Lloyd LeFave
Lloyd E. LeFave, 67, of Port Orchard died Oct. 8, 1999, at Harrison Hospital of a heart attack.
He was born Dec. 13, 1931, in East Selah to Bernard J. and Delphine L. (Brown) LeFave. He moved to Port Orchard from Tacoma in 1939, graduating from South Kitsap High School and attending Olympic College.
Mr. LeFave served in the Air Force from 1952 to 1956. He was stationed in the United States, France and Germany as a radio technician.
He worked as a metal inspector at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1984.
Survivors include two brothers, Ken and Dale, both of Port Orchard; and two sisters, Lorette Evans of Duncanville, Texas, and JoAnn DeMoss of Gig Harbor.
A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. Thursday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. Inurnment will take place at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.

Hal Edwards
Hal Edwards, 74, of Bremerton died Oct. 7, 1999, at his home.
He was born June 25, 1925, at Saddleworth, Yorkshire, England, to Mason and Elsie (Moore) Edwards of Dobcross, Odham, England.
He was educated in Yorkshire, graduating from Dobcross National High School in 1940.
He then joined the British Merchant Navy as a cadet. He attended St. John Cass Nautical College in 1947 and was with the Merchant Marine as a first mate until 1949.
Mr. Edwards entered the United States from Canada in November 1953 on a resident visa and became a U.S. citizen in April 1963.
While in New York, he played semi-professional soccer.
He married
the former Irene Korney on Sept. 6, 1960, in Clear Lake, Iowa. They lived in Minneapolis for a time before moving to Bremerton in 1977.
Mr. Edwards worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Shop 06 from July 1977 until retiring as a machinist mechanic in August 1989.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Brett Edwards of Port Orchard; a daughter, Pam Edwards of Bremerton; and two grandchildren, Paul and Colin Edwards.
A funeral service is planned for noon Thursday at Lewis Funeral Chapel, with cremation at Cherry Grove Memorial Park.
Herbert McClintock
Herbert Carl McClintock, 92, of Port Orchard died of natural causes Oct. 8, 1999, in Port Orchard.
He was born Sept. 27, 1907, in Oregon City, Ore., to Robert and Lilly Mae (Kimmel) McClintock. He was raised in Drain, Ore.
Mr. McClintock served in the Army and Air Force from 1925 to 1958, retiring as a master sergeant.
He later worked as a bus driver for the South Kitsap School District, retiring in 1975 after 10 years.
He and his wife, the former Catherine Clark, were married
Jan. 24, 1946, in Stevens.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Gary of Redmond; three daughters, Dale McClintock of Vacaville, Calif., and Paula McClintock and Gail Alagna, both of Port Orchard; a brother, Jack of Milwaukie, Ore.; a sister, Lela Myers of Mollala, Ore.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ava McClintock, in September 1998.
No services are scheduled at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Elsie Kemper
Elsie Mae Kemper, 78, of Belfair died Sept. 26, 1999, at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Olympia.
She was born May 23, 1921, in Carrolls to John L. and Harriett Fowler. Her family moved to Rose Valley, and she attended Kelso High School, graduating in 1939.
After graduating, she went to work for Weyerhaeuser Timber Co. in Longview.
She married
Warren Kemper on April 28, 1957, in Wenatchee. They later moved to Billings, Mont., where they spent 20 years.
In Billings, Mrs. Kemper worked as a city bus driver. She also was a homemaker, seamstress, quilter and avid camper.
She belonged to Christ Lutheran Church in Belfair.
Mrs. Kemper spent the last five months of her life in assisted living at Easthaven Villa in Yelm.
Mrs. Kemper is survived by a brother, John Fowler of Rose Valley. She was preceded in death by her husband Aug. 31, 1999. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Allen C. and David Fowler, and two sisters, Harriett Wallace and Edith Gudgell.
A memorial service is planned for 12:30 p.m. Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Castle Rock.
Cremation took place at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Lacey and interment was at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent, alongside her husband.
Katherine Pangle
Katherine Kendall Pangle, 89, of Bremerton died
Oct. 11, 1999, in Bremerton.
She was born Sept. 19, 1910, in Nevada City, Calif., to Joseph and Mabel (Bagley) Kendall.
She was raised in Carson City, Nev., attending Carson City High School. After attending Arizona State University in Flagstaff, Ariz., she was a teacher in Ontario, Calif., and Montclair, Calif. She retired in 1973.
She married
Thomas Pangle in Santa Ana, Calif., on July 1, 1934. He preceded her in death in 1990.
Mrs. Pangle is survived by a daughter, Katherine Burritt of Bremerton; a brother, Jack Kendall of Bullhead City, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Chris Burritt of Sterling, Va., Thomas Burritt of Pullman and Debra Seibold and Barbara Burritt, both of Bremerton; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. A graveside service is pending.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Robert Journigan
Robert Andrew Journigan of Bremerton died Oct. 7, 1999, at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
He was born Oct. 7, 1999, to John W. and Tiffani M. (Essex) Journigan.
He is survived by his parents; two sisters, Bethani Journigan of Bremerton and Breanna Journigan of Missouri; maternal grandparents Calvin and Trish Essex of Belfair; and paternal grandparents Angelo and Casandra Journigan and Barbara Ann Journigan.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Twin Firs cemetery in Belfair. Arrangements are being handled by Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Roberta Ward
Roberta O. Ward, 79, died Oct. 5, 1999.
She was born Oct. 1, 1920, to Arthur J. and Anna Lacey McMahon in Anaconda, Mont. She graduated from St. Paul's High School and later married
John Cyrus O'Laughlin.
After his death, she moved to Seattle with her mother, brother and two children. She worked as a government contract analyst and accountant.
Mrs. Ward retired after 30 years of working at the Polaris Facility at Bangor.
In the late 1960s, she married
Col. Theodore B. Ward. They spent their retirement fishing, crabbing and traveling between homes on the Hood Canal and in Hemet, Calif.
Mrs. Ward was known to her friends as "Bobby." She was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Belfair, the Bremerton Yacht Club, the Carlsbad, Calif., Senior Center, Elderhostel and the Timberland Library Volunteers.
She is survived by two children, Ann O'Loughlin of Seattle and Jay O'Loughlin of New Mexico; a brother, James A. McMahon of Seattle; grandchildren Sara, Toby and Theresa Dougherty of Seattle; great-grandchildren Devon, Tommy and Christopher; cousin Dorothy Kelley of Seattle; stepdaughter Patti Ward of Garden Grove, Calif; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church in Seattle at 10:30 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in the Riverside National cemetery in California.
Memorial donations may be made to the Timberland Regional Library, Carlsbad Senior Center or the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
Arrangements are being handled by Bonney-Watson Capitol Hill.
Carmen Smith
Carmen Elise Smith, 88, of Poulsbo died Oct. 8, 1999, at Belmont Terrace Nursing Home of cancer.
She was born Nov. 16, 1910, in Cle Elum to Louis and Amelie (Bonnecerra) Carr. She was raised and educated in Cle Elum.
She married
Gerald B. Smith on Dec. 11, 1932, in ElHambra, Calif.
Mrs. Smith lived at Gull Harbor in Olympia for more than 18 years and also spent time living in Tacoma. She had lived in Kitsap County for two years.
She is survived by a daughter, Colette Dobrowski of Poulsbo; five grandchildren, William, Michael and Gary Christensen, Christi Lemon and Maureen Peck; and eight great-grandchildren.
No services will be held. Cremation will be at Cherry Grove Memorial Park.
Arrangements are being handled by Lewis Funeral Chapel.
