Jerry Cole
Jerry C. Cole, 75, of Bremerton died Sept. 18, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Dec. 8, 1924, in Bremerton to Gerald and Louise (Schuldt) Cole. He graduated from Bremerton High School in 1942.
He married
Merle Fee on Sept. 6, 1946, in Bremerton.
Mr. Cole served in the Navy from 1942 to 1968. He was a chief petty officer.
Following his naval service, he worked for Rockwell International as an electronic engineer. He retired in 1980.
Mr. Cole was a member of the Square Steppers square dance club and enjoyed flying U-planes.
Survivors include his wife; his mother, Louise Crow of Bremerton; three daughters, Christine Blagg of Canal Winchester, Ohio, Connie Constantino of Granite Bay, Calif., and Karen Peralta of Phoenix; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Friday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Cremation is under the direction of Cherry Grove Memorial Park in Poulsbo, with inurnment at Forest Lawn cemetery in Bremerton.

Evelyn Fisher
Evelyn L. Fisher, 78, of Bremerton died Sept. 15, 2000, at her home.
She was born Sept. 14, 1922, in Pelican Rapids, Minn., to Thorwald and Gusta (Tiegen) Bakken.
She married
Gerald Fisher on Jan. 16, 1940, in Pelican Rapids.
Mrs. Fisher was a homemaker, mother and member of the Lutheran church. She enjoyed camping and crocheting.
She is survived by her husband of Bremerton; a son, Gordon Fisher of Olalla; a daughter, Linda Rand of Bremerton; five sisters, Olivia Church and Eunice Kirkham, both of Seattle, Loretta Harr of San Jose, Calif., and Arleen Wahlstrom and Ardis Albright, both of Pelican Rapids; two brothers, Ferdinand Bakken of Pelican Rapids and Gerald "Bud" Bakken of Zion, Ill.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A funeral service is planned for 1 p.m. Wednesday, also at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Interment
will take place at Washington Memorial Park in SeaTac.

Clarence Baker
Clarence "Bake" Baker, 88, of Bremerton died Sept. 17, 2000, at Alterra Clare Bridge of Silverdale.
He was born April 25, 1912, in Ringgold County, Iowa, to Harry and Martha (Shafer) Baker. He graduated from Carrington High School in Carrington, N.D., and from the University of Minnesota School of Mortuary Science. He also attended Valley City Teacher's College in North Dakota.
He married
Mary Kennedy in 1941 in North Dakota.
Mr. Baker served in the Navy from 1942 to 1945.
He worked as the super-intendent of Forest Lawn cemetery in Bremerton for 31 years, retiring in 1977.
Mr. Baker enjoyed bowling and golfing. He belonged to Summit Avenue Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Bill of Bremerton; a daughter, Jan Bogle of Bremerton; a sister, Floy Jones of Hedrick, Iowa; a brother, Glen of Melbourne, Fla.; and one grandchild.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A funeral service is planned for 2 p.m. Thursday at Summit Avenue Presbyterian Church. Entombment will take place at Sunrise Terrace Mausoleum at Forest Lawn cemetery.

Michael McLean
Michael "Mikie" Gail McLean, 53, of Belfair died of breast cancer Sept. 16, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born May 10, 1947, in Tacoma to Raymond and Patricia (Jones) Medeiros. She graduated from North Mason High School and attended Roberts Beauty School in Tacoma.
She married
Michael Neal McLean on June 12, 1980, in Victor.
Mrs. McLean worked as a hairstylist in the Belfair area for 30 years.
She enjoyed the outdoors and crafts. She was a member of Belfair Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of Belfair; four sons, Doug Parker of Belfair, Danny Parker of Gig Harbor, Jim McLean of Shelton and John McLean of Kent; two daughters, Dawn Gonzalez of Vancouver, Wash., and Jenny Johnson of Gig Harbor; a brother, Bruce Medeiros of Belfair; a sister, Kim Kennedy of Grapeview; and 15 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Medeiros.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Twin Firs cemetery in Belfair. A celebration of her life will follow at the family home.
Elizabeth Wilkinson
Elizabeth T. Wilkinson, 59, of Kingston died Sept. 12, 2000, at her home of cancer.
She was born Jan. 18, 1941, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Louis O. and Elizabeth R. (Turner) Halvorsen. She attended Bainbridge High School.
Survivors include her father of Bainbridge Island; a son, David K. Pearson of Poulsbo; two daughters, Victoria A. Murray of Poulsbo and Suanne S. Smith of Bainbridge Island; and two grandchildren.
A private celebration of her life will be held on Saturday. Arrangements are under the direction of Kitsap Cremation and Burial Society.

Mamie Conrad LaPage
Mamie Conrad LaPage, 84, of Port Orchard died Sept. 15, 2000, at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton.
She was born Feb. 6, 1916, in Caro, Mich., to Alton and Flossie (Rowell) Mather and graduated from Mayville, Mich., High School. She married
Ralph Conrad in Long Beach, Calif., on Dec. 31, 1935. He preceded her in death in 1968. She married
Theodore LaPage on Jan. 21, 1983. He preceded her in death in 1986.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed reading and sewing.
Survivors include six daughters, Kathy Conrad Powell and Marilyn LaPage Edmonds, both of Bremerton, Judy Conrad Hackstedde of Port Orchard, Nancy LaPage Kane of Lake Forest Park, Barbara Conrad Moore of LaClede, Idaho, and Marijane LaPage Fraisure of Bend, Ore.; a sister, Darlene Mather of Port Orchard; 27 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jack LaPage of Bremerton; two brothers, Frank Mather and Lynn Mather; and a sister, Louise Mather Hale.
A memorial service is planned at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, at Miller-Woodlawn Chapel with inurnment at Haven of Rest cemetery, Gig Harbor.

