Geraldine Darby
Geraldine "Gerry" Darby, 74, of Poulsbo has died.
She was born Aug. 12, 1924, in Skykomish.
Survivors include her husband, Quentin; her two children, Quentin and Dianne; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Sarah Wendt
Sarah Rose "Rosie" Wendt, 16, of Seabeck died Aug. 20 of injuries suffered in a car accident.
She was born July 25, 1982, at Bremerton and raised in Lone Rock.
She was the daughter of Georgia N. (Reid) Lee of Lone Rock and John Randy Wendt of Bremerton.
Ms. Wendt attended Klahowya High School where she had completed her sophomore year.
She played school sports, and especially enjoyed working with young children. She served as a volunteer at Camp Easter Seal for children and adults with disabilities.
She was enrolled in the jump-start program at Olympic College to gain more knowledge for a career working with disabled people.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her grandparents, Dorothy Culver of Bremerton, and Henry Wendt of Point Roberts.
A memorial service will be held at Miller-Woodlawn Chapel, 5505 Kitsap Way, Bremerton, at 11 a.m. Aug. 25.

Anthony Catania
Anthony "T.C." Catania, of Hansville died Aug. 9, 1998.
Mr. Catania was born in Canada in 1916.
He founded Bemco Mfg., Tavern Supply Co. and Bar Mart. He lived in Seattle until his retirement in 1974, when he moved to Hansville.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; a son, Anthony; two daughters, Nancy and Terri; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
At his request, there will be no service. His final resting place will be at his Point No Point farm.

Andre Yob
Andre Jonathan Louis Yob, 18, of Bremerton died Aug. 12, 1998, in Roseburg, Ore., in an automobile accident.
He was born April 21, 1980, in Bremerton to Joseph C. Yob and Rosemarie (Marchitto) Stacy. He attended Bremerton High School and would have graduated in 1999.
His favorite pastimes were swimming, fishing, camping, motorcycling and basketball. He had planned to enter the military after graduation.
Survivors include his parents; a brother, Steffan Stacy of Port Orchard; two sisters, Melissa Spencer and Monika Stacy, both of Port Orchard; and his grandmother, Shirley J. Robbins of Bremerton.
A private family funeral service will be conducted, with a memorial service to be announced at a later date.
Lilly Hower
Lilly A. Hower, 81, of Port Orchard died Aug. 19, 1998, at Ridgemont Terrace Care Center.
She was born Sept. 25, 1916, in Burley, Idaho. She has been a resident of Kitsap County since 1941.
In July 1956, she married
Harold Hower in Nampa, Idaho. He preceded her in death in 1990.
Mrs. Hower was a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Port Orchard.
Survivors include a son, Jay Blackburn of Gig Harbor; three daughters, Deann Hokanson of Port Orchard, Virginia Burgess of West Valley City, Utah, and Bonnie Walton of Gig Harbor; a stepson, Arnold Hower of Port Orchard; three brothers, Joseph of Nampa, Vernal of Meridian, Idaho, and Glen of Nampa; five sisters, Dixie Winston of Nampa, Ruby Johnson of Melba, Idaho, Pearl Noble and Verna Newby, both of Kuna, Idaho, and Marjory Armstrong of Pocatello, Idaho; 17 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Aug. 22 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Port Orchard, with a funeral service immediately following at noon. Interment
will follow at Sedgwick cemetery in Port Orchard.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

James Barrieau
James (Jim) M. Barrieau, 63, of Kingston died Aug. 19, 1998, at his daughter's home in Port Ludlow.
He was born April 1, 1935, in Bremerton to John and Ethel (Rodda) Barrieau. He graduated from Bremerton High School in 1953.
On Dec. 27, 1952, he married
Claudia Florence in Bremerton.
Mr. Barrieau was employed at NUWES Ordnance Annex, Bangor and Indian Island for more than 30 years, retiring as a supervisor in 1990.
Survivors include his wife; a son, James of Kingston; two daughters, Kimberly Wright of Port Ludlow and Vicki Free of Poulsbo; two brothers, Tom of Bremerton and Ernie of Dixon, Calif; two sisters, Berle Woodward and Ivy Miller, both of Bremerton; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Aug. 20 and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 21 at Lewis Funeral Chapel, with a funeral service at 1 p.m. Aug. 22, also at Lewis Chapel. Interment
will be at Forest Lawn cemetery.

