Tony Czarnecki
Anthony Albert "Tony" Czarnecki, 69, of Bremerton died Dec. 7, 1999, in Seattle.
He was born March 28, 1930, in Shamokin, Pa., graduating from Shamokin High School in 1948.
Mr. Czarnecki had lived in Port Angeles for 12 years and had been a resident of Bremerton for the past eight years.
He was an electrician in the Navy for 30 years.
Survivors include his wife, Alice of Bremerton; one daughter, Denice Ulowetz of Marysville; one stepson, Victor Knickerbocker of Bremerton; one stepdaughter, Annette Erickson of Bremerton; two brothers, Chet of Pennsylvania and Leonard of Texas; four sisters, Jane Purvis of Georgia, Genevieve Prunkel of Florida, Val Mostacio of California and Marie Bachtell of Maryland; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for 9 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel at Naval Submarine Base Bangor. Arrangements are under the direction of Cremation Society Northwest in Lynnwood.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Jim Harris
Calvin Milford "Jim" Harris, 85, of Bremerton died Dec. 10, 1999, in Bremerton.
He was born Feb. 18, 1914, in St. Louis, Mo., to Dr. Irwin and Clarissa (Milford) Harris. He grew up in Missouri, a resident of Brentwood and later Webster Groves.
Mr. Harris was an avid photographer, having worked in that field at the small arms plant in St. Louis during World War II. He later worked for Dealer's Services in St. Louis and in St. Charles, Mo.
Survivors include his wife, Florence of The Willows Retirement Apartments in Bremerton; one son, James; two grandchildren, James of Seattle and Amy of Olympia; and two great-grandchildren.
An inurnment service will be held at a later date in the family mausoleum at the Valhalla cemetery in St. Louis. Arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.

Theodore Nutter
Theodore Nutter, 98, of Poulsbo died Dec. 10, 1999, in Silverdale.
He was born July 10, 1901, in Talmo, Kan., to Charles and Grace (Kelly) Nutter. He was raised and educated in Hisham, Mont.
At the age of 16, Mr. Nutter "rode the rods (railways)" to the Pacific Northwest from Montana to get work at the shipyards during World War I. His shipyard work was shortlived, as he soon became employed by the Great Northern Railway.
He married
Ella Tolstrup on June 6, 1932, in Seattle. She preceded him in death in 1992.
Mr. Nutter worked in the railway's Inter Bay office in Seattle as a clerk. In 1958, he and his wife moved to Minneapolis, where he worked in the office of the president of GNR as the supervisor of data coordination.
He was also head of the Troop Bureau for GNR. He coordinated with the military at the end of World War II and during the Korean War, transporting troops home after their return to the United States. He retired in 1966, after 48 years with the railway.
Mr. Nutter was a member of the Elks in Ballard.
Survivors include one son, Dick of Poulsbo; one sister, Caroline Hilgar of Seattle; and one grandson, Robert of Quilcene. He was also preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.

Dorothy Sanders
Dorothy Martha Sanders, 85, of Tacoma died Dec. 12, 1999, in Tacoma. She had been a resident of Bremerton for approximately 18 years.
She was born Jan. 9, 1914, in Worthing, S.D.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Tacoma and Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Bremerton. She was a member of the altar society in both churches.
She was also involved with the Wright Park Writer's Group and was a past president of the Women's Auxiliary of the National Association of Plumbing Contractors of America (1963 to 1964).
Survivors include four sons, James Jr. of Maryland, Michael of California, Stephen of Rapid City, S.D., and Robert of Tacoma; two daughters, Mary Helen Steenson and Elizabeth Burris, both of Tacoma; one sister, Helen McCarthy of Colorado; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James, in 1996.
A memorial service is planned for 4 p.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with a reception following. Arrangements are under the direction of Tuell-McKee Funeral Home.
Patricia Brewer
Patricia Ann Schindler Brewer, 71, of Wilkesboro, N.C., whose sisters live in Bremerton, died Dec. 11, 1999, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
She was born March 16, 1928, in King County to Laurence and Lillian Trunde Schindler.
She was a retired office manager at the Salisbury Children's Clinic and a member of St. John's Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband, William, of Wilkesboro; three daughters, Nancy York of Winston-Salem, N.C., Jody Brewer of Wilkesboro and Sherri Myers of Spencer, N.C.; two sisters, Barbara White and Joan Boden, both of Bremerton; a brother, Donald Schindler of Port Angeles; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in North Wilkesboro. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at her church.
Les Mears
Leslie "Les" L. Mears, 50, of Bremerton died Dec. 9, 1999, at Bremerton Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born March 25, 1949, in Yakima to Lawrence Mears and Charlene Dybdahl. He grew up in Moxee and attended East Valley High School.
He served in the Army and the Marines as a helicopter mechanic from 1967 to 1974.
As a child, he worked in the hops fields of Yakima. Most recently, he was a lagger at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
Mr. Mears is survived by his mother; an ex-wife, June Syslo Mears of Spanaway; a brother, Larry Mears of Bremerton; and two sisters, Elsie Hall of Bremerton and Darlene McDonald of Ogden, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his father and his step-father, Louie Dybdahl.
An open house celebrating Mr. Mears' life will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Elsie Hall's residence, 2343 Trenton Ave., Bremerton.
Inurnment will be at 11:30 a.m. March 25, 2000, at Terrace Heights Memorial Park in Yakima.
Arrangements are being handled by Pendleton-Gilchrist at Rill Chapel.