Elaine Carroll
Elaine Kay Carroll, 42, of Bremerton, died of breast cancer Sept. 13, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born Jan. 14, 1958, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Charles and Betty (Smith) Romick. She graduated in 1976 from East Bremerton High School and attended Olympic College.
She married
Eddie G. Carroll on Feb. 25, 1982, in Rathdrum, Idaho.
Mrs. Carroll worked in sales at Sears for 22 years.
She was a member of Gilda's Club and Sylvan Way Baptist Church. She enjoyed skydiving.
Survivors include her husband of Bremerton; mother and stepfather, Betty and Doug Boustead; a stepson, Jason Carroll of Reno, Nev.; a stepdaughter, Holly Carroll of Reno; three brothers, Ron of Houston, Bruce of Norway, Mich., and Brent of Kennewick; a stepbrother, Art Boustead of Bremerton; a sister, Nancy Schultz of Richland; two stepsisters, Dorothy Prouse and Debbie Smalley, both of Bremerton; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father in 1988.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Sunday at Sylvan Way Baptist Church.

Laura McConnaughey
Laura Myrtle (Johnson) McConnaughey, 85, of Port Orchard died Sept. 8, 2000, in Port Orchard.
She was born March 23, 1915, in Texas to Terrell Houston and Myrtle Leaila (Marsh) Roberts.
She married
Athel Thurmon Johnson on March 3, 1933. He preceded her in death in 1979. She married
Arthur McConnaughey on Dec. 12, 1986. He preceded her in death in 1991.
Mrs. McConnaughey was a member of the Church of Christ.
She is survived by three sons, Jack Johnson of Nampa, Idaho, Calvin Johnson of Saint Maries, Idaho, and Roy Johnson of Bainbridge Island; two daughters, Joyce Tipps of Scappoose, Ore., and Frances Gregory of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, Jesse Roberts of Dumas, Texas; a sister, Mildred Muse of Sublimity, Ore.; 14 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Myrtle Lois Johnson.
A private graveside service will take place in Prosser.
Franklin Strand
Franklin Fjelseth Strand, 83, of Poulsbo died Sept. 12, 2000, at Martha & Mary Health Care Center.
He was born Sept. 29, 1916, in Tacoma to Andrew and Anne (Fjelseth) Strand. He attended Ballard High School.
He married
Ethel Lakenes on Sept. 22, 1968, in Reno, Nev. She preceded him in death in 1996.
Mr. Strand served in the Navy from 1937 to 1959, achieving the rank of chief.
He later worked at the Poulsbo Post Office for seven years, retiring in 1972.
Mr. Strand enjoyed football. He was a member of the Warren G. Harding Masonic Lodge 260 and the Vinland Lutheran Church in Poulsbo.
He is survived by a stepdaughter, Claudia Kilburn of Poulsbo; and two grandchildren.
A funeral graveside service is planned for 10 a.m. Sept. 20 at the Vinland Lutheran Church cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.

Jerry Good
Jerry D. Good, 68, of Allyn died of natural causes Sept. 10, 2000, in Allyn.
He was born June 5, 1932, in Spirit Lake, Iowa, to George and Phyllis (Benson) Good. He graduated from high school in Tucson, Ariz., and attended New York University.
Mr. Good served in the Navy during the Korean War and played trumpet in the Navy Band.
He married
Brenda Lillian Pesola on June 6, 1981, in Las Vegas.
Mr. Good was a cinematographer for more than 30 years and was an Episcopal priest for three years.
He enjoyed fly fishing and was a member of the Lakeland Village Golf Club and St. Hugh Episcopal Church.
Survivors include his wife of Allyn; two sons, Michael and Robert, both of Los Angeles County, Calif.; a daughter, Victoria Blake of Norfolk, Va.; a sister, Karen Dillon of Arizona; and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother, Darby.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Monday at St. Hugh Episcopal Church in Allyn. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Joseph Gruce Jr.
Joseph Gruce Jr., 71, of Bremerton died of complications following heart surgery Sept. 12, 2000, at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle.
He was born Feb. 5, 1929, in West Virginia to Joseph and Erma (Hayes) Gruce. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson Vocational School in Long Island, N.Y., in 1947 and from Fresno Junior College in Fresno, Calif., in 1977.
He married
Kathleen Louise Fries on March 7, 1953, in Fresno. She preceded him in death in 1983.
Mr. Gruce served in the Army from 1950 to 1956, achieving the rank of corporal.
He was an insurance agent and apartment manager for 40 years, retiring in 1995.
He was a member of the First Methodist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Kenneth Gruszczynski of Reno, Nev., Joseph Gruszczynski of Clovis, Calif., and Robert Gruce of Kerman, Calif.; a daughter, Cheryl DeMay of Bremerton; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation is scheduled from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
