Louise Hagener
Former Silverdale resident Louise Hagener, 96, of Oceanside, Calif., died Oct. 9, 2000, at her daughter's home in Oceanside.
She was born Aug. 11, 1904, in Aneta, N.D., to Lars and Sarah (Ferguson) Holland.
She married
Oliver Hagener of Silverdale in 1927. He preceded her in death in 1979.
She began working for the Central Kitsap School District in the 1950s, retiring in 1969 as the head cook at Silverdale Elementary School.
She enjoyed traveling and visiting friends and family.
Survivors include her twin daughters, Lila Riddle of Bremerton and Lillian Hagener of Oceanside; a sister, Cecil Leo of Issaquah; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by twin sons, Morton and Wilfred.
Visitation is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday also at Lewis Funeral Chapel, with interment following at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Bill Dederer
J. William "Bill" Dederer, 65, of South Point on Hood Canal died Oct. 8, 2000, in Seattle.
He was born Oct. 21, 1934, in Everett to Jack and Bertha Dederer. He graduated from Ballard High School in 1953.
He was a longtime employee of the Seattle Fur Exchange, retiring as vice president.
Mr. Dederer enjoyed golf and fishing.
His survivors include his wife, Eline; two sons, Jim of Poulsbo and Don of Seattle; and six grandchildren.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bleitz Funeral Home in Seattle.

Ruth Buckendorf
Ruth F. Buckendorf, 72, of Port Orchard died of natural causes Oct. 10, 2000.
She was born Nov. 30, 1927, in Omaha, Neb., to Walter and Leola (Moore) Rushing.
She married
Arnold E. Buckendorf on July 6, 1945, in Vancouver, Wash. He preceded her in death in 1981.
She was a nurse's aide in home health-care for 22 years, retiring in 1964.
She enjoyed fishing and her cats.
Survivors include three daughters, Audrey Watson of Fraser Lake, British Columbia, Canada, Phyllis Brown of Tahuya, and Barbara Stock of Bellingham; a sister, Phyllis Martin of Belfair; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Rushing, and a daughter, Patty Sewell.
A graveside service is planned for 3 p.m. today at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard, followed by a gathering at Bethel Grange on Bethel Road in Port Orchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Vivian-Mae Armstrong
Vivian-Mae Armstrong, 83, of South Colby died of leukemia Oct. 7, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Aug. 10, 1917, in Astoria, Ore., to Clinton and Alverta (Stiger) Hennings. She graduated from high school in Portland, Ore.
She married
William Armstrong on June 7, 1949, in Seattle.
She was a cook at the Washington Veterans Home in Retsil, retiring in 1974.
She was a volunteer with South Kitsap Helpline and a member of the Military Order of the Cooties Auxiliary. She also was a member of First Methodist Church in South Colby.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Jack of South Colby; two daughters, Penny Baker of Port Orchard and Sharon Archibald of North Hollywood, Calif.; a brother, Edward Stiger of Danville, Calif.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Percy Weyer
Percy A. Weyer, 90, of Port Orchard died of natural causes Oct. 10, 2000, in Port Orchard.
He was born Sept. 9, 1910, in Toppenish to William and Mildred (Hironimous) Weyer.
He married
Dessima Sutton on Dec. 18, 1933, in LaGrande, Ore.
Mr. Weyer was a sheet metal worker in Shop 17 at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 20 years, retiring in 1970.
He enjoyed horses and farming.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Norman of Naples, Idaho, Marvin of Grandview, Jack of Goldendale and Don of Grand Coulee; two daughters, Shirley Ross and Nancy Brotzel, both of Port Orchard; 22 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
At his request, no services are scheduled. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
Warren Schwendemann
Warren Dean Schwendemann, 76, of Bremerton died Oct. 10, 2000, at his home.
He was born Jan. 4, 1924, in Homestead, Okla., to John and Carolyn (Denny) Schwendemann. He graduated from Homestead High School in 1942.
Mr. Schwendemann served in the Army during World War II. He received the Purple Heart and the Silver Star for bravery.
He married
Pauline Ivy Long on Nov. 23, 1945, in Seattle. She preceded him in death in 1982.
He married
Elizabeth Ann "Bettie" (Bauman) Hopkins on April 18, 1991, in Lake Tahoe, Nev.
Mr. Schwendemann worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring as a supervisor welder in 1982. He also worked as a welder instructor at Olympic College for 10 years.
He was a member of the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks 1181 and a board member of the Bremerton Trap and Skeet Club.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Denis of Seattle and Jeff of Bremerton; two daughters, Lisa Collinsworth and Deanne Hull, both of Bremerton; four stepdaughters, Bonnie Maves and Betty Jo Hamrick, both of Bremerton, Donna Shanaman of Potlatch, Idaho, and Shyla Hale of Marysville; three sisters, Ruth Yoshpa of Torrance, Calif., Dorothy Southern of Palm Springs, Calif., and Catherine Schinn of O'Keene, Okla.; a brother, Glenn of Torrance; 5 grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by a brother, John, of Oregon and a sister, Helen Legate, of Oklahoma.
A funeral service is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at Lewis Funeral Chapel, with entombment at Hillcrest Mausoleum in Forest Lawn cemetery.

