Ralph Berggren
Ralph L. Berggren, 68, of Port Orchard died of cardiac arrest Dec. 27, 2000, in Seattle.
He was born Dec. 30, 1931, in Seattle to Lars and Alice (Bradseth) Berggren.
He graduated in 1949 from Bothell High School and in 1962 from the University of Washington.
He married Jane Eberharter on Aug. 22, 1958, in Seattle.
He served in the Naval Air Reserves.
He worked for Pacific Northwest Bell for 32 years, retiring in 1983.
He enjoyed golf and his family. He was a Christian.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Fritz of Miami, Eric of Seattle and Ralph of Bellevue; a daughter, Alice Strong of Bellevue; and four grandchildren.
A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. Interment icon will take place at Sunset Lane cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the University of Nations, (YWAM) 75-5851 Kuakini Hwy, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740.

Janice Chrisman
Janice Chrisman, 36, of Olalla died Dec. 26, 2000 at home.
She was born July 18, 1964, in Renton to Lyle and Betty Kennedy. She graduated in 1983 from Evergreen High School in Seattle and in 1987 from South Seattle Community College.
She was a plan administrator for 15 years.
Survivors include her parents of Olalla; four brothers, Ken of Maple Valley, Greg of Benton City, Eddie of Sequim and Terry of Lynnwood; two sisters, Jeannie Gordon of Grapeview and Julie Brensdal of Kent; and her grandmother, Una Kennedy of Valley City, N.D.
Visitation is scheduled from noon to 5 p.m. today at Greenwood Memorial Park in Renton. A funeral service is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday also at Greenwood Memorial Park.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 2383, Bremerton, WA 98310, or the American Diabetes Association-Washington Affilate, 557 Roy St., Lower Level, Seattle, WA 98109-4219.

Billie Loeffelman
Willa "Billie" Loeffelman, 56, of Bremerton died Dec. 26, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born May 22, 1944, in Bremerton to Lester and Naome (Hampton) Jones. She attended Bremerton High School and Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif.
She married Kenneth Loeffelman in Bremerton on Nov. 25, 1970.
She was a supply management specialist at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
She enjoyed flower gardening and RV traveling. She was a member of the Unitarian church.
Survivors include her husband; her mother; and a sister, Sharon Sykes of Mount Vernon.
At the family's request, no service will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Roman Hanasz
Roman Hanasz, 78, died Dec. 24, 2000, at his Port Townsend residence.
He was born March 19, 1922, in Chicago to Roman and Janina (Gardecka) Hanasz. He graduated in 1940 from high school in Chicago.
He married Helen Oakins in Winterhaven, Calif., in 1966.
He served in the Marine Corps, achieving the rank of gunnery sergeant. He served 21 years, retiring in 1963. He was awarded two purple hearts.
He worked for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1993.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Keats of Port Townsend; a daughter, Christine Hanasz of Las Vegas; a stepdaughter, Sharon Craun of Corona, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
No services are planned.

Carlo Hallia
Carlo John Hallia, 86, of Silverdale died Dec. 25, 2000, at Messenger House Care Center.
He was born Nov. 6, 1914, in Seattle to John and Milja (Englund) Hallia. He graduated in 1931 from Union High School and from the University of Washington in 1936.
He married Irene F. Uitto on Sept. 2, 1938, in Seattle.
He was a member of the Harrison Hospital board for nine years. He enjoyed hiking.
He was a member of Silverdale Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife and two daughters, Kaaren Brooks of Seabeck and Elora McKenzie of Talcott, W.Va.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Jan. 2, 2001, at Silverdale Lutheran Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Carolynn Bond
Carolynn Eve Bond, 63, of Seabeck died Dec. 25, 2000, at Harrison Hospital after a long-term battle with cancer.
She was born Dec. 24, 1937, in Kelso, to Norris and Doris (Brown) McGinn. She graduated from Issaquah High School in 1954 and attended a business college.
She was a bookkeeper for Clint Sloan Real Estate Agency in Fairfield, Calif., retiring in 1994.
She enjoyed art and gardening. She was a Lutheran.
Survivors include a son, Mike Lightner of Kent; four daughters, Deborah Hunter of Seabeck, Lisa Heft and Jennifer Burton, both of Kent, and Kimberly Hollkamp of Belfair; a sister, Patricia Michalak of Tracyton; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Visitation is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. at Evergreen Lutheran Church in Seabeck. Interment icon will take place at Forest Lawn cemetery.

