Violet Sheridan
Violet B. Sheridan, 81, of Port Orchard died Dec. 19, 1999, at Port Orchard Care Center.
She was born Sept. 7, 1918, in Visalia, Calif., to John and Gertrude (Stover) Kloth.
She was raised in Visalia and graduated from Visalia High School in 1932.
She was a homemaker most recently, but worked as a legal secretary in Visalia. She was a member of the Grandmothers' Club, the PTA and the Women's Club in Baywood Park, Calif.
She married Joe Sheridan on Oct. 31, 1942, in Visalia. He died Oct. 4 of this year.
Surviving are three sons, Mike of Atascadero, Calif., John of Palmer and James of Port Orchard; a sister, Verna Hunt of Vancouver, Wash.; and seven grandchildren, Stephen Gibbs of Washington, D.C., Jamie Sheridan and Heather Sheridan, both of Atascadero, Tammy Sheridan of Palmer, and James, Michael and Kelly Sheridan, all of Port Orchard.
A brother, Stan Kloth, died in 1982.
There will be no public service. Arrangements are by Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard.

David Leaptrot III
David Pierce Leaptrot III, 53, of Silverdale died Dec. 16, 1999, in Silverdale.
He was born July 10, 1946, in Silverdale to David Leaptrot Jr. and Marian Miller Greenler.
He attended high school in Commerce City, Colo., and graduated from Adams City High School near there in 1964.
He was a carpenter for Bremerton School District and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Port Orchard.
He is survived by his wife, Angele Warner Leaptrot of Silverdale, whom he married June 1, 1975, in Spicer, Minn.; a son, Seth, of Seattle; two daughters, Nichole Leaptrot of Bremerton and Sarah Leaptrot of Olympia; a brother, Richard of Belfair; and one grandchild, Jasmine Leaptrot-Atkins.
A service is planned for 6 p.m. Tuesday at Faith Temple Church of God in Christ in Bremerton. Cremation will be at Cherry Grove Memorial Park in Poulsbo. Arrangements are by Lewis Funeral Chapel in Bremerton.

Jane Browitt
Jane A. Browitt, 63, of Bremerton died Dec. 17, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Aug. 18, 1936, in Ellensburg to Hugh and Hazel (Crutcher) Barnett. She grew up in Cle Elum and graduated from Cle Elum High School in 1954. She attended Central Washington University.
Mrs. Browitt worked for Kitsap Mental Health, retiring in 1998.
She married Robert Frank Browitt on Oct. 19, 1957, in Cle Elum.
Mrs. Browitt is survived by her husband; her mother, Hazel Broderson of Silverdale; two sons, Steven of Great Falls, Mont., and Kenneth of Bremerton; two daughters, Linda of Kenosha, Wis., and Luann of Buchanan, Mich.; and six grandchildren, Joseph, Nicole, Scott, Megan, Rachel, and Mike.
A private family memorial service is planned. Arrangements are by Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Eleanor Priddy
Eleanor V. Priddy, 89, of Seabeck died Dec. 16, 1999, in Silverdale.
She was born June 21, 1910, in Ballard. She grew up in Seattle and graduated from Ballard High School in 1928.
She married Riley Priddy in 1938 in Everett.
Mrs. Priddy owned and operated Handcraft Sea Shells from 1946 until her retirement in 1989. In the 1930s, she was a manager at Manning's, and in the 1940s she became the first female meat cutter in Seattle. She and her husband developed 40 acres in Seabeck known as Priddy Vista.
She was a member of the Seabeck Community Club, Bremerton Soroptimist and many arts and library clubs in the area.
Mrs. Priddy is survived by a sister, Irma Tranum of Olympia. Her husband preceded her in death in 1962.
At her request, there will be no services. Burial will be at Forest Lawn cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Kitsap County, P.O. Box 3416, Silverdale, WA 98383.

John Munn
John Stephen Munn, 82, of Chehalis died Dec. 16, 1999, in Centralia.
He was born Feb. 2, 1917, to John and Dorothy (Derry) Munn in Coulee City. He attended school in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho, and was a member of the ROTC at Washington State University, where he attended college.
He married Ruth Greene on Sept. 1, 1942, in Moscow, Idaho.
He was an electrician for 33 years at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1972. He felled the timber and milled the lumber for the home they built in Port Orchard in 1950. They moved to Chehalis in 1993.
Mr. Munn enjoyed reading, singing hymns and fishing trips with his daughters. He was an elder of the Sunday morning fellowship meetings held in his home.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Gayle Pearson of Chehalis and Kathleen Lewis of Milwaukie, Ore.; four sisters, Jeanette Munn of Escondido, Calif., Phyllis Munn of Bakersfield, Calif., Frances Hunt of Everett, and Emily Jones of New Paltz, N.Y.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Munn, and a sister, Isabelle Melius.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday at Sticklin Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sticklin Funeral Chapel with Dan Lawty and Jeff Peterson officiating. Burial will follow at Claquato cemetery, with a pot luck reception afterward at the Virgil R. Lee Building in Chehalis.