Colleen Morgan
Colleen Beverly Morgan, 45, of Poulsbo died as a result of an automobile accident Oct. 7, 2000, in Kingston.
She was born Jan. 17, 1955, in Seattle to Edward Carl and Beverly Lois (Clark) Moff. She attended North Kitsap High School.
She owned Mighty Clean House cleaning service for more than 20 years.
She grew sunflowers and loved hosting picnics.
Survivors include her mother, Beverly Lois Moff of Suquamish; two sons, Jeremy Moff of Poulsbo and Sam Morgan of Cherry Point, N.C.; a daughter, Tara Morgan of Port Ludlow; four sisters, Judy Goenett of Haines, Alaska, Carla Lukinich of Wrangell, Alaska, and Mary Saurdiff and Sue Henry, both of Poulsbo; a brother, Steven Moff of Arlington; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service and potluck picnic is planned for 1 p.m. Oct. 21 at the family home. Arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel, with cremation at Cherry Grove Memorial Park.

Nola Henderson
Magnolia "Nola" Henderson, 87, of Silverdale died Oct. 7, 2000, at Bremerton Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Nov. 11, 1912, in Habersham, Tenn., to Robert and Dovie Housley.
She married
Marvin T. Henderson. He preceded her in death in 1987.
Survivors include a son, Donald of Bremerton; a daughter, Sharon Ellis of Brookline, Mass.; a sister, Jean Cotman of Leavenworth; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Douglas, a sister, Beatrice Herald, and an infant sister, Naomi.
A funeral service will be
1 p.m. Thursday at Ward's Funeral Home in Leavenworth.
Byron Willey
Byron Barr Willey, 63, of Bremerton died of heart problems Sept. 28, 2000, at his home.
He was born Aug. 24, 1937, in Seattle, to James and Penelope (Barr) Willey.
He was a member of Apostolic Life Tabernacle in Bremerton.
Survivors include three brothers, James of Port Orchard, Lawrence "Larry" of LaPine, Ore., and Charles of Everett; and two sisters, Mabel Will of Olympia and Helen Pedrick of Baldwin City, Kan.

Roy Parsons
Roy R. Parsons, 84, of Belfair died of a heart attack Oct. 7, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Sept. 25, 1916, in Salem, Ore., to George and Melinda Parsons.
He married
Joan Jandrall on July 23, 1939, in Vancouver, Wash. She preceded him in death in 1998.
He served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946, achieving the rank of cook 1st Class. He later was a meat cutter.
He enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include three daughters, Karen Barrett of Redmond, Susan Gwynn of Oregon City, Ore., and Sheri Ellison of Belfair; a brother, Robert of Salem; two sisters, Gertrude Steen and Francis Forrest, both of Tacoma; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Delbert and Ralph.
A service will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of Tuell-McKee of Bremerton.
Harry Dawson
Harry C. Dawson, 65, of Port Orchard died Oct. 6, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Jan. 5, 1935, in Long Beach, Calif., to Harry C. and Mildred A. (Weaver) Dawson. He attended Lincoln High School in Tacoma.
Mr. Dawson served in the Navy during the Korean and Vietnam wars, retiring in 1973. He then worked as an electronic technician.
He enjoyed lapidary work and radio-controlled model airplanes.
His survivors include a sister, Rosemarie Dawson Ford of Torrence, Calif.; and a brother, Donald of Belfair.
At his request, there will be no service.