Erna Kinney
Erna Cecelia Kinney, 81, of Port Orchard died Dec. 23, 2000, at her home.
She was born Oct. 23, 1919, in Los Angeles, to Charles and Mary (Helfrick) Cosman. She graduated from Alhambra High School in Los Angeles in 1937.
She married George Kinney on July 4, 1940, in Los Angeles.
Mrs. Kinney enjoyed square dancing and round dancing. She was a member of the Catholic church.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, John of San Antonio, Texas, and George E. Kinney of Bakersfield, Calif.; a daughter, Vivian Williams of Hacienda Heights, Calif.; a brother, John Cosman of Oregon; three sisters, Mildred Kofoed of North Hollywood, Calif., Arabelle Bishop of San Gabriel, Calif., and Ellen Floto of La Puente, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in Los Angeles. Local arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Harold Walstrom
Harold Elmor Walstrom, 66, of Bremerton, died Dec. 21, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Feb. 20, 1934, in Oregon City, Ore., to Clarence and Alice (Beardsley) Walstrom. He graduated from Rainier High School in Rainier, Ore., in 1952 and from the University of Washington in 1962.
Mr. Walstrom served in the Army during the Korean War.
He worked as an electrical engineer at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for more than 20 years.
Mr. Walstrom was a member of the Bremerton Central Lions Club. He enjoyed square dancing.
Survivors include his mother, Alice Boutain of Morton, Wash.; a sister, Joyce Shambow of Coquille, Ore.; four brothers, Jim Walstrom of Tacoma, Larry McCool of Kelso and Bill and Ken McCool, both of Rainier.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date. Cremation will take place at Cherry Grove Crematory with inurnment at Wilamette National cemetery in Portland, Ore. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Arnold Palmer
Arnold H. Palmer, 76, of Bremerton, died of cancer Dec. 25, 2000, at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center.
He was born Oct. 7, 1924, in Kankakee, Ill., to George and Ruth (Downing) Palmer. He graduated in 1941 from Manteno High School in Manteno, Ill.
Mr. Palmer served in the Army during World War II, achieving the rank of master sergeant.
He married Bernice Maiworm on Oct. 1, 1949, in Chicago. She preceded him in death in 1998.
Mr. Palmer was a plant engineer for 35 years, retiring in 1985.
He enjoyed golf and spending time with his friends at The Willows Retirement Living Community.
Survivors include a son, Keith of Bremerton; a brother, Ralph of Plattsmouth, Neb.; a sister, Darlene Boggs of Bourbonnais, Ill.; and two grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Harlan and Orville.
A celebration of life is planned for 10 a.m. Jan. 13 at The Willows Retirement Living Community in Bremerton.

Reba Perkins
Reba Brace Perkins, 77, died of natural causes Dec. 26, 2000, at her Hansville home.
She was born Aug. 20, 1923, in Seattle to Harry and Myrtle Brace. She graduated in 1941 from Queen Anne High School in Seattle and attended Mills College in California.
She married Harlan M. Perkins on Oct. 7, 1943, in Seattle.
She was a homemaker and a private secretary for 18 years, retiring in 1983.
Mrs. Perkins was a member of the Hansville Community Church, Seattle Bible Study Group and the Hansville Lady's Aid and Gardening Club.
She is survived by her husband; a son, Todd of Puyallup; a daughter, Jan Epperson of Chelan; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Jan. 2 at the Hansville Community Church. Inurnment will take place at Hansville cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to the Hansville Community Church, Hansville, WA 98340.

William Middleton
William Middleton, 56, of Port Orchard died Dec. 26, 2000, in England.
He was self-employed. He enjoyed coaching soccer.
Survivors include his companion, Bette of Port Orchard; two sons, Gary and Mark, both of England; a daughter, Halley of England; and six grandchildren.
Services will be held in England.
