Mr. Dennis Dean Anderson; Age: 52, died at his residence in Port Orchard on December 28, 2001.
He was born in Bremerton, Washington on June 22, 1949 to Melvin Anderson and Darlene(Fisher)Anderson.
Dennis joined the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and achieved the rank of Seaman Apprentice.
Dennis worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for thirty two years, and was a member of Local 302. He greatly enjoyed fishing, golfing, and refinishing antiques.
He is survived by his mother, Darlene Anderson of Port Orchard; his son, Dennis D. Anderson II of Port Orchard; daughters, Sheila Hann of Sparks, Nevada and Cheryl Townson of Granite Falls, Washington; brothers, Howard A. Anderson of Gig Harbor, and Ralph M. Anderson of Tacoma, Washington;
Sister, Kristen L. Anderson of Port Orchard, and Carol P. Anderson of Bainbridge Island, Washington; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service in Mr. Anderson's honor is scheduled for Thursday, January 3, 2002 at 2:00 p.m., at Rill Chapel. Chaplain Tim Roth will be officiating. A reception will follow at Rill Chapel. Private inurnment is scheduled for January 4, 2002 at Fraola cemetery.

Velma Maurine Dayton, Age: 92, resident of Port Orchard, died at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton on December 16, 2001.
Velma was born in Kansas City, Missouri on October 28, 1909 to Frank and Mattie(Dawson)McKenzie.
She dedicated her life to being an Artist.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Mulhausen of Tigard, Oregon; and two grandchildren.
No services are planned at this time. Inurnment will be at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard, Washington.

Lily was born on February 16, 1955 in Everett, Washington to Frank and Margaret(Branch)Thomas Sr.. She was raised in Snohomish County, Washington.
On August 6, 1988, Lily married
Nick Carter in Bremerton, Washington. She spent her career as a Homemaker. She enjoyed being a Girl Scout Leader, and was the Ombudsman for the U.S.S. Sacramento from 1996-1999.
Lily is survived by her husband, Nick, of the family home; her mother, Margaret, and Step-father, L.W. Mooneyham of Port Orchard; daughter, Caroline and husband, John Douglass of Jacksonville, North Carolina; daughter, Ruth and husband, James Boggs of Racine, Wisconsin; brother, Frank C. Thomas Jr., of Seattle, Washington; sisters, Peggy A. Whitaker of Arizona; Carrie Lynn Crawley of Richmond, Virginia; Martha and June Thomas of Port Orchard; step-sister, Tina Kennedy of Bremerton, Washington; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
A memorial service in Lily's honor will be held at Port Orchard Eagles from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m., on Sunday, January 13, 2002. The family has asked that any memorial contributions be made to "Special Olympics".

Elsie Anna Marie Nelson, Age: 94, resident of Port Orchard, Washington, died on January 7, 2002, at Ridgemont Terrace Care Center in Port Orchard.
Elsie was born on May 15, 1907 in Butterfield, Minnesota to August and Minnie(Elting)Schwietert. On May 18, 1925, she married
Nelson S. Nelson in Elkpoint, South Dakota. Mr. Nelson preceded her in death in 1995.
Elsie was a Homemaker, who truly enjoyed making crafts. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Port Orchard.
Elsie is survived by a son, Jack Nelson of Port Orchard; a step-daughter, Virginia Hottinger of Wisconsin; a brother, Ferd Schwietert of Chicago, Illinois; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
A private inurnment will take place at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard. The family has asked that any memorial donations be made to First Lutheran Church, 2483 Mitchell Road, Port Orchard, Washington, 98366.

Mr. Steven Sean Pierre Jr., Age: 27, resident of Port Orchard, Washington, died on January 4, 2002 in a vehicle accident.
Steven was born in Spokane, Washington on August 20, 1974 to Steven Nelson Pierre Sr., and Cuniwelia(Locust) Pierre.
He attended Cusick High School, Cusick, Washington, graduating in 1992. He then attended Olympic College in Bremerton.
Steven is survived by his companion, Erica Lin Jackson, of Port Ludlow, Washington; his parents, Steven of Spokane and Cuniwelia of Usk, Washington; daughter, Ryean Renee Pierre of Usk; brothers, Scott Michael Pierre of Spokane; Troy Anthony Pierre of Usk; sisters, Renee Allison Monkiewicz of Salem, Massachusetts; Stephanie Louise Stoops of Port Orchard, and Venessa Ann Marion.
A rosary in Steven's memory will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2002, at 7:00 p.m., at Kalispel Community Center in Usk, Washington. The funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows, in Usk, on Thursday, January 10, 2002 at 10:00 a.m.. He will be buried at Kalispel cemetery #2 in Usk.

