Phillip Bailey
Phillip Wayne Bailey, 46, of Bremerton died Dec. 7, 1999, at Northwoods Lodge in Silverdale.
He was born Sept. 7, 1953, in Vallejo, Calif., to Donald and Joyce (Bynum) Bailey. He lived in California until he was 12, when his family moved to Bremerton in 1965.
Mr. Bailey attended elementary school in Port Orchard, as well as Marcus Whitman Junior High School there. He graduated from Central Kitsap High School in 1971, and attended Olympic College for two years.
While attending school, he had worked in summer for the forest service. He was employed in Shop 26 at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard from 1978, until his retirement this year due to ill health.
Mr. Bailey had coached the Shop 26 baseball team, the Hot Rods.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Joyce and Gene Brigham of Bremerton; his father and his companion, Donald Bailey and Amy Bentley of Bremerton; two brothers, Gregory of Kingston and Donald of Bremerton; and one sister, Cindy Moyer of Bremerton.
Visitation is scheduled for 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Lewis Funeral Chapel, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. and a graveside service.

Cynthia Moreno
Cynthia Lee Moreno, 47, of Bremerton died Dec. 7, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Aug. 4, 1952, in Vallejo, Calif. She was raised and educated in the Sonoma, Calif., area.
She married
Thomas Moreno in 1981, in Lake Tahoe, Calif.
She had worked as a commercial artist, specializing in tole painting, and was a certified Duncan Ceramics instructor.
She was a member of the Torch of Beta Sigma Phi and had attended Sylvan Way Baptist Church in Bremerton.
Survivors include her husband; her father, Harold Regalia of Fairfield, Calif.; a son, Johnny of San Francisco; three daughters, Angela Espinoza of Napa, Calif., and Celena Garcia and Kathy, both of Bremerton; a brother, Greg Regalia of Fairfield; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for 4 p.m. Friday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Inurnment will take place in California.
Nelse Olson
Former Bremerton resident Nelse O. Olson, 82, of Spanaway died Dec. 5, 1999, in Tacoma.
He was born June 4, 1917, in Weatherford, Texas. He graduated from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas.
Dr. Olson retired from the Navy with more than 21 years of service, including World War II and the Korean War.
He was an ophthalmologist in private practice in Bremerton for more than 13 years. He was a Bremerton resident for nearly 45 years.
Dr. Olson was a 32nd Degree Mason.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mildred; and two sons, Nils "Nick" and Eric.
At his request, no services are planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Tuell-McKee Funeral Home.
Gertrude Klein
Gertrude Lucille Ann Klein, 78, of Port Townsend died Dec. 5, 1999, at her home. She was a resident of Port Townsend for 45 years.
She was born June 25, 1921, in Bemidji, Minn., to William and Rose (Boulduc) Wagner.
She married
Louie Sukert in 1941, in Bemidji. The couple moved to Jefferson County in 1957. Mr. Sukert preceded his wife in death in 1959.
She married
Harry Klein in Mojave, Calif., in 1962. He preceded her in death in 1981.
Mrs. Klein was a homemaker and had been a foster mother to several children.
Survivors include one son, Hank Sukert of Port Townsend; three daughters, Mary Bryant of Bremerton, Rosalie Hallenbeck of Monroe, Wash., and Margaret Baumunk of Seward, Alaska; two sisters, Rosemary Sukert of Sequim and Margaret Fuller of Port Townsend; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Jerry Sukert.
A celebration of her life is planned for 1 p.m. Sunday at The Highway 20 Roadhouse in Port Townsend.
Arrangements are under the direction of Kosec Funeral Home.

