Allan Jensen
Former Bremerton resident Allan Richard Jensen, 61, of Hilo, Hawaii, died Oct. 17, 1999, at Hilo Medical Center.
He was born March 1, 1938, in Bremerton to Svend and Adda (Anderson) Jensen. He grew up in Bremerton, graduating from North Kitsap High School in 1956, and attending Olympic College.
Mr. Jensen worked as a carpenter until his retirement.
He was a Golden Glove boxer and one of the Northwest's leading shuffleboard players.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Jensen-Slate of Bremerton; two sisters, Edith Schwartz of Poulsbo and Mary Harrington of Kennewick; and two grandchildren, Dylan and Jill Slate, both of Bremerton.
A celebration of life is planned for 4 p.m. Saturday at 4200 Kitsap Way in Bremerton. A family gathering will be held Nov. 6.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Ronald Critch
Ronald William Critch, 48, of Poulsbo died Oct. 25, 1999, at his home.
He was born April 7, 1951, in Chelsea, Mass., to James and Muriel (Marshall) Critch. He grew up in Pembroke, Mass., graduating from Silverlake High School there in 1969. He graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle in 1980 and attended Golden Gate University in San Francisco.
Mr. Critch served in the Navy from 1972 to 1998, achieving the rank of commander. He was officer in charge afloat of a San Diego-based deep submergence vessel, a weapons officer aboard USS Henry M. Jackson and USS Alabama, a staff weapons officer with Submarine Squadron 17 and a school administrator at the Trident Training Facility at the Naval Submarine Base at Bangor.
His military honors include a Meritorious Service Medal, four Navy Commendation Medals and two Navy Achievement Medals.
Mr. Critch had worked for Salomon Smith Barney from 1998 until the time of his death.
He was a member of the Silverdale Chamber of Commerce and the Edgewater Beach Club in Poulsbo.
He married
Marva N. Coit on Oct. 12, 1985, in Virginia Beach, Va.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jonathan; his parents of Halifax, Mass.; and two brothers, Rich of Halifax and James of Middleburg, Fla. He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Michelle Dodge.
A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel on the Naval Submarine Base at Bangor. Interment
will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Breidablik cemetery in North Kitsap. Non-military personnel wishing to attend the service should contact Skip at (360) 779-3923 or (360) 531-0112. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Beatrice Sheehy
Beatrice Sheehy, 87, a 32-year resident of Seabeck, died Oct. 21, 1999, at her home.
She was born in 1912 to S.J. "Jack" and Florence Handron of Hoquiam.
She married
James Sheehy, originally of Seattle, in 1940. Before Mr. Sheehy's retirement from Rayonier Inc., the couple spent many years in Florida and New York.
They moved to Seabeck in 1967. Mr. Sheehy died in 1991.
Survivors include two sons, John of San Francisco and Kevin of Portland, Ore.; and three grandchildren, Caroline Bentz of Rowayton, Conn., Alison Adams of Boston, Mass., and Justin of Portland. She was preceded in death by a son, Morgan, in 1987.
At her request, there will be no services. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Irene Pipes
Irene Mae Pipes, 79, of Port Orchard died Oct. 25, 1999, at her home of natural causes.
She was born June 19, 1920, in Independence, Mo., to John and Hazel (Burns) Lacki. She grew up in Independence, graduating from high school there in 1938.
She married
William E. Pipes on Aug. 20, 1939, in Independence. He preceded her in death in 1994.
Mrs. Pipes was a member of First Baptist Church of Port Orchard and participated in the church's Glad Hearts vocal group. She was also a member of the Port Orchard Yacht Club.
Survivors include a son, William III of Colorado; three daughters, Karen Striegel of Port Orchard, Jeanette Paige of Colorado and Kathy Merry of Idaho; a brother, Herbert Lacki of California; two sisters, June Caulk of Minnesota and Joan Johnson of Missouri; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church of Port Orchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Peggy Schoonover
Peggy Jean Schoonover, 72, of Port Orchard died of a heart attack Oct. 26, 1999, in Lancaster, Pa.
She was born July 14, 1927, in Everett to John and Florence (Hanson) Houk. She grew up in Everett, graduating from Everett High School and attending Northwest Bible College in Seattle for one year.
She married
Frank Schoonover on Aug. 17, 1946, in Everett.
Mrs. Schoonover was the secretary at South Park Assembly of God Church in Port Orchard for the past 42 years. Her husband has served as pastor at the church for the same length of time.
