Margaret Arthur
Margaret L. Arthur, 81, of Port Orchard died Aug. 4, 1998, at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
She was born Jan. 23, 1917, in Sparks, Nev., to Ernest Wanke and Nina (Hitzler) Wanke. She attended high school in Sparks, Nev., graduating in 1935.
In April 1944, she married
Richard Arthur in Seattle. He preceded her in death in 1960.
Mrs. Arthur made her living as a food service aide at the Washington Veterans Home in Retsil.
Survivors include two daughters, Helen Sadler of Port Orchard and Pauline Herrell of Silverdale; a brother, Irvin Wanke of Newport News, Va.; seven grandchildren, Gary Whitcomb, Daniel Whitcomb, Todd Sadler and Yvette Arthur, all of Port Orchard, Denise Gilman of Shelton, Sheri Cawley of West Easton, Pa., and Alicia Harrell of Silverdale; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Bill, in 1996.
A memorial service will be at noon Aug. 8 at First Christian Church of Port Orchard. Inurnment will be at Sunset Lane cemetery, Port Orchard.

Marian Cooper
Marian Alice Cooper, 74, of Bremerton died July 30, 1998, at Naval Hospital following a lengthy battle with lung cancer.
She was born April 28, 1924, in Dunn County, Wis., to Ralph Strand and Alice (Johnson) Strand. She graduated from high school in Boyceville, Wis., in 1941. She later attended business college.
On July 30, 1972, she married
Capt. Parker C. Cooper in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Mrs. Cooper worked for the Army Corps of Engineers during World War II. After the war she worked for Northwest Orient Airlines as a passenger sales agent until 1969. She then worked in the same capacity for Canadian Airlines until her retirement in 1983.
Survivors include her husband; two brothers, Robert of Iola, Wis., and James of Boyceville; and a sister, Minnie Polonec of Boyceville.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Aug. 8 at Naval Submarine Base at Bangor Chapel.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Dale Swanson
Dale Nels Swanson, 75, of Bremerton died Aug. 2, 1998, at Belmont Terrace Convalescent Center.
He was born July 20, 1923, in Rutland, N.D., to Nels Fritz Swanson and Ida (Walden) Swanson. He attended high school in Veblen, S.D., graduating in 1941.
On Aug. 30, 1947, he married
Mary Gasper.
Mr. Swanson served in the Air Force from 1943 to 1946. Following the war he served an apprenticeship at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. He retired as a painter in 1980 after 32 years of service.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Stephen of Bremerton; a daughter, Ute of Bremerton; two brothers, Charles of Fargo, N.D., and Dean of Parkers Prairie, Minn.; a sister, Nadene Wirmager of Peoria, Ariz.; and a granddaughter, Stephanie, of Bremerton.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Cremation and Inurnment will be at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
Joseph Amundsen
Joseph Amundsen, 79, died Aug. 3, 1998, at Crista Shores in Silverdale.
He was born June 20, 1919, in Seattle.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Ruby; two children, Marilynn Rumble of Raymond and Byron of Hanover Park, Ill.; and 14 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Aug. 5 in the Linder Room at Crista Shores, 1600 NW Crista Shores Lane, Silverdale.