Catherine Schneider
Catherine F. Schneider, 74, of Bremerton died Dec. 4, 1999, at Forest Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center of natural causes.
She was born Aug. 21, 1925, in Bronx, N.Y., to Constantine and Garouflia (Giannoulis) Stokas. She grew up in Bronx.
She married
Paul Schneider on Feb. 5, 1956, in New York. The couple moved to Bremerton in 1965. Mr. Schneider preceded her in death in 1998.
Mrs. Schneider was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Paul of Sumner and Carl of Puyallup; two brothers, Tom Stokas of Saratoga, Fla., and Alex Stokas of Tivoli, N.Y.; two sisters, Rita Stokas of West Palm, Fla., and Georgia Egan of Easton, Conn.; and two grandchildren, Jeremy Keisler of Sumner and Ali Catherine of Puyallup.
A memorial service is planned for 3 p.m. Friday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Lana Gudewicz
Lana Marie Gudewicz, 14 weeks of age, died Nov. 26, 1999, at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma.
She was born Aug. 17, 1999, at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, to Dr. Thomas and Roxann (Bajakian) Gudewicz.
She is survived by her parents; and her grandmother, Margaret Bajakian of Providence, R.I.
A private service is planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Vella Edmondson
Vella Mora Moss Edmondson, 86, of Bremerton died Dec. 6, 1999, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Dec. 18, 1912, in Custer County, Okla., to Benjamin and Grace (Spillman) Moss.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman "Eddy" Edmondson.
Visitation is scheduled for noon to 1 p.m. Friday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m.

Arthemise Gregersen
Former Bremerton resident Arthemise B. Gregersen, 87, of Seattle died Dec. 6, 1999, in Seattle of natural causes.
She was born Feb. 3, 1912, in Denmark, Wis., to James and Olivia (Ebbesen) Petersen. She was raised and educated in New Jersey.
She married
John Gregersen in 1937, in New Jersey. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Gregersen was a member of the Sons of Norway and the Danish N.W. Society.
She is survived by a sister, Anna Muller of Atco, N.J.

Edgar Peak
Edgar Howell Peak, 79, of Poulsbo died Dec. 3, 1999, in Poulsbo.
He was born May 15, 1920, in Colorado Springs, Colo., to Edgar and May (Howell) Peak.
Mr. Peak served in the Navy from July 1941 to 1945. He was an aviation machinist and pilot.
After leaving military service, he worked as a pilot instructor in Southern California. He then worked at a lodge in Yosemite National Park in order to be close to nature and enjoy outdoor recreation.
In the early 1950s, Mr. Peak began working for the Southern Pacific Railroad, overseeing maintenance and inspections of passenger trains in San Francisco. He retired in 1979 as a claims adjuster for the American Association of Railroads.
He married
Patricia Cook on Oct. 26, 1974, in Carson City, Nev. The couple moved to Long Beach, Wash., when Mr. Peak retired, then moved to Poulsbo in 1983.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Kevin and Gary, both of San Rafael, Calif.; and one brother, Howard of Kerrville, Texas.
Inurnment will take place at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent.
Arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.

Jack Edmonson
Jack Willis Everett Edmonson, 76, of Poulsbo, died Dec. 6, 1999, in Poulsbo.
He was born April 15, 1923, in Big Sandy, Texas, to Charles and Winnie (Gore) Edmonson. He grew up in Loop, Texas, graduating from Loop High School in 1939, and from Texas A&I; University in 1947, with a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering and a master's degree in physics in 1951.
Mr. Edmonson served in the Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1946, and in the Army Reserve from 1947 to 1949.
He was a corporal in the Army Air Corps, instructing groups of enlisted men in high altitude bombing and electronics, as well as teaching at an Army Air Force installation.
He received the World War II Victory Medal, the American Theater Medal and Good Conduct medals.
From 1947 to 1951, Mr. Edmonson worked for Shell Oil Company as a physicist. He worked for P.E. Narvarte Geophysics Consulting from 1951 to 1967.
In 1967, he began working as a nuclear physicist at the Naval Undersea Warfare Engineering Station at Keyport, leaving that job in 1984. He then went to work for Honeywell Inc. as a computer analyst, retiring in 1988.
He married
Mattie Sue Deville on Nov. 17, 1951, in Kingsville, Texas.
Mr. Edmonson was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, Jack Jr., Charles, David, Robert and Richard, all of Poulsbo; two daughters, Mary of Poulsbo and Jackie Wagnon of Sand Springs, Okla.; one sister, Bettye of Fort Davis, Texas; and four grandchildren, Margeaux and Cody Wagnon, of Sand Springs, and Chelsea Lye and Christa of Poulsbo. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly in October 1998.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Friday at North Kitsap Baptist Church in Poulsbo. A graveside service will follow at Cherry Grove Memorial Park in Poulsbo. Arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.
