Donald Olson
Former Bremerton resident Donald Lyle Olson, 74, of Redmond died Aug. 25, 2000, in Redmond.
He was born Nov. 23, 1925, in Solem Township, Minn., to Helmer and Olga (Lien) Olson. He graduated in 1943 from Bremerton High School and attended the University of Washington.
Mr. Olson served in the Navy as a pilot.
He married
Barbara Olson on May 29, 1948, in Bremerton. She preceded him in death in 1993.
Mr. Olson was a meteorologist for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for more than 35 years.
He enjoyed golfing and photography. He was a member of the Lutheran church.
Survivors include a son, Stephen of Hayward, Calif.; three daughters, Jennifer of Lagunitas, Calif., Cynthia Hall of Meridian, Idaho, and Catherine Lisle of Lynnwood; a sister, Marianne Bennett of Tacoma; a brother, Harley Olson of Tucson, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will follow at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Donald Carroll
Donald Joseph Carroll, 66, of Poulsbo died of cancer Aug. 25, 2000, at Martha & Mary Health Care Center.
He was born June 28, 1934, in Long Beach, Calif., to Daniel and Dorothy (Worman) Carroll.
He was a carpenter, retiring in 1989.
Mr. Carroll was a member of Christ Memorial Church. He enjoyed cars and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Radwyn Gloria (Hawkins) Carroll; a son, Scott of Omaha, Neb.; four daughters, Robin Lord of Kingston, Shelly Hodge, Gloria Taylor and Cindy Heins, all of Poulsbo; a brother, Daniel; a sister, Nancy; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service is planned for 2:30 p.m. Friday at Christ Memorial Church in Poulsbo. Entombment will take place at Forest Lawn cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kitsap Cremation and Burial Society.
Deborah Bumgardner
Former Bangor resident Deborah Kay Bumgardner, 47, of Taft, Calif., died Aug. 20, 2000, in Taft.
She was born Feb. 1, 1953, in Denver, Colo., to Bill and Sally Lee Jr.
She is survived by her mother and step-father, Jim and Sally Cole of Bremerton; three sons, Jason, Jacob and Christopher, all of Taft; seven stepsons, Hershall, Kevin, Jimmy, Johnny, Terry, Kenny and Shannon, all of Taft; a daughter, Amy of Taft; a stepdaughter, Angie of Taft; three brothers, Bill Lee III and Guy Lee, both of Washington, and Rex Lee of Taft; a sister, Roxanne Bracewell of Washington; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father in 1986.
Arrangements were under the direction of West Side Family Mortuary in Taft.
Harold Brookbank
Harold Robert Brookbank, 71, of Olalla died Aug. 25, 2000, at Northwoods Lodge in Silverdale.
He was born April 27, 1929, in Battleground, Ind., to Byron and Ruth (Cain) Brookbank. He graduated in 1947 from Jefferson High School in Lafayette, Ind.
He married
Beverly Wartman on June 25, 1952, in Springfield, Mass.
Mr. Brookbank served in the Air Force from 1948 to 1952. He later was a deputy sheriff for Kitsap County Sheriff's Department, retiring in 1980.
Following his# retirement, Mr. Brookbank enjoyed traveling. He was a member of the Olalla Bible Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robert of Belfair and David of Olalla; a sister, Maxine Young of Indiana; and seven grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Tuesday at Lewis Funeral Chapel with interment at Forest Lawn cemetery.

William Covington
William D. Covington, 81, of Poulsbo died Aug. 27, 2000, at his home.
He was born June 24, 1919, in Franklinton, La., to John Isaac and Mamie (Harper) Covington. He attended Centenary College in Shreveport, La.
He married
Ora Mae Thorn in 1942 in Shreveport. She preceded him in death in 1975.
Mr. Covington served in the Army Air Force during World War II, achieving the rank of master sergeant.
He was vice-president and controller of Texas Eastern Transmission Co., now known as Duke Energy.
Mr. Covington was a founding participant and contributor to the Spectrum Advisory Council at Spectrum Community School in Kingston.
Survivors include a daughter, Del Howe; a stepdaughter, Linda Tober of Deer Park, Texas; a sister, Mamie Lee of Russellville, Ark.; a brother, Andrew Covington of Redondo Beach, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Poulsbo Mortuary, "The Stone Chapel." A graveside service is planned for 11 a.m. Friday at Breidablik cemetery.
Burt Loitz
Burt Loitz, a 15-year resident of Driftwood Key near Hansville, died Aug. 23, 2000.
He is survived by his wife, Cecile; two sons, Frank and Dan, both of Oregon; a daughter, Cherilyn of Bainbridge Island; two granddaughters and two grandsons; and a great-granddaughter.
A military graveside service was held in Shelton. Interment
took place on Aug. 28.