Vivian Lumsden
Vivian Rae Lumsden, 58, of Port Orchard died of cancer Aug. 18, 1998, at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
She was born May 12, 1940, in Glasgow, Mont., to Sid and Goldie Moir. She was raised in Malta, Mont. She graduated from Malta High School in 1958, and later attended Kalispell College.
In April 1958, she married
Red Lumsden in Kalispell, Mont.
Mrs. Lumsden worked for Bremerton Cycle from 1967 to 1979 as an accountant and bookkeeper. She later worked in the family business, RV Associates/General Contracting, which was involved in a large variety of local building projects including roads, the Target store in Silverdale, Harrison Memorial Hospital medical buildings in Port Orchard and Silverdale, local schools and the new roundabout in Port Orchard.
She played first-chair clarinet in the Kalispell Flathead Band and was an avid supporter of the family's motorcycle and racing events.
Survivors include her husband; her mother, of Whitefish, Mont.; two sons, Rob and Mick of Port Orchard; a daughter, Coni of Lynnwood; five brothers, Ray of Calif., and Tom, Pete, Bob and Dennis, all of Montana; a sister, Pat of Oregon; her grandmother, Dode Keninberger of Malta; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon Aug 22 and 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 24 at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Aug 24 at Grace Bible Church in Port Orchard.

Virginia Van Daele
Virginia Lorraine Van Daele, 79, of Poulsbo died Aug. 18, 1998.
She was born May 11, 1919, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Thorstad and Virginia Klabunder. She graduated from Mechanic Arts High School in 1937.
On Sept. 27, 1943, she married
Walter Van Daele in Fort Snelling, Minn. He preceded her in death in 1996.
Mrs. Van Daele made her living as a clerk/typist for the California Department of Water and Power for 10 years until her retirement in 1975.
She was a member of the Mount Whitney Chapter of the Eastern Star in Independence, Calif.
Survivors include two daughters, Pam of Poulsbo and Connie Aurand of Indianola; and a granddaughter, Amanda Aurand of Indianola.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Aug. 21 at the Liberty Bay Park Gazebo on Anderson Parkway, Poulsbo, with private family inurnment at Poulsbo City cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.

Willetta Keen
Willetta H. Keen, 85, of Bremerton died Aug. 17, 1998.
She was born Dec. 1, 1912, in Chehalis to William Howard and Hazel B. (Scott) Eisenhauer.
On Jan. 10, 1930, she married
Orville Keen in Chehalis. He preceded her in death in 1996.
She was a member of Eastern Star, Business and Professional Women, and she owned and operated Wagon Wheel Ceramic in Port Orchard.
Survivors include a son, William of Silverdale; a daughter, Georgia Hutterman of Lakewood, six grandchildren, Becky Argyle, Amy Connelly, Mike Keen, Howard Connelly, Susan Consalus and David Connelly; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be announced at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
James McConnaughey
James Terry McConnaughey, 82, of Bremerton died Aug. 15, 1998, at Belmont Terrace.
He was born Aug. 1, 1916, in Winfield, Iowa.
Mr. McConnaughey served in the Army as a captain in World War II. He made his living for many years in Kitsap County in automobile sales. He retired in 1981.
He was an honorary member of the Puget Sound Retriever Club and a member of the VFW of Bremerton, Post No. 239.
Survivors include two sons, Larry of Seattle and Neill of Oregon City, Ore.; a daughter, Helen Schrader of Tracyton; a sister, Helen Ogston of Sun City, Ariz.; and three grandchildren, Chris and Jon McConnaughey of Prescott, Ariz. and Jake Schrader of Bremerton.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Aug. 22 at the VFW Post No. 239 on National Avenue in Bremerton.