Selma Strand
Selma N. Strand, 92, of Bremerton died Dec. 8, 1999, at Bremerton Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center of heart failure.
She was born June 1, 1907, in Seattle to Carl William and Anna (Olander) Nelson. She grew up in Seattle.
She worked as an executive secretary with Seafirst Bank, retiring in 1968.
Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

John Mossi
John Mossi, 90, of Port Orchard died Dec. 16, 1999, at Port Orchard Care Center.
He was born Jan. 15, 1909, in Bellinzona, Switzerland. He immigrated to Petaluma, Calif., in 1929.
Mr. Mossi worked as a butcher in California for 30 years, retiring in 1988 and moving to Port Orchard.
Survivors include one son, John of Rohnert Park, Calif.; two daughters, Darlene Boom of Port Orchard and Kathleen Barton of Santa Rosa, Calif.; one brother of Switzerland; one sister of Switzerland; two grandchildren, Tim and J.D., both of Port Orchard; and three great-grandchildren.
A private, family memorial service is planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Arthur Oesterhaus
Arthur M. Oesterhaus, 79, of Bremerton died Dec. 17, 1999, in Bremerton.
He was born Oct. 28, 1920, in the farming community of Junction City, Kan. He attended schools in Kansas, Montana and Pasco, graduating from Bremerton High School in 1938.
He married Lorraine Zwick. She preceded him in death in 1981.
Mr. Oesterhaus joined the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), serving three times with Co. 945 stationed in Goldendale. He also worked with the Soil Conservation Service.
He later worked with Puget Sound Power and Light before going to the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in June 1941. He completed an apprenticeship as a marine electrician at PSNS.
In 1944, he enlisted in the Navy, serving as an electronics technician. Following his military service, he returned to PSNS where he traveled internationally with his job. He retired in 1973 as a supervisor- electronics planner-estimator.
After retirement from the shipyard and from his own television-service business, Mr. Oesterhaus worked 10 years with Art Anderson Associates as a technical writer, traveling again for naval ship inspections.
In the early 1950s he served with the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 550, as a committeeman and scoutmaster.
Mr. Oesterhaus was a member of Summit Avenue Presbyterian Church. He was a deacon for three years.
Survivors include two sons, Glen and Roy, both of Bremerton; one daughter, Carolyn Cunningham of Boynton Beach, Fla.; one sister, Margaret Jasper of Auburn; and four grandchildren.
At his request, no services are planned. Burial will take place at Forest Lawn cemetery in Bremerton.
Memorial donations may be made to Summit Avenue Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 4216, Bremerton, WA 98312.

Christopher Secor
Christopher Guy Secor, 43, of Port Orchard died Dec. 14, 1999, in Port Orchard.
He was born Sept. 11, 1956, in Longview to William and Vella (Wise) Secor. He grew up in Kelso, graduating from Kelso High School.
Mr. Secor graduated from Lower Columbia College in Longview and from The Ocean Corporation (diving school) in Houston.
He served in the Army from 1974 to 1978, attending noncommissioned officer's school and jump school. He was a Green Beret, a sergeant and a sky diver (Airborne Ranger). He retired from the Army because of a disability.
Mr. Secor worked 10 years as a welder at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. He also had been a professional diver and underwater medic for two years.
He coached his son's soccer team for four years and his baseball team for two years. He also had coached his daughter's softball team for seven years, going to state competition each year and to national competition for two years.
Survivors include his mother; one son, Andrew of Port Orchard; one daughter, Maggy of Port Orchard; one brother, Gary of Sedro Woolley; three sisters, Ruby Nail, Debra Parks and Janet, all of Kelso; his grandparents, Guy and Naomi Wise and William and Ruby Secor. He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, William; and a sister, Mary.
Visitation is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday, also at Rill Chapel. Inurnment will take place at Cowlitz View Memorial Park in Kelso.

Mary Schickle
Mary M. Schickle, 67, of Sequim died Dec. 16, 1999, near Discovery Bay from injuries received in an automobile accident.
She was born March 7, 1932, in Altoona, Penn., to John and Edith (Bochman) Gearhart. She grew up in Pennsylvania, graduating from high school there.
She married Johann Schickle on Sept. 17, 1966, in Lake Tahoe, Nev.
After her marriage, she lived in Connecticut, Hawaii and Bremerton, moving to Sequim in 1993.
She worked as a product demonstrator at Costco in Silverdale and Sequim.
She was a member of Suncatcher RV Club, serving as secretary.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Stephan of Poulsbo and David Shaal of Delaware, Ohio; two daughters, Stephanie Bates of Blaine, Ark., and Deborah Shaal of Delaware, Ohio; one brother, Ken Gearhart of Escondido, Calif.; one sister, Helen Damms of Haveloc, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
A memorial service is planned for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sequim Valley Chapel.
