Kay Anderson
Kay Jolee Anderson, 64, of Bremerton died Jan. 20, 2000, at Harrison Hospital of cancer.
She was born Feb. 13, 1935, in Alta, Iowa, to Clifford and Orvetta (Bergen) Carlson. She grew up in Alta, graduating from Alta High School in 1952.
She married
Roger Anderson on June 8, 1952, in Alta.
Mrs. Anderson was a member of Peninsula Bible Fellowship and the Good Sam Club, O.K. Sams Chapter.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Roger of Bremerton; one daughter, Carol Cotton of Vicksburg, Miss.; one brother, C. Arlen Carlson of Alta; one sister, Carroll Ottrok of Omaha, Neb.; and five grandchildren, Grant, Rachel and Jake Anderson, all of Bremerton; and Mikiah and Stephanie Cotton.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Sylvan Baptist Church in Bremerton. Arrangements are by Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

JoAnna Sinnett
JoAnna Sinnett, 78, of Bainbridge Island died Jan. 20, 2000, at Lynnwood Manor in Lynnwood.
She was born June 4, 1921, in Scobey, Mont., to Julius and Anna (Kindzerski) Severt. She grew up in Daniels County, Mont., graduating from Daniels County High School, from Northern Montana College and from Providence School of Nursing in Seattle.
She worked as a registered nurse at Messenger House and at Island Health and Rehabilitation, both on Bainbridge Island.
Survivors include five sons, Bill of Bellingham, Dave of Silverdale, John of Cashmere and Mike and Bob, both of Bainbridge Island; one daughter, Cindy Irwin of Mukilteo; one brother, John Severt of Bainbridge Island; and 10 grandchildren.
A funeral service is planned for 1 p.m. Thursday at Port Madison Lutheran Church on Bainbridge Island. Arrangements are by Kass Funeral Home.

Arlys Hewitt
Arlys L. Hewitt, 74, of Lynnwood died Jan. 20, 2000, at Stevens Hospital in Edmonds.
She was born May 25, 1925, in Badger, Minn., to Elmer and Selma (Severson) Hewitt. She grew up there and graduated from Badger High School in 1943.
She was a member of Elim Lutheran Church in Port Orchard and worked as a secretary there for 22 years, retiring in 1990. She also volunteered at nursing homes.
She is survived by a son, Douglas of Lynnwood; five brothers, Wilmer Setran of Seattle, Conrad Setran of St. Paul, Minn., Donald Setran of Minneapolis, Harold Setran of Lynnwood, and Richard Setran of Omaha, Neb.; a sister, Joanne Haugen of Lynnwood; a grandson, Douglas Doble of Port Angeles; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Renae Doble; a granddaughter, Christine Doble; a brother, George Setran; and a sister, Gladyce Wilken.
A visitation will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard and from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Elim Lutheran Church. A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will follow at Sunset Lane cemetery.

Thomas Dailey
Thomas Edgar Dailey, 80, of Coos Bay, Ore., and formerly of Bremerton, died Jan. 20, 2000, in Coos Bay.
He was born July 16, 1919, to Lewellyn and Myrtle May (Bunch) Dailey in Whites.
He was raised and educated in Elma and served in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater.
He worked for many years as an electrician at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
After retiring from the shipyard, he lived in his motor home, spending winters in the Southwest and summers in the Northwest. He married
Olive Struthers Dailey on Jan. 17, 1993, and they traveled the West until settling in Coos Bay.
He was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons, the Escapees and Lows RV clubs, and Sunrise Resorts and Parks.
Survivors include his wife, of Coos Bay; three sons, Eben and Thomas, both of Vaughn in Pierce County, and Robert of Coos Bay; a daughter, Janene Low of Amboy; two stepdaughters, Verna Baker of Coos Bay and June Bryant of Gardnerville, Nev.; eight grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and 12 step-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Marlatt Funeral Home in Kent, under the direction of Nelson's Bay Area Mortuary in Coos Bay.
Conrad Boede
Conrad Thomas Boede, 88, of Seabeck died Jan. 22, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Aug. 26, 1911, to Conrad William and Amy Violet (Paxson) Boede in West Sound, San Juan County. He grew up on Orcas Island and attended high school there.
He married
Myra Greenleaf on Nov. 18, 1939, in Olympia.
He retired in 1979 after
10 years as a custodian with the Central Kitsap School District. He had also worked as the Orcas Island postmaster, and he and his wife owned and operated Central Kitsap businesses the Broiler Buffet Restaurant and The Gilt Edge from 1962 to 1979.
He was a past master of Masonic Lodge No. 6 in Port Townsend and a member of the Active Club there.
Mr. Boede is survived by a daughter, Barbara Hunt. He was preceded in death by his wife and a brother, Winfred.
Private family services are planned. Arrangements are being handled by Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Arlys Hewitt

