Beth Collins
Former Bremerton resident Beth Allene Collins, 65, of Surprise, Ariz., died of a heart attack Oct. 8, 2000, in Surprise.
She was born March 31, 1935, in Dyersville, Iowa. She was a graduate of Iowa State Teachers College.
She was a member of a travel club, having traveled to more than 50 countries and 49 states. She was a member of Cresco Methodist Church in Cresco, Iowa.
Survivors include her husband, Alfred "Bud" Collins; two daughters, Debbie Collins and Dianne Hanson, both of Bremerton; and a sister, Kay Herold of Cresco.
Visitation will be from
6 to 8 p.m. today at Camino del Sol Funeral Home,
13738 Camino del Sol, Sun City West, Ariz. A funeral service is planned for
10 a.m. Thursday also at Camino del Sol Funeral Home.

Janie Krein
Janie Marie Krein, 60, of Bremerton died of cancer Oct. 9, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Aug. 9, 1940, in Van Nuys, Calif., to Samuel and Agnes (Jordan) Taylor. She graduated from Central Kitsap High School in 1958, later attending Olympic College and City University.
She married
James Krein on Sept. 13, 1971, in Bremerton.
Mrs. Krein worked three years for Kitsap County and 15 years with Alliant Techsystems.
She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. She was a member of Peninsula Bible Fellowship.
Survivors include her husband; her parents, Samuel and Agnes Taylor of Bremerton; three sons, Bill and Michael, both of Bremerton, and Kevin of Seattle; a daughter, Brenda Vilaria of Everett; a sister, Patricia Bilden of Bremerton; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by twin boys, Patrick and Samuel.
Visitation is scheduled for noon to 5 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, followed by inurnment, both also at Miller-Woodlawn.

Jeff McPhee
Jeffrey M. "Jeff" McPhee, 41, of Port Orchard died of natural causes Oct. 7, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born July 28, 1959, in Spokane to Melvin R. and Dorothy L. (Jackman) McPhee. He graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1977.
He married
Linda Marie Price on Oct. 6, 1979, in Bremerton.
Mr. McPhee had been service manager for Haselwood Buick Pontiac GMC for 13 years.
He enjoyed fishing and watching his sons play soccer.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, David Michael and Joshua James, both of Port Orchard; two brothers, Russell of Port Orchard and Thomas of Spokane; and a sister, Robyn (McPhee) Nelson of Port Orchard.
Visitation is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A funeral service follows at 11 a.m. Friday also at Rill Chapel, with interment at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.

John Vanderhalf
John Henry Vanderhalf, 73, of Kingston died Oct. 6, 2000, at his home.
He was born Oct. 8, 1926, in Clarks, Neb., to Jacobus and Antonia Willemina (Broodman) Vanderhalf.
He married
Ruth Christine Ulricksen on
Oct. 9, 1948, in Kingston. She preceded him in death.
Mr. Vanderhalf served in the Navy during World War II. He later was a torpedo inspector at the Keyport Torpedo Station for 32 years, retiring in 1974.
He enjoyed his family and the outdoors.
Survivors include his companion, Pat Rizzuto of Edmonds; two sons, John of Poulsbo and James "Jimmy John" of Hansville; four daughters, Penny Dixon of Silverdale, Debbie Tuson of Poulsbo, Toni Culbertson of Kingston and Bonnie Gisselberg of Longview; a brother, Harry "Jim" of Poulsbo; two sisters, Tona Eliason of Poulsbo and Marion Dennis of Kingston; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life potluck will be held at the home of his sister, Marion Dennis, in Kingston at 1 p.m. Oct. 21. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Nola Henderson
Magnolia "Nola" Henderson, 87, of Silverdale died Oct. 7, 2000, at Bremerton Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Nov. 11, 1912, in Habersham, Tenn., to Robert and Dovie Housley.
Survivors include a son, Donald of Bremerton; a daughter, Sharon Ellis of Brookline, Mass.; a sister, Jean Cotman of Leavenworth; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Douglas, a sister, Beatrice Herald, and an infant sister, Naomi.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Ward's Funeral Home in Leavenworth.
Earl Lagergren
Earl E. Lagergren, 88, of Port Orchard died Oct. 6, 2000, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
He was born July 27, 1912, in Treadwell, Alaska, to Andrew and Mollie (Vidlund) Lagergren. He graduated from Juneau High School in Juneau, Alaska, in 1930, and from the University of Washington in Seattle in 1940.
He married
Virginia Berg on Aug. 21, 1941, in Seattle.
Mr. Lagergren was a marine engineer at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 33 years, retiring in 1973.
He was a member of the Port Orchard Yacht Club and the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers. He also was a member of Colby United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Eric of Port Orchard, Ed of Porter and Arne of Seattle; a daughter, Jane Lagergren Kenney of Seattle; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Milton.
Visitation is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel, followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. Interment
will be at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.