Richard D. "Dick" McGee, Age: 81, died of natural causes at his residence in Port Orchard, Washington on January 14, 2002.
Dick was born on March 18, 1920 in Halsey, Oregon to Samuel and Emma(Geer)McGee. He graduated from "Irene S. Reed" High School in Shelton, Washington in 1938.
Dick served proudly in the United States Army Air Corps from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1945. He achieved the rank of Sergeant. Dick received the European-African Mid Eastern Campaign medal and a World War II Victory Medal.
On May 2, 1942, Dick married
Dorothy L. Rice in Shelton, Washington. He spent thirty three years working at the Bremerton Annex Naval Ammunition Depot, Bangor and Keyport, retiring in 1974.
Dick enjoyed traveling, working with wood, and the company of his family. He was a member of the Port Orchard Methodist Church.
Dick is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy, of the family home; son, Ron, and his wife, Joy, of Ellensberg, Washington; sisters, Irene Henderer and Thelma Austin of Shelton; and two grandchildren, Erin McGee and Chuck Earle. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Denise Marie(McGee) Earle in 2001.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 18, 2002, at 2:00 p.m., at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard. Interment
will follow at Sunset Lane cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, January 17, 2002 from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m., and Friday, January 18th, 9 a.m., until the time of the service. A reception will be held at Rill Chapel.
The family has requested that any donations be made to a charity of choice.

Mr. James "Jim" Arthur Lemon, Senior, Age: 56, died at his residence in Port Orchard, Washington on December 19, 2001.
Jim had been born on November 18, 1945 in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, to Charles and Alvina(Solum)Lemon.
He graduated from South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard. Following high school, Jim joined the United States Navy. He served aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt during the Vietnam war, achieving the rank of E-3. Jim received the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign medal, and a Purple Heart.
Following his tour of service, Jim owned his own business for thirty plus years, "Jim Lemon Doors". He was a member of the VFW and he enjoyed serving his customers.
Jim is survived by his companion of fifteen years, Karen Phillips; his parents, Charles and Alvina Lemon of Port Orchard; sons, James Lemon Jr., and Marty Lemon of Port Orchard; Jody and Corey Lemon of Bremerton; daughters, Rhonda Lemon of Port Orchard, and Kristina Lemon of Tacoma, Washington; brothers Wilbur Lemon of Port Orchard, and Ervin Lemon of Seattle; sisters, Lois Lemon and Linda Smith of Port Orchard; and five grandchildren.
A funeral service for Mr. Lemon is scheduled for Friday, December 28, 2001 at 11:00 a.m., at Rill Chapel, 1151 Mitchell Avenue, Port Orchard, Washington. Public viewing is scheduled for Thursday, December 27, 2001. A reception will be held following the service at Rill Chapel. Burial will take place after the funeral at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.

Gwen M. Jenkins, Age: 85, resident of Manchester, Washington, died on December 18, 2001 at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton, after a long term illness.
Gwen was born in Grand Mounds, Washington on June 5, 1916 to Winnifred(Dove) and Frank Morris. She attended Rochester High School, Rochester, Washington, graduating in 1933.
On May 5, 1934, Gwen married
Frank James Jenkins in Hollywood, California. He preceded her in death in 1974.
In 1960, Gwen attended and graduated from Knapp College of Nursing in Santa Barbara, California, and from UCLA in Los Angeles in 1962.
She made her career as Professor of Nursing at Knapp College of Nursing, and Santa Barbara City College. Gwen enjoyed traveling, and was a "Birder" with the National Autobon Society.
She is survived by daughters, L. Diane Lemmon of Port Orchard; Joyce Dunham of Lincoln, California; brother, DeWitt "Bud" F. Morris of Kernville, California; seven grandchildren, twenty five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Seymore Morris.
A memorial service in Gwen's honor is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., on December 29, 2001 at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard. Pastor Mark McClean will be officiating. Inurnment is scheduled for December 30, 2001 at Grand Mounds, Washington. A reception will follow the memorial service at the Rill Chapel Hospitality room.

Robert Lincoln Beal

Mr. Robert Lincoln Beal, Age:76, resident of Vaughn, Washington, died in Tacoma after a long term illness.
Robert was born on April 15, 1925 in Port Angeles, Washington to Cecil and Alice(Smith)Beal. He graduated fromSouth Kitsap High School.
Robert served in the United States Army during World War II, from 1943 until 1946. He was an Airborne Paratrooper in the South Pacific, and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was decorated with the Bronze Star and the Combat Infantry Badge. He was honorably discharged following his service to our country.
Mr. Robert Beal married
Betty Aarshaug in Port Orchard, Washington on October 25, 1947. He spent forty six years as an Electrical Engineering Designer at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Code 270-2, retiring in 1985.
Robert was extremely active with the Boy Scouts of America. All of his five sons attained the distinction of "Eagle Scouts", as well as one grandson. He was decorated with the "Silver Beaver" award, which is the highest award that an adult can receive in the Boy Scouts.
Mr. Beal is survived by his devoted wife, Betty, of the family home in Vaughn, Washington; sons, Michael Beal and wife, Cathy, of Gig Harbor, Washington; Bruce Beal and wife, Lorraine of Port Orchard; Dean Beal and wife, Lori, of Gig Harbor; Scott Beall and wife, Cathy, of Gig Harbor; Cecil Beal and wife, Wendi, of Vaughn; brother, Ralph Beal of Roseburg, Oregon; sister, Bernice Mode of Junction City, Oregon; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Alice, one brother and a sister.
A funeral service in Mr. Beal's honor will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2002, at 11:00 a.m., at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard. Reverend Larry Mead will be officiating. Committal will follow a reception at Rill Chapel, at 1:00 p.m. at Sunset Lane cemetery.