She was an active member of South Park Assembly of God Church and had also volunteered with the Department of Social and Health Services for five years in the 1960s.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Michael and Mark, both of Port Orchard, and Peter Houk of Silverdale; five daughters, Franciene Chrisman of Olympia, Kathy Helton and Donna Speed, both of Port Orchard, Karen of Wisconsin and Jonnie of Maryland; a brother, John Houk of Lake Stevens; a sister, Annalee Sherman of Everett; 23 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A funeral service is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at South Park Assembly of God Church.

Andrew Forman
Andrew L. Forman, 26, of Port Hadlock died Oct. 25, 1999, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle following an automobile accident.
He was born Dec. 27, 1972, in Trenton, N.J. He grew up in Port Orchard, attending South Kitsap High School.
Mr. Forman worked in boat repair and maintenance.
Survivors include his father, Richard Forman of Trenton; his mother, Cheri Riehl of Port Orchard; a daughter, Maya Smith of Olympia; a brother, Jay of Des Moines; his maternal grandmother, Elsie Herdman of Port Orchard; and his paternal grandmother, Miriam Turner of Kennett Square, Pa.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Monday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Ronald Mock
Ronald M. Mock, 79, of Port Orchard died Oct. 23, 1999, at the Port Orchard Care Center.
He was born Dec. 10, 1919, in Bancroft, Idaho, to Alpha and Anna (Miller) Mock.
He moved to Southern California at a young age, later graduating from Manual Arts High School in Los Angeles. He received his bachelor's degree in botany from the University of California at Los Angeles and his master's degree in counseling from Loyola Marymount College in Los Angeles.
Mr. Mock served in the Army from 1941 to 1952. During World War II, he was in the China, India and Burma theater of operation, serving as an automatic weapons instructor and air cargo handling instructor. He advanced to the rank of first lieutenant.
He later was supervisor of psychological services with the Los Angeles School District for many years, retiring in 1979.
He married
Mary Oliver on June 21, 1952, in Los Angeles.
He was a member of the Campfire Girls Council in Los Angeles, was chairman of the board of the Rolling "J" Ranch in California, was a board member of the Message of Life and a member of the Del Rey Hills Evangelical Church in Playa del Rey, Calif. He attended Harper Evangelical Free Church in Port Orchard.
He is survived by his wife, now of Port Orchard; two daughters, Lorene Voigt of Port Orchard and Maria Sweeney of Newberg, Ore.; a sister, Dorothy Mock of Bremerton; and six grandchildren, Jessica, Michele, Renata and Josiah Sweeney of Newberg, and Christina and Sarah Voigt of Port Orchard.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Harper Evangelical Free Church in Port Orchard, with burial at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.

Helen Moore
Helen Alberta Moore, 85, of Bremerton died Oct. 25, 1999, at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center.
She was born June 30, 1914, in Blaine to George E. and Leola (Shaw) McMaster. She grew up in Bellingham, graduating from Whatcom High School in January 1935, and attending Bellingham Business College.
She also attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, and Everett Community College in Everett.
She married
Glen A. Moore on June 30, 1940, at First Baptist Church in Bellingham.
Mrs. Moore was a homemaker for most of her adult life. She had worked as a nutrition aide with the Snohomish County Cooperative Extension Office in Everett for two years.
While living in Bellingham, she was a member of the World Wide Guild Girls, the Baptist Youth Fellowship and the Art Club. After she married
, she volunteered as a Sunday school teacher in several rural church locations and with the American Sunday School Union (now known as the American Missionary Fellowship).
She helped found the Sunday school at Emander, south of Everett. She also served as a vacation Bible school teacher, a Pioneer Girls camp leader and a Child Evangelism Fellowship teacher and prayer partner.
She was a member of Lincoln Avenue Bible Church in Bremerton, participating on the Lincoln Avenue Bible Church Missions Committee and in the Women's Fellowship.
She was a member of the Nipsic Senior Singers in Bremerton for several years and had been a member of the Everett Mycological Society.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Allen of Poulsbo; a daughter, Rhoda Gage of Bremerton; two sisters, Fern Allison of Bremerton and Ruth Lamka of Orinda, Calif.; and six grandchildren, Abel Gage of Mount Vernon, Miriam Wall and Hannah Gage, both of Bremerton, and Joseph, Elizabeth and Katherine, all of Poulsbo.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. A memorial service also is planned for 2 p.m. Thursday at Lincoln Avenue Bible Church. Interment
will take place at 2 p.m. Friday at Blaine cemetery in Blaine.