Boots Sarver
Harold "Boots" Sarver, 85, of Bremerton died Oct. 8, 2000, at Orchard Pointe in Port Orchard.
He was born Dec. 14, 1914, in Colfax to Joseph and Hazel (Cornelius) Sarver. He graduated from Colfax High School in 1932.
He married
Doris Janze on July 28, 1940, in Grangeville, Idaho.
Mr. Sarver worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 33 years, retiring as a public works foreman in 1980.
He had served as a Boy Scout master and enjoyed bowling.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bill of Federal Way and Brad of Pacific; a daughter, Jan Dailey of Port Orchard; three brothers, Stan of Albuquerque, N.M., Lawrence of Colfax and Paul of Spokane; a sister, Ruth Hergert of Spokane; and six grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Lane cemetery in Port Orchard.

Lloyd Iddings
Lloyd E. Iddings, 71, of Hood Canal died Oct. 4, 2000, at his home.
He was born Oct. 6, 1928, in Renton to Earl and Viola (Wilson) Iddings.
He married
Marlene Olson on May 6, 1952, in Tacoma.
Mr. Iddings owned Iddings Farm Service in Kent from 1952 until his retirement in 1982.
He was a member of a barbershop chorus and enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Earl of Maple Valley; two daughters, Linda Slates of Vashon Island and Renee Hanover of Yelm; a brother, Jim of Winthrop; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 24 at The Inn At Gig Harbor. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Helena King
Helena Fredericka Wilhelmina (Rae) King, 92, of Port Orchard died Oct. 5, 2000, in Shelton.
She was born April 16, 1908, in New Ulm, Minn., to Albert F. and Mathilda (Fiss) Bartz. She graduated from high school in Dilworth, Minn., in 1926.
She married
Russell Rae on July 18, 1926, in Dilworth. He preceded her in death in 1958.
She married
William King in 1968. He preceded her in death in 1980.
Mrs. King was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of King of Glory Lutheran Church in Purdy.
Survivors include three sons, John Rae of Dufur, Ore., Walter Rae of Shelton and David Rae of Spokane; 24 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a son, Gene Rae, and a daughter, June Baughn.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at King of Glory Lutheran Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
Sherry Johnson
Sherry Jean Johnson, 64, a resident of the south shore of Hood Canal in Belfair died of cancer Oct. 1, 2000, at Northwoods Lodge in Silverdale.
She was born Feb. 15, 1936, in Walhala, N.D., to Carl and Verna (Braget) Braaten. She graduated from Cinderella Beauty School in Bremerton.
She married
David L. Johnson on Sept. 17, 1955, in Bremerton.
She was a beautician and a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing and fishing.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Bryan of San Clemente, Calif., and Michael of Belfair; two daughters, Lynda Curran of Graham and Michele Cappalia of Belfair; two brothers, Burl Braaten of Gig Harbor and Lonny Braaten of Bremerton; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Vickie (Johnson) White; two sisters, Diane Debus and Margie Braaten; and a grandson.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. today at First Christian Church in Port Orchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Shawn Macki
Shawn Michael Macki, 32, of Bremerton, died of AIDS Sept. 29, 2000, at his home.
He was born Nov. 5, 1967, in Richland. He attended Bremerton High School and Northwest Cosmetology School.
Mr. Macki worked for several hair salons in the Bremerton area.
He enjoyed watching the X-Files and the Sci-Fi channel on television.
Survivors include his parents, Carol and Jim Wooley of Bremerton; and three sisters, Kelly Macki O'Neil of Everett and Jamie and Erin Wooley, both of Bremerton.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church in Bremerton. Cremation will take place at Cherry Grove Memorial Park in Poulsbo. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
