Regina Hurley
Regina Anne Hurley, 76, of Bremerton died Oct. 17, 2000, at her home.
She was born July 25, 1924, in Chicago to Michael and Stephanie (Karaban) Perwen. She graduated from Tuley High School in Chicago in 1942. She later attended Northwestern College and beauty college, both in Chicago.
She married
Jesse Hurley on Dec. 17, 1956, in Waukegan, Ill. He preceded her in death in 1999.
Mrs. Hurley was a hair dresser. She enjoyed knitting and bowling. She was a member of the Roman Catholic Church.
She is survived by a sister, Pauline Cox of Anaheim, Calif.
Visitation is scheduled for noon to 6 p.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, also at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Inurnment will take place at Ascension cemetery in Libertyville, Ill.
Monja Waldron
Former Bremerton resident Monja Elizabeth (Morgan) Waldron, 79, of Bellevue died of natural causes Oct. 14, 2000, at her home.
She was born Sept. 29, 1921, in Irwin, Iowa, to Joseph H. and Bess (Paden) Morgan.
Her survivors include two sons, Bruce of Port Orchard and Brian of Renton; two daughters, Victoria (Waldron) Easterling of Bellevue and Rebecca Waldron of Kirkland; a brother, Joseph Morgan of Port Orchard; a sister, Bonnie Hanson of Kent; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Church in Bellevue. Arrangements are under the direction of Green Funeral Home in Bellevue.
Henry Clark
Henry Loren Clark, 93, of Bremerton died Oct. 14, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Dec. 9, 1906, in Salem, N.Y., to Harry and Sarah (Russell) Clark.
He married
Anna Royce McConnell on June 3, 1933, in Mason City, Iowa.
Mr. Clark was a railroad telegrapher in Minnesota, Iowa and California for more than 40 years. He later owned a barber shop in El Cajon, Calif., retiring in 1971.
He enjoyed oil painting and gardening.
Survivors include his wife; a son, William of San Diego; a daughter, Jacquelyn Allen of Belfair; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life is planned for 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Dick Wright
Richard B. "Dick" Wright, 81, of Port Orchard died of natural causes Oct. 14, 2000, in Bremerton.
He was born June 27, 1919, in Everett to Richard and Mary A.L. (Homan) Wright.
He served in the Army from 1941 to 1945, achieving the rank of corporal. He received a Bronze Medal and an Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal.
Mr. Wright was a machinist at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 29 years, retiring in 1974.
He married
Gladys L. Carlson on Aug. 27, 1996, in Port Orchard.
He enjoyed woodcarving and reading.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Richard W. of Seattle; a daughter, Kathleen Graves of Melbourne, Australia; three sisters, Anne Hammer of Seattle, Louise Henkle of Tacoma and Ellen Pfeifer of St. Helens, Ore.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie A. (Walsh) Wright, in 1996.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday at Colby United Methodist Church in Port Orchard. Interment
will take place at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Tahoma National cemetery in Kent.
Dorothy O'Brien
Former Bremerton resident Dorothy Buher O'Brien, 72, of Winlock died of lung cancer Oct. 13, 2000, at her home.
She was born June 13, 1928, in Cushman to Burton and Anne (Babik) Buher. She graduated from Bremerton High School.
She married
Eugene O'Brien on Nov. 8, 1946, in Bremerton.
She worked at O'Brien Charter Services in Ketchikan, Alaska, for 10 years, retiring in 1986.
Mrs. O'Brien enjoyed gardening and fishing. She was a member of the Catholic church.
She is survived by her husband; three sons, Dennis of Ketchikan, Dale of Salem, Ore., and Daniel of St. Louis, Mo.; a brother, Harold Buher of Eagle River, Alaska; two sisters, Helen Asher of Fossil, Ore., and Patricia Crosby of Bremerton; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Martin, Dave and Don Buher; and a sister, Elizabeth Webb.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Church in Winlock.

Dorene Willburn
Dorene Margaret Willburn, 82, of Bremerton died of Alzheimer's disease Oct. 15, 2000, at her home.
She was born Oct. 13, 1918, in Bellingham to Frederick H. Luke and Ethel Z. (Allen) Luke. She graduated from high school in Los Angeles in 1936.
She married
Delwin Victor Willburn on Dec. 21, 1935, in Los Angeles. He preceded her in death in 1984.
She was a homemaker, later becoming an office worker for 20 years. She retired in 1978.
