Vinka Eliason
Vinka Hill Eliason, 80, of Bainbridge Island died June 30, 1998, at Island Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Nov. 22, 1917, in Seattle. She attended high school in Ballard and graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in music.
Mrs. Eliason worked at the Society Candy Company and then later worked as a comptroller for The Boeing Co. until her retirement in 1981.
Survivors include a stepson, John Eliason of Poulsbo; a stepdaughter, Carol Cooley of Banff, Alberta, Canada; two brothers, William Randish of Seattle and Matthew Randish of Kirkland; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. July 23 at Rolling Bay Presbyterian Church with inurnment of cremated remains at Port Blakely cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Kass Funeral Home.
Edith Tinker
Edith Tinker, 88, of Silverdale died July 1, 1998.
She was born March 29, 1910, in Newfane, N.Y. She received a master's degree in music from Columbia University and a bachelor's degree in music from Oberlin College.
On Sept. 15, 1949, she married
Sheldon Townsend Tinker.
Mrs. Tinker made her living in music education in the Kenmore Public School system in New York until her retirement in 1949.
Survivors include four sons, Shel of Lincoln, Va., David of Bremerton, Robert of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Bruce of Alexandria, Va.; a daughter, Jane of Bremerton; a brother, Wayne Duncan; and seven grandchildren.
The family will conduct a private memorial ceremony. A memorial reception will be conducted at Clearbrook Inn at a later date.
Arrangements are by Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Jeffrey Wittig
Jeffrey C. Wittig, 49, of Tacoma died July 3, 1998, in Port Orchard.
He was born March 25, 1949, in Milwaukee, Wis.
Mr. Wittig served two years in the Navy. He made his living as an automotive mechanic for 33 years, owned Olympic Automotive for many years and worked in construction for the past two years.
Survivors include a son, Paul of Bremerton; a daughter, Christine Pereira of Silverdale; eight brothers, David, Joseph, Roger, Phillip and James, all of Milwaukee, and Daniel, Douglas and Paul, all of Port Orchard; three sisters, Connie Klipple and Susan Krasno, both of Milwaukee, and Elizabeth Weir of Chicago; his mother, Lorraine of Milwaukee; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. July 9 at Rill Chapel.
A funeral service will be at 4 p.m. July 10 at Rill Chapel.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the Jeffrey C. Wittig Memorial Fund for surviving grandchildren at any branch of Kitsap Federal Credit Union.
Gertrude Richards
Gertrude L. Richards, 94, of Tracyton died July 2, 1998, at Martha & Mary Nursing Home in Poulsbo.
She was born March 18, 1904, in Telluride, Colo.
In 1927, She graduated from Bellingham Normal, now Western Washington University.
On Jan. 30, 1927, she married
Carson H. Richards in Berkeley, Calif. He preceded her in death in 1996.
Mrs. Richards was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, David Richards of Oakland, Calif., and Steven Richards of Poulsbo; and four grandchildren.
At Mrs. Richards' request, there will be no services.

Florentine Schonberger
Florentine E. Schonberger, 88, of Vancouver, Wash., died June 26, 1998.
She was born Oct. 10, 1909, in Butte, Mont. She received a B.A. from the University of Montana.
In October 1940 she married
Henry Schonberger in Butte.
Mrs. Schonberger was the executive housekeeper/laundry manager for eight years at Harrison Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1970.
Survivors include a sister, Helen Watkins of Denver; and a sister-in-law, Anita Eno of Vancouver.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. July 9 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Bremerton.

Charles Rieha
Former long-time Bremerton resident Charles John Rieha, 80, of Steilacoom died Aug. 10, 1998 at Regency at Tacoma.
He was born Feb. 26, 1918 in Portland, Ore. He was adopted by Charles and Jennie Rieha, and raised in Rockaway, Ore. He graduated second in his class from Wheeler High School in 1936.
On May 15, 1946, he married
Hazel Griffin in Sitka, Alaska.
Mr. Rieha joined the Navy in 1941 and served on the USS Orca. He later worked for 24 years at the Kluge Chevrolet Company, retiring in 1982.
Mr. Rieha was a member of B.P.O.E. #1181 and Shriner's Afifi Temple in Tacoma.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Nancy of Lakewood; and a son, Charles of Steilacoom.
A memorial service was held Aug.15 at the Kingdom Hall in Lakewood.
Raymond Wartman
Raymond G. Wartman, 91, of Silverdale died Aug. 23, 1998 at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center.
He was born June 17, 1908, in Vancouver, British Columbia. He was raised in Burbank, Calif.
On June 19, 1928, he married
Frances Wartman in Des Moines. She preceded him in death.
Mr. Wartman worked for the Bremerton Police Department and as an undersheriff for the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office for 20 years, until retiring.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Heinrich of Saratoga, Calif., and Beverly Brookbank of Silverdale; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Dale Moritz
Dale Robert Moritz, 54, of Bremerton died Aug. 19, 1998 at Bremerton Naval Hospital.
Mr. Moritz retired as a chief petty officer after serving 21 years in the Navy. He earned the Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation with Gallantry Cross and Campaign Medal.
He is survived by a son, Kenneth of Bremerton; his mother, Dorothy of Bremerton; two brothers, John of Paradise, Calif., and Ralph of San Diego; and a sister, Lois Dowell of Colorado Springs, Colo.
There will be no services. Arrangements are under the direction of American Memorial.
David Wagoner
David Robert Wagoner, 76, of Portland, Ore., died Aug. 11, 1998 at his home.
He was born Sept. 15, 1921 in Hastings, Neb., to Jesse and Clara Wagoner. He graduated from high school in Hastings.
Mr. Wagoner served in the Army Corps of Engineers from 1942 to 1946.
He then graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1948 with a degree in civil engineering.
In 1952, he married
Norma Jean Johnson in Sand Point, Idaho.
Mr. Wagoner worked for the Soil Conservation Service and U.S. Department of Agriculture as a hydraulic engineer in the Seven Northwest States River Basin Planning Area, until retiring in 1977.
He was a Boy Scout leader, member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Columbia River Volksport Club, Bass and Panfish Club, National Rifle Association, Swiss Singing Society, Olympic Vintage Auto Club of Bremerton, Willy-Overland Club Northwest, Cedar Creek Grist Mill of Woodland, Fuchsia, Chrysanthemum and Dahlia Societies of Portland.
Survivors include three sons, David, Ronald and Philip, all of Portland; three sisters, Marguerite Hubbard of Hugoton, Kansas, Mary Alice Ramsey of Bremerton and Eloise Taylor of Albion, Neb.; a brother, Charles Wagoner of Redding, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews including Roberta Heath and Charlene Logsdon of Silverdale.
Olive Johnson
Olive V. Johnson, 90, of Bremerton died Aug. 21, 1998.
She was born May 19, 1908, in Lakota, Iowa to William and Nora Hoskin. She was raised in Milaca, Minn.
On Sept. 4, 1928, she married
Helmer R. Johnson. He preceded her in death in 1969.
Mrs. Johnson worked as a nurse in hospitals in St. Paul and Northfield, Minn., before moving to Bremerton in 1979.
Survivors include one son, Orton of Bremerton; two brothers, George Hoskin of New Brighton, Minn. and Irvin Hoskin of Milaca, Minn.; one sister, Margaret Olson of Milaca, Minn.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 27, in Northfield, Minn. Funeral services will follow at 1:30 p.m. Interment
will be in Faribault, Minn., under the direction of Benson Funeral Home. Local arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