Theodore Shaddox
Theodore Marko Shaddox, 50, of Bremerton died Dec. 10, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born May 13, 1949, in San Francisco to Lonnie and Celina (Chacon) Shaddox. He grew up in Daly City, Calif., and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1967.
After high school, he began an apprenticeship program as a machinist at Hunters Point shipyard.
He moved to Kitsap County two years ago.
Mr. Shaddox also enjoyed restoring cars and upholstering.
He is survived by two sons, Derrick of Hayward, Calif., and Marcus of Santa Rosa, Calif.; a daughter, Sarah Shaddox of Santa Rosa; and four brothers, Lonnie Wayne and Lonnie Clayton Shaddox, both of Bremerton, Thomas Shaddox of El Sobrante, Calif., and Robert Montanao of Lake Tahoe, Calif.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Lawn cemetery.
William Barros
William Barros, 71, of Poulsbo died Dec. 10, 1999, at Belmont Terrace Nursing Home.
He was born April 29, 1928, in Wareham, Mass., to Barney and Dominga (Allen) Barros. He was raised and educated in Massachusetts.
He entered the Air Force in 1948 and retired as a major in 1969. He served in the Philippines, in Japan and was stationed across the United States.
Mr. Barros was a boxing coach while in the Air Force. After his retirement, he worked with the California Boxing Commission and became its executive officer.
He is survived by two sons, Blake of Poulsbo and Bruce of Santa Rosa, Calif.; a daughter, Barbara Barros of Santa Rosa; a stepson, Tim Sturm of Santa Rosa; and five grandchildren, Jenni, Kati, Sara and Billy Barros and David Dyess.
Inurnment services will be held in Sebastopol, Calif. Cremation arrangements are being handled by Lewis Funeral Chapel and Cherry Grove Memorial Park.
Janet Lou Perez
Janet Lou Perez, 45, of Bremerton died Dec. 8, 1999, at Naval Hospital Bremerton.
She was born June 3, 1954, in St. Louis, Mo. She married
Abel Jose Perez.
Mrs. Perez worked as a home-care nurse.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Mark; one daughter, Tasha; and one sister, Barbara Hall of Spirit Lake, Idaho.
Visitation is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Perry Avenue in Bremerton, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment
will take place at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent. Arrangements are under the direction of Tuell-McKee Funeral Home of Bremerton.
MaeBelle Fitzpatrick
MaeBelle E. Fitzpatrick, 91, of Port Orchard died Dec. 9, 1999, at her home.
She was born Nov. 19, 1908, in Daggett, Mich., to Eric and Selma (Bergstrom) Carlson. She graduated from Kingsford High School in Iron Mountain, Mich., in 1926, and from Upper Peninsula School of Nursing in Marquette, Mich., in 1952.
She married
William Ross Fitzpatrick on Feb. 18, 1928, in Toledo, Ohio. He preceded her in death in 1988.
She was a licensed practical nurse, having worked at Tacoma General Hospital for 12 years. She retired in the 1960s.
Mrs. Fitzpatrick was a member of Burley-Glenwood Baptist Church in Port Orchard.
Survivors include two sons, William and Dori, both of Balibago, Philippines; two daughters, Marilyn Hofferber of Lakewood and Gail Allison of Port Orchard; one brother, Walter Carlson; nine grandchildren, Robert and Patrick Eakes, Michael Allison, and Ross, Mollie, Melinda, Melonie, Judyann and Diana; and four great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a grandson, Timothy Eakes.
Visitation is scheduled for 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment
will take place at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.
