Helen Lightfoot
Helen Jane Lightfoot, 91, of Poulsbo died Oct. 30, 2000, at Martha and Mary Health Care Center.
She was born Aug. 2, 1909, in Ogden, Utah, to Harry and Gladys (Holbrook) Berryman. She graduated in 1926 from Butte High School in Montana.
She married
William Lightfoot on Jan. 3, 1926, in Butte. He preceded her in death in 1979.
Mrs. Lightfoot was a bookkeeper for Alaskan Copper and Brass for 33 years.
She was a member of the AHMIES (Lady Shriners) and the Eastern Star.
Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Stroud of Poulsbo and Shirley Greene of Surprise, Ariz.; a brother, Earl Berryman of Granite Falls; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Berryman.
A graveside service is planned for 1 p.m. Friday at Floral Hills Memorial Park in Lynnwood. Arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.

George Payne
George Earl Payne, 70, of Port Orchard died Oct. 27, 2000, at Tacoma General Hospital.
He was born March 26, 1930, in Port Angeles to George J. and Beulah F. (McClure) Payne. He graduated from Bremerton High School in 1948 and from Olympic College.
He married
Virginia May Reid on April 2, 1950, in Bremerton.
Mr. Payne served in the Air Force from 1951 to 1955, achieving the rank of airman 1st class.
He worked at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard Commissary for 26 years and owned Foxy's Char Broiler for 30 years, retiring in 1990.
Mr. Payne was a member of the Bremerton Athletic Roundtable. He enjoyed horses.
He is survived by his wife; a son, George N. of Auburn; three daughters, Dana Erickson of Sequim, Candace Richardson of Bremerton and Lori Giese of Port Orchard; a brother, Sidney of Bremerton; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A funeral service is planned for 1 p.m. Friday at Lewis Funeral Chapel, followed by a reception. Interment
will take place at Forest Lawn cemetery.

Mark Schurman
Mark D. Schurman, 35, of Gig Harbor, died from injuries from an automobile accident Oct. 29, 2000, at Tacoma General Hospital.
He was born Aug. 26, 1965, in Great Falls, Mont., to David L. and Vicki L. (Painter) Schurman. He graduated from Olympic High School in 1983 and from ITT Technical College.
Mr. Schurman served in the Army.
He later worked in computer maintenance and enjoyed computers and reading.
Survivors include his companion, Crystal Howard of Gig Harbor; his parents of Tokyo; two sons, Chad Schurman and Max Howard, both of Gig Harbor; a sister, Linda Schurman of Kailua Kona, Hawaii; a brother, Glen of Bremerton; and a grandmother, Phoebe Schurman of Great Falls, Mont.
A gathering of family and friends will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday at 7910 University Point Circle in Bremerton. Cremation will take place at Cherry Grove Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

George Kaiyala
George G. Kaiyala, 88, of Bremerton died of natural causes Oct. 28, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Dec. 3, 1911, in Butte, Mont., to Jacob and Susanna (Heikkila) Kaiyala. He graduated from Weatherwax High School in Aberdeen in 1931.
Mr. Kaiyala worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for more than 31 years, retiring in 1966.
He was a member of the Sons of Norway and the Bremerton Health and Racquet Club.
Survivors include his companion, Florence "Polly" Welch of Tracyton; two daughters, Sandra Seymour of Port Orchard and Marie Hoover of Arizona; two brothers, Garnet of Seattle and Ed of Aberdeen; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1976; a daughter, Lois Sherfick; five brothers, Walt, Hugo, Arvo, Omar and Jack; and two sisters, Emily Atzel and Esther Anderson.
A celebration of his life is planned for 2 p.m. Monday at Sons of Norway in Bremerton. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Betty Parmley Honodel
Former Bremerton resident Betty Parmley Honodel, 79, of Spokane died Oct. 28, 2000, in Spokane.
She was born Dec. 17, 1920, in Bremerton to Cecil O. and Dagmar (Irving) Parmley. She graduated from Bremerton High School in 1939, and in 1940 from business school in Bremerton.
She married
Robert C. Honodel on June 25, 1942, in Bremerton. They divorced in 1970.
She enjoyed her family and cherished her collie dogs. She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
Her survivors include a son, Scott of Spokane; a daughter, Suzanne Radmaker of Spokane; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Rob, and two brothers, James and Guy Parmley.
A memorial service is planned for 4 p.m. Thursday at Opportunity Christian Church, 708 N. Pines Road in Spokane.