Clara Giddens
Clara P. Giddens, 75, of Bremerton died Jan. 14, 2000, in Seattle. She was born Aug. 2, 1924, in Kentucky and in 1952 married
James Brooks in Knox County, Ky.
She enjoyed crocheting and worked as a seamstress in New Orleans. Mrs. Giddens moved to Bremerton after retirement in 1989.
She is survived by four sons, Jessie Brooks of Seattle, Julius Brooks of Texas, James Brooks of New Orleans and Johnny Brooks of Port Orchard; one daughter, Kitty Brandenburg of Bremerton; and 10 grandchildren.
A memorial service is being held today from 1 to 3 p.m. at Navy Yard City Bible Church.
Nancy Lee Beckes
Nancy Lee Beckes, 88, of Poulsbo died of respiratory failure Jan. 18, 2000, at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton.
She was born Aug. 29, 1911, in Monongahela, Pa., to Sarah Beatrice and Lee Shearer. She graduated from Ohio Weslyan College in 1933 and worked as an English teacher in Adena, Ohio, before marrying Howard Beckes in 1936.
The family moved to Seattle in 1956. Her husband preceded her in death in 1960.
Mrs. Beckes worked for 20 years at Prudential Insurance Company in the mortgage loan division. After retiring in 1977, she moved to Poulsbo to be with her family and grandson.
She enjoyed playing bridge and reading.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Don Anderson of Poulsbo; and her grandson, Earl Anderson of Huntington Beach, Calif.
A celebration of her life will be at 1 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Cedar Glen clubhouse on Highway 305 near Poulsbo, followed by a bridge party in Mrs. Beckes' memory.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Scrafima Boysen
Scrafima Boysen, also known as Sima Boysen, died Jan. 18, 2000, at her home on Bainbridge Island. She was 91.
Born May 22, 1908, in Tsarskoje-Selo, Russia, she grew up in Estonia. She was educated as a dental technician. Upon her marriage, she moved to Sweden and became an interpreter. She was fluent in six languages. Most recently, she was a homemaker.
She was an accomplished gymnast and one-time world record holder in the women's 60-meter sprint race.
She is survived by her husband, Karl, of Bainbridge Island; two daughters, Maia Primgaard of Castle Rock, Colo., and Ulla Boysen of Bainbridge Island; and two grandchildren.
A private family gathering is planned for Jan. 23. Kass Funeral Home of Bainbridge Island is handling arrangements.
Vernon Seitz
Vernon Alvin Seitz, 75, of Belfair, died Jan. 20, 2000, at his home.
He was born Nov. 20, 1924, in Mt. Rose, S.D., to Edwin and Mary (Shorwood) Seitz. He was raised in South Dakota and moved to Tacoma in 1941.
Mr. Seitz served with the Army Air Force during World War II and was a tail gunner on a B-29 bomber, receiving the Victory Medal, American Theater Service Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal. He was discharged in 1946.
He worked as a house mover for 13 years, then became a longshoreman who was employed on the Tacoma docks until retirement in 1977. Mr. Seitz moved to Belfair in 1982.
He was a life member of VFW Post 239 of Bremerton and F.O.E. 4226 of Belfair. Mr. Seitz enjoyed fishing in Alaska and traveling.
Survivors include Willadee (Lathrop) Seitz, his wife of more than 50 years; a son, David Bass of Orlando, Fla.; two daughters, Martha Romer of Colville, Wash., and Vicky Holmes of Riderwood, Wash.; three brothers, Emerson of Puyallup, Harold of Tacoma and William of Tumwater; two sisters, Eleanor Wahl of Tacoma and Phyllis Winter of Fallon, Nev.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Jan. 29 at the Silver Moon in Belfair. Cremation will be at Cherry Grove Memorial Park.
Glenn Smith
Glenn M. Smith, 84, of Bremerton died Jan. 20, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Dec. 21, 1915, in Tacoma to Susan and Earl Smith and grew up in the Tacoma-Vaughn area. He enlisted in the Navy in 1932 and served aboard the battleship USS Arizona from 1933 to 1936. He re-enlisted in 1942, serving in the 99th Seabees and attaining the rank of chief boatswain's mate before leaving the Navy in 1945.
He married
Florence J. Hadley in May 1938 in Tacoma, and the couple moved to Bremerton in about 1940. He was employed in transportation at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1967.
For a number of years, Mr. Smith and his wife enjoyed trailer traveling and seeing their grandchildren.
Mrs. Smith preceded her husband in death in 1988, and their eldest son, Eugene, died in 1953.
Survivors include a son, Brian of Hansville; a daughter, Susan Baker of Port Orchard; five grandchildren, Todd Smith of Poulsbo, Corey Smith of Bainbridge Island, Jamie Lawing and Michelle Orr of Richland, and Emily Baker of Port Orchard; and six great-grandchildren.
At his request, there will be no services.
Ray Kim
Ray Kim, 70, of Bremerton died Jan. 21, 2000, at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton following a short illness.
He was born May 26, 1929, in Vietnam to Ui and Cane Thi Kim. After graduating from high school there, Mr. Kim enlisted in the South Vietnamese Army in 1948. He was discharged in 1973 and came to the United States in 1985.
He is survived by his son, Vincent Kim, and daughter, Betty Tran, both of Bremerton.
A Buddhist service will be held 11 a.m. today at Miller-Woodlawn Chapel in Bremerton. Inurnment will be in Vietnam.
