Jean-Paul Melendres
Jean-Paul Roxas Melendres, 21, of Silverdale died following a traffic accident on Highway 3 on Sept. 3, 2000.
He was born Oct. 14, 1978, in Lucena, Philippines, to Pablito and Adela (Roxas) Melendres. He graduated in 1996 from Central Kitsap High School.
Mr. Melendres was a restaurant manager for McDonald's on the Naval Submarine Base at Bangor. He had worked there 2-1/2 years.
He enjoyed dancing and singing. He was a member of the Roman Catholic Church.
Survivors include his parents of Silverdale; a sister, Janice-Anne Yambao of Silverdale; and two brothers, Jeoffrey and Julius, both of Silverdale. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, also at Lewis Funeral Chapel, with interment at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Raymond Dolezal
Raymond Edward Dolezal, 72, of Bremerton died Sept. 3, 2000, at his home.
He was born Sept. 14, 1928, in Dwight, Neb., to Adolph and Sophia (Kohout) Dolezal. He graduated in 1946 from Libby High School in Libby, Mont., and attended Olympic College from 1975 to 1976.
He married
Josephine Ewing on Nov. 30, 1956, in Nevada.
Mr. Dolezal served in the Navy from 1947 to 1972, retiring as a lieutenant. Following his naval service, he worked at Lockheed Shipyard in Seattle for
10 years as an insurance inspector.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, John Lemarr of Oregon City, Ore., Tim of Bremerton and Raymond of Olalla; two daughters, Rita Walch of Auburn and Brenda Schmidt of Hockley, Texas; a sister, Marcela Miles of Minneapolis; a brother, Herman of Libby, Mont.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. today at Central Kitsap Church of Christ. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel with cremation at Cherry Grove Memorial Park. His ashes will be buried at sea by the Navy.

Henry Kaylor
Henry Bates Kaylor, 69, of Poulsbo died of a heart attack Sept. 4, 2000, at his home.
He was born Jan. 16, 1931, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Henry and Nellie (Smouse) Kaylor. He graduated from high school in 1948.
Mr. Kaylor served in the Navy from 1948 to 1968, retiring as a boatswain's mate first class. He received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the Navy Occupation Service Medal.
He later was a rigger at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1978.
He married
Judith McClure in Port Orchard on Sept. 23, 1975.
Mr. Kaylor enjoyed automotive mechanics and football.
Survivors include his wife; two stepsons, Stephen Hickenbottom of Kent and James Lehde of Bremerton; two stepdaughters, Rebecca Webb of Memphis, Tenn., and Rachael Sidwell of Port Orchard; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Rohrenbach, in 1973.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday at Silverdale United Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel with cremation at Cherry Grove Memorial Park.

Willard Hoover
Willard Raymond Hoover, 88, of Port Orchard died of natural causes Sept. 4, 2000, at his home.
He was born Nov. 27, 1911, in Otter Creek, Iowa, to Samuel R. and Frona (Ritchey) Hoover. He graduated from high school in Woodburn, Iowa, in 1929, and later attended Olympic College.
He married
Nora Irene Cromer on March 24, 1935, in Buffalo, Mont.
Mr. Hoover worked for the Navy's Supervisor of Shipbuilding and Ship Repair in Seattle in Seattle and at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 29 years. He retired in 1970.
He was chief of the District 7 Volunteer Fire Department for a number of years. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Port Orchard.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Raymond of Magnolia, Texas, and William "Bill" of Seabeck; a daughter, Helen "Len" (Hoover) Lewis of Port Orchard; two sisters, Lucille Whorton and Wilma Koski, both of Lewiston, Idaho; 12 grandchildren;
22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Velma Horton, in 1999.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Thursday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. Interment
will be 10 a.m. Friday at Fraola cemetery in Port Orchard, followed by an 11 a.m. memorial service at the Church of Christ in Port Orchard.

Dianne Monreal
Rena Dianne Wasser Monreal, 48, of Bremerton died of cancer Sept. 3, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born July 31, 1952, in Houston to Clarence DeVictor and Gladys Ruth (Sifford) Wasser. She graduated in 1989 from Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas, and in 1993 from the University of Washington.
She was a nurse practitioner and a nurse in the oncology department at Harrison Hospital.
She was a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Survivors include four sons, Longino IV and Samuel, both of Austin, Texas, Victor of Bremerton and Monte of San Angelo; a daughter, Luz Mia of Boulder, Colo.; and a brother, Richard Lee Wasser of Broaddus, Texas.
A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. Thursday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. A reception will follow at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Perry Avenue in Bremerton.