John Ramm
John B. Ramm, 95, of Bremerton died of natural causes Oct. 28, 2000, in Bremerton.
He was born Feb. 11, 1905, in Lansing, Ohio, to William and Angelina (Croppi) Ramm. He graduated in 1923 from West Seattle High School and in 1927 from the University of Washington.
He married
Emmagrace Bliss on June 23, 1932, in Seattle.
Mr. Ramm was a naval engineer and architect at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 34 years, retiring in 1968.
He enjoyed gardening, particularly dahlias and vegetables. He was a member of Lincoln Avenue Bible Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robert of Bremerton and John of Marysville; three daughters, Virginia Grace Ramm of Woodinville, Kathryn Joan Ramm of Seattle and Barbara Jean Jayne of Redmond; 19 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. A committal service is planned for noon Saturday at Miller-Woodlawn, followed by a
1 p.m. memorial service at Lincoln Avenue Bible Church. Interment
will be at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Morley Barnard
Morley O. Barnard, 90, of Allyn died of heart failure Oct. 29, 2000, at his home.
He was born Oct. 15, 1910, in Vancouver, B.C., to Frank and Beulah (McLean) Barnard. He attended Stadium High School in Tacoma for three years.
He married
Margaret Hollingsworth on Dec. 18, 1930, in Olympia.
Mr. Barnard enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Lakeland Village Golf Course and Community Club. He also was a member of St. Hugh Episcopal Church in Allyn.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Patrick of Lake Oswego, Ore.; a daughter, Diana Gray of Portland, Ore.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Nov. 11 at St. Hugh Episcopal Church. Interment
will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of McComb Funeral Home in Shelton.

Sigrid Robé
Sigrid Robé, 56, of Poulsbo died of heart failure Oct. 29, 2000, at Madigan Medical Center at Fort Lewis.
She was born Jan. 6, 1944, in Chicago, to Martin and Harriet (Wagner) Knowles. She graduated in 1962 from high school in Chicago.
She married
Charles Edward Robé on Aug. 8, 1982, in Chicago.
Mrs. Robé had worked for the Navy Child Care Center for two years.
She enjoyed flower gardening and bird watching.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Raemonn and Edward, both of Poulsbo and Charles A. of Wheeling, Mo.; three daughters, Vicki L. Perkins of Tampa Bay, Fla., Rhonda R. Grossnickle of Kingston and Kathrina M. Murdoch of San Antonio, Texas; a twin sister, Ingrid Thompson of Charlotte, N.C.; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel. A funeral service is planned for 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove.
Ruth Cloherty
Ruth A. Cloherty, 85, of Bremerton died of a stroke Oct. 26, 2000, at Northwoods Lodge in Silverdale.
She was born June 12, 1915, in Bremerton to Axel and Marie Crane. She graduated from Bremerton High School in 1936.
She married
William Cloherty in Bremerton in 1951. He preceded her in death in 1981.
Mrs. Cloherty was a housewife. She was a member of the Lutheran church, Bremerton Senior Singles and the Sons of Norway.
She is survived by her companion, Maureen Ardizzone of Silverdale. She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Olga Crane and Alice Madden.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Nov. 9 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Bremerton.

Catherine Gagne
Catherine Gagne, 77, of Poulsbo died Oct. 26, 2000, at her home.
She was born Dec. 15, 1922, in Cleethorpes, England, to John and Violet (Audas) Bolan. She attended high school in England.
Mrs. Gagne served in the British Royal Air Force for four years, receiving a World War II Victory Medal.
She married
Francis L. Gagne on Jan. 15, 1945, in Colchester, England. He preceded her in death in 1995.
She was a retail manager at Kountry Korner in Kingston, retiring in 1985.
Mrs. Gagne enjoyed gardening and knitting.
She is survived by three sons, Steven of Keyport, Thomas of Poulsbo and James of Seattle; a daughter, Ann Meyers of Lyle, Wash.; a brother, Eric Bolan of Grimsby, England; two sisters, Betty Large and Gladys Gibbons, both of Cleethorpes; and three grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan, in 1952; and a sister, May Bramwell.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel. Cremation will take place at Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove.
Sandra Fritz
Sandra Elizabeth Fritz, 51, of Silverdale died of breast cancer Oct. 29, 2000, at her home.
She was born May 10, 1949, in Chillicothe, Mo., to Benjamin Franklin and Margaret (Faigle) Duke. She graduated in 1967 from East High School in Duluth, Minn., and in 1971 from the University of Minnesota.
She married
Leland Kenneth Fritz on Sept. 11, 1971, in Duluth.
Mrs. Fritz was a business administrator and owner for 12 years.
She was a member of the Breast Cancer Support Group and the Salvation Army. She enjoyed shopping.
Survivors include her husband; her father of Bremerton; two sons, Nathan of Seattle and Bryan of Silverdale; a daughter, Katie of Silverdale; and two brothers, Ronald Duke of Isanti, Minn., and David Duke of Waianae, Hawaii.