Mary Hamilton
Mary G. Hamilton, 71, of Port Orchard died Aug. 25, 2000, at her home following a short illness.
She was born June 12, 1929, in Mechanicsville, Pa., to Alfred and Ada (Gutherie) Gross. She graduated from Clarion Limestone High School in Clarion, Pa., in 1947.
She married
James H. Hamilton on Dec. 17, 1947, in Virginia.
Mrs. Hamilton worked at Sears for 37 years, retiring as a sales manager in 1991.
She was a member of the Baptist church.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Judy Hoffman of Port Townsend and Barbara Butt of Michigan; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Rodney, in 1982.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Sunday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Cremation will take place at Cherry Grove Memorial Park with inurnment at Forest Lawn cemetery.

Ted Hart
Ted L. Hart, 91, of Port Orchard died of cancer Aug. 26, 2000, at Ridgemont Terrace Convalescent Center.
He was born June 18, 1909, in Lequire, Okla., to Jasper and Mente Belle (Johnson) Harp.
He married
Thelma Davis on Nov. 26, 1984, in British Columbia, Canada.
Mr. Hart worked as a crane operator at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Richard of Haines, Alaska, and Timothy of Dewey, Ariz.; two stepdaughters, Evelyn Douglas of Snohomish and Marla Garrison of Juneau, Alaska; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma, in 1982; and two brothers, John and Everett Harp.
Visitation is scheduled from noon to 6 p.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel.
A funeral service is planned for 1 p.m. Thursday at Lewis Funeral Chapel with a graveside service to follow at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Raymond Cundiff
Raymond Jerry Cundiff, 57, of Bremerton died Aug. 25, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born July 7, 1943, in Bremerton. He graduated from Central Kitsap High School in 1962 and attended Olympic College.
He is survived by a son, Richard of Port Orchard; two daughters, Kristine of Bremerton and Michele of Gig Harbor; numerous brothers and sisters; and six grandchildren.
There will be no service.
Agnes McGuire
Agnes McGuire, 84, of Poulsbo died Aug. 25, 2000, at Martha & Mary Health Care Center.
She was born Aug. 4, 1916, in New York, to Thomas and Lucy (McMahon) Mulleady. She attended high school in Spring Valley, N.Y.
She married
John McGuire on June 8, 1940, in Manhattan.
Mrs. McGuire worked for The New York Telephone Co. and later became a full-time homemaker.
She enjoyed traveling throughout the United States.
She was a member of the Roman Catholic church.
Survivors include her husband; a son, John Jr. of Poulsbo; two daughters, Eileen Vaughan of Mount Pleasant, S.C., and Kathleen Green of Atlanta; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Edward and Thomas Mulleady.
A memorial Mass is planned for noon Friday at St. Olaf's Catholic Church in Poulsbo.
Cremation will take place at Cherry Grove Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.
Helen Fuller
Helen H. Fuller, 90, of Port Orchard died Aug. 28, 2000, at Stafford Suites Assisted Living.
She was born June 24, 1910, in Mount Vernon, to George and LaVina (Tidyman) Hannaford. She graduated from Mount Vernon High School, Bellingham Normal School in 1930 and Western Washington University in 1963.
She married
Andrew S. Fuller on June 7, 1942, in Mount Vernon. He preceded her in death in 1999.
Mrs. Fuller taught and later was a reading coordinator in the South Kitsap School District for 30 years. She retired in 1974.
She enjoyed motorcycling and gardening. She was a member of South Kitsap Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Judy Munger of Port Orchard; and a grandson. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Fred, Jerry and Gilbert Hannaford; and a sister, Dorothy Allen.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Thursday at South Kitsap Presbyterian Church. Interment
will take place at Sunset Lane cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Luba Michaelis
Luba Michaelis, 91, of Bremerton died of natural causes Aug. 29, 2000, at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation of Oyster Bay.
She was born Jan. 24, 1909, in Russia. She graduated from high school in Russia.
She had been married
to George Michaelis for 53 years. He preceded her in death in 1981.
Mrs. Michaelis was a homemaker. She collected bears and enjoyed playing Bingo at SunBridge.
Survivors include a son, Hans of Seattle; a daughter, Mary Machel of Ohio; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Irma Mathwig, in 1992.
A graveside service is planned for 11 a.m. Thursday at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