Curtis Parker
Curtis Lee Parker, 87, of Bremerton died July 31, 1998, at his home.
He was born May 28, 1911, in Seattle to Curtis Parker and Ida (Prall) Parker. He attended Broadway High School in Seattle.
He married
Eva Mattson in Seattle in 1949. She preceded him in death in 1994.
Mr. Parker served in the Army from 1942 to 1945. He was in Company M with the 185th Infantry. During his service, he received an American Defense service ribbon, an Asiatic-Pacific Theater service ribbon, one Bronze Star good conduct medal, one service stripe and four overseas bars. He later made his living for many years as a delivery salesman for a laundry in Manette.
He was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist.
Survivors include a brother-in-law, William Mattson of Seattle, and a sister-in-law, Anna Hendrickson of Edmonds.
At Mr. Parker's request, there will be no service. Inurnment will be at Willamette National cemetery. Arrangements are by Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Madeline Rood
Madeline Lavinia Rood, 82, of Bremerton died July 30, 1998, in Bremerton.
She was born May 9, 1916, in Cass City, Mich. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include sons Gerald of Silverdale, Lawrence of Colville and Holt of Seattle; daughter Phyllis Buehler of Port Ludlow; a sister, Phyllis Carroll of Grand Junction, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, and her son, Ronald.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Aug. 5 at Miller-Woodlawn Chapel in Bremerton. Cremation is by Miller-Woodlawn.
Tina Gouldie
Tina Annette Gouldie, 54, of Bremerton died July 30, 1998.
She was born in California to Nina and Louis Preston, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, James of Bremerton; four sons, Jessy Depriest of Spokane, and Bobby, Jimmy and John Paul, all of Bremerton; two daughters, Betty Ann Depriest of Oceanside, Calif., and Christina of Bremerton; her brother, James Preston of Davenport; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A service will be at 11 a.m. Aug. 6 at Victory Chapel Church of God, Port Orchard.
Julius Mushinsky
Julius Ronald Mushinsky, 65, of Bremerton died July 30, 1998.
He was born May 13, 1933, to Lillian (O'Keefe) Mushinsky and Julius Mushinsky. He was raised in Garfield, N.J. He graduated from Pope Pious High School in Passaic, N.J., in 1951. He later attended Fairleigh Dickenson College in East Rutherford, N.J.
On Nov. 24, 1956, he married
Irene Charlock in Passaic.
Mr. Mushinsky served in the Army from 1953 to 1955. He worked for 30 years with U S West, retiring in 1995.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert of Bremerton; three daughters, Laura, Karen Dippolito and Janet Leach, all of Bremerton; two brothers, Donald of Mountain Lakes, N.J., and Albert of Framingham, Mass.; a sister, Carol Baron of Tavernier, Fla.; and six grandchildren, Michael, Greg, Alissa, Brianna, Kyler and Stephanie, all of Bremerton.
A private service will be conducted.
Arrangements are by Tuell-McKee Funeral Home, Bremerton.
Thomas Regan
Thomas M. Regan, 47, of Bremerton died Aug. 2, 1998.
He was born Feb. 21, 1951, in Seattle to Donald Regan and Lois (Auxler) Regan.
Mr. Regan served his baker's apprenticeship at age 16 while attending North Kitsap High School. He worked for Sluy's Bakery in Poulsbo from 1965 to 1970. He worked for the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard commissary warehouse from 1973 to 1974 and for Goodyear Tire from 1975 to 1985. Most recently, he worked for the Red Apple Market bakery from 1990 until his retirement in 1993.
Survivors include his mother; a son, Daniel of Seabeck; six brothers, Gerald of Tigard, Ore., Allan of Suquamish, Richard of Chimacum, Timothy of Kingston, and Jeffrey and Samuel, both of Poulsbo; and five sisters, Deborah Voyce and Rose Ann McCracken, both of Poulsbo, Kathleen Novick of Bremerton, Petronilla Dickerson of Port Orchard and Pamela of Kingston.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Aug. 5 at St. Olaf's Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 9:15 a.m. to 11 a.m. Aug. 6 with Mass immediately following at St. Olaf's Catholic Church. A graveside service will follow at Poulsbo City cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove Memorial Park.

Fern Brown
Fern D. Brown, 91, of Seattle died July 31, 1998, in Seattle.
She was born on July 16, 1907, in Davenport, Neb.
She was raised in Yuma, Colo.
Her husband, Warren Brown, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Howard Brown of Springfield, Ore.; daughters Lois Pulitano of Winston-Salem, N.C., Pauline Charles of Gold Bar, Doris Romkee and Beverly Rivera, both of Seattle, and Juanita Smith; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation at Haven of Rest Funeral Home in Gig Harbor will be at 1 p.m. Aug. 3. Graveside services will be Aug. 4 at 11 a.m., also at Haven of Rest.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
