Edna Hardell
Edna S. Hardell, 86, of Burley died Dec. 21, 2000, at Port Orchard Care Center.
She was born Oct. 9, 1914, in Seattle to Louis and Lottie Gross. She married
Kenneth Lake in Port Orchard and later, Herman Hardell in Reno. Both preceded her in death.
She graduated in 1933 from Foster High School in Seattle.
Mrs. Hardell was a homemaker and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars women's auxiliary at Post 2669 in Port Orchard.
She is survived by a sister, Lora Long of Moses Lake.
There will be no service. Inurnment will be at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Adeline Kelso
Adeline R. Kelso, 82, of Seattle died of natural causes Dec. 22, 2000, in Seattle.
She was born on Oct. 29, 1918, in Quincy to Benhardt and Regina (Schorzman) Dormaier.
She married
Don Kelso in San Diego in 1950. While he was in the Navy, they lived in Cyprus, Honolulu and Bremerton, where they retired. He died in 1994.
She was a 1936 graduate of Cashmere High School. She later graduated from Wenatchee Business College.
Mrs. Kelso was a seamstress and milliner.
She is survived by a brother, Alfred Dormaier of Monitor, Wash. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Robert.
A service will be at
11 a.m. Thursday at Lincoln Avenue Bible Church in Bremerton.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Michael Briody
Michael Kent Briody, 55, of Soap Lake died Dec. 21, 2000, in Grant County.
He was born July 22, 1945, in Evansville, Ind., to Robert and Helen (Rouch) Briody.
He married
Karen (Jones) Briody on Nov. 1, 1986.
He graduated from Evansville High School.
He worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for eight years and at Genie Industries in Moses Lake for four years.
He served in the Army.
Mr. Briody loved to fish and camp.
He is survived by his wife, of Soap Lake; his stepmother, Martha Briody of Evansville; two sons, Aaron and Chad, both of Soap Lake; a daughter, Debbie Briody of Bremerton; a brother, Gary Briody of Evansville, and two sisters, Peggy Briody of Evansville and Pat in Indiana.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, also at Rill Chapel, with burial at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.
Thomas Mason
Thomas Judge Mason, 70, formerly a Tracyton resident, died
Dec. 21, 2000, in Tampa, Fla.
He was born Nov. 1, 1930, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Frank and Martha Atkins. He was later adopted by George Mason.
He was a 1949 graduate of Central Kitsap High School, where he was class president, captain of the football team and a member of the ski team.
He enlisted in the Air Force in 1949 and served until 1953.
In 1952, he married
Jean Harris in Seattle.
He was employed by The Boeing Co. from 1953 until his retirement in 1987.
He enjoyed family, camping, fishing and golf.
Survivors include his wife Yvonne of Tampa and three stepchildren; his first wife Jean Mason of Tracyton; two sons, Scott of Bremerton and Tim of Poulsbo; two daughters, Patty Freeman of Lake Stevens and Jody Hanson of Tracyton; a brother, Daniel of Bremerton; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held in Bremerton.
Lloyd Trail
Lloyd G. Trail, 70, of Port Orchard, died Dec. 21, 2000, at Port Orchard Care Center.
He was born June 30, 1930, in Atwood, Kan.
On June 22, 1953, he married
Lucille Knaak in Raccone, N.M.
Mr. Trail served in the Army from 1946 to 1947.
He was a miner for the Manhattan Project and a painter at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, passing his apprenticeship in 1966.
Mr. Trail was member of the Kitsap Aquarium Society from 1968 to 1980.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Larry Trail of Port Orchard; and a sister, Sally Swanson of Port Orchard.
There will be no services.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist at Rill Chapel.
Clyde Abelein
Clyde W. Abelein, 78, died of cancer Dec. 21, 2000, at his home.
He was born Feb. 21, 1922, in Sidney, Mont., to James A. And Bessie B. (McBride) Abelein.
He graduated from Sidney High School in 1940.
On Oct. 10, 1942, he married
Margie M. Meleski in Bremerton.
Mr. Abelein was a corporal in the Air Force during World War II.
He was a sheet metal worker, planner and estimator at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 32 years, retiring in 1974.
He was an avid outdoorsman and a member of Round Squares Square Dance Club of Gorst.
In addition to his wife of the family home, survivors include a daughter Joanne Bircumshaw of Tacoma; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by son, Charles in 1975.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Rill Chapel.
A celebration of his life is pending.
Graveside service and interment will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Lane cemetery.

Pearl Hill-Sloan
Pearl C. Hill-Sloan, 91, died Dec. 22, 2000, at Crista Shores in Silverdale.
She was born April 14, 1909, at Helmer, Idaho, to Louis and Clara (Liner) Campeau.
In 1933, she married
Horace Hill, who preceded her in death in 1971. In the 1970s, she married
George Sloan, who died in 1988.
Mrs. Hill-Sloan worked for the Kitsap Lake Water District for many years.
She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge women's bowling league and also enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Quisenberry of Seabeck; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sons, Darrell and Gary.
Visitation will be 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Interment will be at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Margaret Sprout
Margaret Allene Sprout, 82, of Seabeck died Dec. 21, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born March 8, 1918, in Bremerton to Arthur and Edith (Maxwell) Fiske.
She graduated from Langley High School on Whidbey Island in 1936 and attended Everett General Hospital Nursing School.
On Feb. 15, 1942, she married
Harold W. Sprout at Clinton on Whidbey Island.
He preceded her in death in 1995.
Mrs. Sprout was a registered nurse at Harrison Hospital for many years, retiring in 1976.
She enjoyed both gardening and sewing.
Survivors include three sons, Melvin and Orin of Bremerton and Hugh of Seabeck; five daughters Margaret Topartzer of Palmdale, Calif., Lorraine Dressel of Silverdale, Donella Campbell of Richmond, B.C., Rebecca Harker of Anacortes and Beverly Webster of Bremerton; a sister Kathryn Lauth of Colville; a brother Eugene Fiske of Allyn; 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Lincoln Avenue Bible Church with cremation at Cherry Grove Crematory with Inurnment at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Benjamin Strehlow
Dr. Benjamin Theodore Strehlow, 84, of Bremerton, died Dec. 20, 2000, at Rainier Vista Care Center.
He was born May 18, 1916, in Menomonie, Wis., to Charles and Emma (Wolf) Strehlow. He graduated from Menomonie High School in 1934, Milwaukee State Teachers College in 1937, and Marquette University in 1952.
He served in the Army during World War II.
He married
Iris Nelson on May 8, 1954, in Seattle.
He taught school for three years prior to the war. Following the war he attended medical school at Marquette University and began his internship at Swedish Hospital in Seattle. He then joined the Bremerton Clinic where he worked in internal medicine and as a family practitioner retiring the first time in 1983, he continued to work at several nursing homes, finally retiring in 1989.
He was on the Board of the Bremerton Symphony, King County Medical Society, and Kitsap Physicians Service and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.
He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Charles of Vancouver, Wash., David of Menlo Park, Calif., and Jon of Spokane; a daughter, Nancy Karr of Sumner; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will take place at 2 p.m. at Forest Lawn cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church.