Arthur Coldevin
Arthur Coldevin, 85, of Bremerton died of respiratory failure Aug. 30, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born Nov. 7, 1914, in Tahuya to Jorgen and Rebecca (Johansen) Coldevin.
He married
Bonnie Johnson on April 5, 1940, in Seattle.
Mr. Coldevin worked in the logging industry and also co-owned Bonnie's Seafood Restaurant in Bremerton. He retired in 1976.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Nancy Shultz and Janice Wisbey, both of Poulsbo, and Susan Adler of Arvada, Colo.; two sisters, Annie Lofthus and Ruth Britten, both of Seattle; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ole, in 1989.
At his request, no services are planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Tuell-McKee of Bremerton.

'Muffy' Azure
Noella "Muffy" Azure, 53, died Sept. 1, 2000, in Bremerton from complications of diabetes.
She was born June 28, 1947, in Bottineau, N.D., to Raymond and Ella (Sharrett) Casavant.
She graduated from Port Townsend High School in 1996 and married
Glenn "Chief" Azure in 1977. He died in 1985.
She worked as a flagger until her retirement in 1992 and enjoyed bingo and travel.
She is survived by one brother, Newell Casavant of Port Townsend; and five sisters, Lillian Strange of Kingston, Annebel Roberts of Port Hadlock, Darlene Lashua of Sequim, Orissa McGlothen of Washougal and Christina Goldberg of Tuscon.
Visitation will take place at Kosec Funeral Home from 2 to
7 p.m. today. A memorial service is scheduled at Kosec Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Saturday. Inurnment will be at Laurel Grove cemetery of Port Townsend.

Marie G. Degarimore
Marie G. Degarimore, 87, died Sept. 3, 2000, at Northwoods Lodge.
She was born July 8, 1913, in Port Orchard to Carl and Hulda (Carlson) Bjorling.
A graduate of South Kitsap High School, she attended a Seattle business college. She married
Ora J. Degarimore on Dec. 27, 1939, in Bremerton. He died in 1995.
She worked as a bookkeeper until the mid-1940s for Hayward Insurance, then co-owned Kitsap Sports with her husband and worked as treasurer and accountant. She retired in 1997.
She was a member of Sons of Norway, Tracyton United Methodist Church and the Ladies Division of Kitsap Golf and Country Club.
She is survived by a son, John of Bremerton; a stepson, James of Ocean Shores; two stepdaughters, Louise Thomas of Topeka and Dorothy Foreman of Custer, S.D.; one brother, Bert Bjorling of Oak Harbor; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Her brother, Carl Bjorling, and sister, Anne Johnson, preceded her in death.
Visitation is scheduled at Rill Chapel on two days - from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday.
A memorial service will take place at the Bremerton branch of the Sons of Norway, 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
A private family interment will be at Sunset Lane cemetery.

Johnna Gibson
Johnna Gibson, 21, died
Aug. 31, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
Gibson was born Sept. 7, 1978, in Bremerton. Following her 1996 graduation from South Kitsap High School, she attended Olympic College.
She worked at Manchester State Park and Stafford Suites Assisted Living. She enjoyed photography and horticulture.
She is survived by her parents, Jerry Gibson of Port Orchard and Sheila Barteaux of Idaho; one son, Kyran; two brothers, Brent of Boise and Ira of Utah; and grandparents, Tom and Lois Gibson of Belfair and Dolores Rambur of Miles City, Mont.
Memorial services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Rill Chapel. Pendleton-Gilchrist is handling the arrangements.
Bob Overfield
Robert "Bob" Overfield, 81, of Port Orchard died of Parkinson's disease Aug. 31, 2000, in Port Orchard.
He was born Nov. 1, 1918, in Gering, Neb., to LaFayette and Ruth (Shattuck) Overfield. He graduated from Gering High School.
He married
June W. Walker on Sept. 12, 1944, in Chicago.
Mr. Overfield served in the National Guard for six years and in the Navy from 1940 to 1974, retiring as an electronics technician master chief. He received four Bronze Stars and was a Pearl Harbor survivor.
He enjoyed electronics and reading.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, David of Portland and Lynn of Tacoma; two daughters, Jacqueline Watson and Judith Overfield, both of Port Orchard; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A private gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date. His cremated remains will be scattered at sea by the Navy. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.