Mrs. Willburn enjoyed needlework and cooking. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Survivors include three sons, Gerry of Cypress, Calif., Frederick of Bremerton and Capt. Alan of Provo, Utah; two daughters, Marilyn Johnson of Silverdale and Nancy Morgan of Bremerton; 26 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernon and Lyle Luke; and by three great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled for 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home and at noon Thursday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center on Nels Nelson Road in Silverdale. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Thursday at the stake center. Interment
will be at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Mary Thompson
Mary Louise Thompson, 73, of Kingston died Oct. 13, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Dec. 1, 1926, in Minneapolis to Jesse and Margaret (Mosher) Roberts. She graduated from Marshall High School in Minneapolis in 1944.
Mrs. Thompson was an accounting clerk for the AM Fruit and Produce Company in Minnesota.
She enjoyed gardening and following the Mariners.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary O'Conner of Kingston; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey W. Thompson.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation will take place at Cherry Grove Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove.
Frances Garrigues
Frances H. Garrigues, 85, of Bainbridge Island died Oct. 11, 2000, at Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle.
She was born Feb. 2, 1915, in Boston to Henry and Sarah (Esdale) Holmes. She graduated from St. Timothy's High School in 1933, and attended art school in the Boston area.
She married
Henry Garrigues on Feb. 7, 1938, in Massachusetts.
Mrs. Garrigues worked at the Boston Herald Newspaper as a fashion reporter for many years.
She was a member of the Elizabeth Fischer Guild for the Children's Orthopedic Hospital in Seattle.
Survivors include her husband of Bainbridge Island; a son, Jacques of Bainbridge Island; three daughters, Renee Garrigues-Goodwin of Seattle, Nicole G. Pung of Maui, Hawaii, and Michele G. Macbeth of Bothell; two brothers, Gordon Holmes of Dedham, Mass., and Henry H. Holmes of Wilton, Conn.; and six grandchildren.
A private family service will be held at a later date. Cremation will take place at Cherry Grove Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Corky Boyles
Former Port Orchard and Bremerton resident Carolyn "Corky" Boyles, 68, of Roseville, Calif., died of cancer Oct. 13, 2000, in Roseville.
She was born June 8, 1932, in Vallejo, Calif., to Clarence and Ione (Barnes) Krummes.
Mrs. Boyles was a cocktail waitress for 10 years and then worked for the federal government at Mare Island Naval Shipyard for 14 years, retiring in 1994.
She was a member of Moose Lodge 486 in Vallejo.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph Ryan of Olalla and Michael Ryan of Bremerton; a daughter, Gina Carroll of Foresthill, Calif.; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Stephens.
A graveside service is planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Skyview Memorial Lawn in Vallejo.

Max Penningroth
Max Penningroth, 88, of Bremerton died of a lengthy illness Oct. 13, 2000, in Tacoma.
He was born Nov. 28, 1911, in Hartley, Iowa, to August and Myrtle (Pheteplace) Penningroth. He graduated from Charter Oak High School in Iowa in 1929.
He married
Sadie Baker on April 16, 1934, in Olivet, Iowa. She preceded him in death in 1998.
Mr. Penningroth was an electrician at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for more than 35 years.
He was a member First Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge in Bremerton.
Survivors include a son, Gerald of Renton; a daughter, Janet Bodner of Lakewood; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Schnede, in 1950.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 to 10:30 a.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 11 a.m. at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Paul Bidlencik
Paul A. Bidlencik, 59, of Poulsbo died Oct. 14, 2000, at his home.
A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Olaf's Church in Poulsbo. A potluck gathering will follow at the family home.
Dorothy English
Dorothy (Phyllis) English, 83, of Manchester died Sept. 25, 2000, at Ridgemont Terrace in Port Orchard of complications from a heart attack.
She was born July 22, 1917, in Seattle to Elvira (Laub) and Malcolm D. Kennedy and was raised and educated there.
She was a graduate of Broadway High School and the University of Washington.
On Aug. 19, 1939, she married
Edward M. English in Seattle.
Mrs. English had been owner/director of the Phyllis Kennedy School of Dance and also excelled in sewing and textiles.
She was a member of the Roman Catholic faith.
Survivors include her husband at the family home; son Donald of Gig Harbor; daughter Nancy of Lynnwood; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Oct 23 at St. Patrick's Church, 2702 Broadway East in Seattle.
Burial will be at Calvary cemetery in Seattle.
