Julie Galbraith
Julie Ann Galbraith, 46, of Seabeck died Sept. 28, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born March 24, 1953, in Centralia to Arthur and Lena Rogerson.
She was a bookkeeper in the construction industry.
Survivors include her husband, Lawrence Wolske; a son, Joshua Wolske; her parents; a brother, Bill Roger-son of Centralia; two sisters, Cheryl Noel of Centralia and Beckie Kemp of Juneau, Alaska.
A memorial service is planned for 1:30 p.m. Oct. 9 at Peace Lutheran Church in Bremerton. Arrangements are under the direction of Tuell-McKee Funeral and Cremation Services of Bremerton.

Lela Green
Lela Mae Green, 75, of Port Orchard died Sept. 21, 1999, at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center.
She was born Jan. 26, 1924, in Lumberton, Miss., to Chester and Annie (Gipson) Carroll. She grew up in Lumberton.
Survivors include a son, Selby of Gonzales, La.; a daughter, Sherry Hauner of Port Orchard; three sisters, Flonell Wisener of Tallassee, Ala., and Leflora Loyd and Allie Lea Carroll, both of Whittier, Calif.; and eight grand-children, Joel Forsman and Tiffany Walden, both of Everett, Heather Sanchez of Yakima, Holly of Bremerton, Tara Landry, Joseph Mann, Lucas and Shawna, all of Gonzales; and a great-grandchild.
Dean Aitken
Howard D. "Dean" Aitken, 52, of Port Hadlock died Sept. 25, 1999, near Port Ludlow.
He was born Dec. 11, 1946, in Indianapolis to James Dean and Marilyn Aitken.
Survivors include his companion, Jackie Jackson; three sons, Christopher and Devon, both of England, and Brent of Indianapolis; two daughters, Jolynn of Poulsbo and Amy of Indianapolis; two brothers, Vernon Eden of New Mexico and Greg of Indiana; a sister, Sueanne of Indiana; and his stepmother, Dorothy of Indiana.
A memorial service is set for 2 p.m. today at Illahee State Park in Bremerton.
Emma Bach
Emma Elizabeth (Craig) Bach, 94, of Ellensburg died Sept. 6, 1999, in Ellensburg.
She was born Feb. 28, 1905, in Roslyn to Samuel Elton and Carrie Agnes Craig.
She grew up in Ellensburg, moving to Mesa, Ariz., in later years, then back to Ellensburg for many years before her death.
Survivors include two sons, Samuel of Silverdale and Chris of Ellensburg; two daughters, Emma Gable of Mabton and Leslie Nixon of Ellensburg; 28 grand-children; 43 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Otto, in 1964; her second husband, Fred Wampole; two sons, Roy and John; a daughter, Genevieve; two brothers, Robert and Roy; and two sisters, Genevieve and Ottalee.
Funeral services took place Sept. 11 with burial following in Ellensburg.

Charles Dolen
Charles Melvin Dolen, 78, of Bremerton died Sept. 29, 1999, at his home.
He was born April 9, 1921, in Spokane to John and Ada (Walters) Dolen. He was raised and educated in Spokane.
Mr. Dolen served in the Navy during World War II.
He married
Helen M. Bloechl on July 4, 1947, in Bremerton. At the time of his death, they had been married
52 years.
Mr. Dolen worked as a shipfitter at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 32 years. He retired in 1983.
He was a member of the Bremerton Senior Center.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Daniel Troub and Charles and Michael, all of Bremerton, and Earl of Port Orchard; a daughter, Judith Salway of Bremerton; a sister, Mary Bell Foster of Oregon; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Jimmie, who was killed in action in Vietnam.
A celebration of life is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at 1342 Lyle Ave. in Bremerton. Cremation is under the direction of Cherry Grove Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Atys Babbitt
Former Bremerton resident Atys Jerald Babbitt, 52, died Sept. 24 in Olympia.
He was born Aug. 8, 1947, in Muncie, Ind., to Vivian (Brooks) Studebaker.
He owned and operated a janitorial service locally.
Mr. Babbitt served in the Navy from 1964 to 1974, with three tours in Vietnam.
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Thurston County Radio Watch. He also was a volunteer greeter for Amtrak.
Survivors include his mother of Lincoln, Neb.; a brother, Brian of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; three daughters, Michelle Simmons of San Diego, and Beverly Babbitt and Jammie Scott, both of Bremerton.
Burial will take place in Portland, Ind. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 3434 Martin Way NE, Olympia, WA 98506.
Helene Marer
Helene Hope (Klau) Marer, 75, of Poulsbo died Sept. 25, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Nov. 4, 1923, in New York City to Reuben and Hannah Klau.
She graduated from Hunter College with a bachelor of science degree, completing her graduate work in invertebrate zoology at the University of Oklahoma.
She worked as a free-lance indexer, specializing in medical books, for 30 years.
She married
Herbert Marer in November 1950 in New York. He preceded her in death in 1983.
She relocated to Kitsap County in 1984, volunteering for local organizations through the years. Most recently, she was a volunteer at the Bainbridge Island Senior Center, where she also participated in a creative writing group.
Survivors include a daughter, Liz; and two grandchildren, Jeremy and Tanya.
An open-house coffee in her honor is planned for 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 10. For the location, call (360) 874-0435.

Richard Brennan
Richard L. Brennan, 74, of Tahuya died Sept. 28, 1999, in Bremerton.
He was born May 29, 1925, in St. Cloud, Minn.
He was active with the North Mason Seniors of Belfair, where he was a regular at Tuesday and Thursday dancing and social functions.
Survivors include his wife, Lori; six sons, Jim, Ed, Bill, Chip, Tim and Joe; three stepchildren, Leslie, Jeana and Ella; 18 grandchildren, Ricky, Chris, Gidget, Adam, Jacob, Cheryl, Mary Ruth, Ben, Bobby, Kimberly, Katie, Tandi, Shagg, Patrick, Mike, Jilene, George and Marie; and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1171 Sand Hill Road in Belfair.

Elma Rockwood
Elma A. Rockwood, 80, of Bremerton died of cancer Sept. 28, 1999, in Bremerton.
She was born April 21, 1919, in Buckeye, Iowa, to Albert and Marie (Hanson) Fish. She grew up in Alden, Iowa, graduating from Owasa High School in Owasa, Iowa, in 1938.
Survivors include a son, Jon of Bremerton; a daughter, Michelle Garces of Anacortes; two sisters, Esther Lott of Bremerton and Ethlyn Chaffe of Rio Dell, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Private family services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Frances Snell
Frances M. Snell, 84, of Bremerton died Nov. 24, 1999, in Bremerton.
She was born June 28, 1915, in Seattle to Homer and Ester (Hyde) Appelgate. She grew up in Washington, graduating from Garfield High School in Seattle in 1933, and from Metropolitan Business College in Seattle in 1934.
She married
James Vincent Snell on June 4, 1938, in Seattle. He preceded her in death in 1990.
Mrs. Snell had been a member of the East Bremerton High School PTA, the Pedal Pushers Garden Club, the Kitsap Golf and Country Club and the Alamander Square Dance Club.
Survivors include one son, James of Camano Island; one daughter, Joan Bales of Bremerton; one sister, Claire Schufreider of Camano Island; four grandchildren, Brian and Kevin Bales, and Jon and Jeff Snell; and two great-grandchildren.
At her request, no services are planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
