Richard Burr
Richard Jerome Burr, 51, of Bremerton died Aug. 15, 2000, in Bremerton following a lengthy illness.
He was born May 14, 1949, in Berkeley, Calif., to Daniel and Ellen (Larson) Burr. He graduated from El Cerrito High School in El Cerrito, Calif., in 1967 and attended Concordia College in St. Paul, Minn.
Mr. Burr was a musician and a member of the Lutheran church.
He is survived by a sister, Janet Ellen Burr of Port Townsend. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Stephen.
Inurnment will take place at Sunset View cemetery in Berkeley.
Joseph Dickinson
Joseph L. Dickinson, 80, of Kingston died Aug. 18, 2000, at Bremerton Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born June 1, 1920, in Seattle to Percy and Mary (Yerabak) Dickinson. He attended Ballard High School.
Mr. Dickinson served in the Army during World War II and received a Purple Heart.
He married
Mabel Shields in 1947 in Seattle. She preceded him in death in 1982. He then married
Lillian Larson in 1984 in Reno, Nev. She preceded him in death in 1994.
Mr. Dickinson was a civil engineer, working as a building inspector at Roats Engineering in Poulsbo and for the cities of Poulsbo and Winslow for
23 years, retiring in 1998.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and volunteered for the Wheelchair Library.
Survivors include two sons, Robert of Kingston and John of Bremerton; a daughter, Joan Glavin of Arlington; and four grandchildren.
A funeral service is planned for 10 a.m. Thursday at Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel. Interment
will take place at Poulsbo City cemetery.

Lester Schenewerk
Lester Raymond Schenewerk, 93, of Shelton died Aug. 17, 2000, at Mason General Hospital of complications from hip surgery.
He was born June 17, 1907, in Kansas City, Kan., to William and Minnie (Hannie) Schenewerk.
He served in the Marine Corps from 1931 to 1941, achieving the rank of corporal. He received an expeditionary medal and a good conduct medal.
He married
Cecil Carlson on Sept. 20, 1986, in Reno, Nev.
Mr. Schenewerk was a truck driver at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 25 years, retiring in 1966.
He enjoyed traveling and dining out.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Raymond of Royal Grove, Ore., and Tom and Larry, both of Port Orchard; two stepdaughters, Rae Whitten of Shelton and Kay Carlson of Auburn; a brother, Archie "Babe" of Kansas City; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marion (York) Schenewerk in 1984; and three brothers, Dorsey, Vincent and Harold.
At his request, there will be no services. Inurnment will take place at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Patricia Rockford
Patricia Ann Rockford, 62, of Port Orchard died Aug. 18, 2000, at Messenger House after a lengthy illness.
She was born May 11, 1938, in Vancouver Barracks to Charles and Cecelia (Maczko) Lackey. She attended high school in Seattle and the business college in Bremerton.
She married
Alvin J. Rockford on Nov. 3, 1960, in Seattle.
Mrs. Rockford was a homemaker and waitress. She enjoyed watching her children participate in activities they enjoyed and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of South Kitsap Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her husband of Spokane; two sons, Wade and Tim, both of Port Orchard; two daughters, RustyMae Gilbert and Debbie Jones, both of Port Orchard; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Lackey and Frances Swanstrome.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Thursday at South Kitsap Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel.

Harvey Lindquist
Harvey C. Lindquist, 79, of Port Orchard died Aug. 18, 2000, at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle of heart failure.
He was born Dec. 26, 1920, in Seattle, to Harvey and Irene (Simpson) Lindquist. He graduated from Kirkland High School in 1938 and from an apprenticeship program for pipefitting.
He married
Jeanne Ridings on Nov. 2, 1942. She preceded him in death in 1998.
Mr. Lindquist served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War.
He was an engineering technician at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 34 years, retiring in 1973.
He was a member of the Bremerton Central Lions and Bremerton Yacht Club.
Survivors include a son, Stephen of Palm Desert, Calif.; a sister, Lorraine Johns of Lake Forest Park; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from
9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. that same day. Entombment will take place at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Ronald L. Swedback
Ronald L. Swedback, 71, of Bremerton died Aug. 18, 2000, at his home.
He was born Sept. 21, 1928, in Big Falls, Mont., to Melville C. and Leda D. (DeRosier) Swedback. He graduated from Bremerton High School in 1947 and attended Olympic College and the University of Washington.
He served in the Army from 1950 to 1952.
He married
Joan M. Weber on Feb. 21, 1958, in Bremerton. She preceded him in death last year.
Mr. Swedback worked for more than 30 years as a medical technologist with Olympic Medical Labs, retiring in 1990.
He enjoyed bowling and fly fishing.
Survivors include two daughters, Kim Koffman and Wendy Ellis, both of Bremerton; a sister, Mildred McCormick of Shreveport, La.; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Brian, in 1969.
A funeral service is planned for 1 p.m. today at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Interment
will take place at Forest Lawn cemetery in Bremerton.

Sara Hurley
Sara Jane Hurley, 85, of Bainbridge Island died of acute leukemia Aug. 15, 2000, on Bainbridge Island.
She was born April 30, 1915, in Snohomish to Cyrus and Margaret (Nelson) Gephart. She graduated in 1933 from Everett High School and in 1937 from Providence Hospital School of Nursing in Everett.
She served in the Army from 1942 to 1950, achieving the rank of captain.
She married
Dr. Albert Hurley on Jan. 9, 1949, in Everett. He preceded her in death this year.
Mrs. Hurley was a nurse and homemaker for 67 years.
She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church on Bainbridge Island, the Audubon Society and the Women's Literary Club.
Survivors include four daughters, Saralinda Larson of Tacoma, Molly Hurley of Seattle, Mary Frances Hurley and Eileen Safford, both of Bainbridge Island; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Aug. 31 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Kass Funeral Home on Bainbridge Island.

Lillian Kost
Lillian Kost, 85, of Silverdale died after a long illness Aug. 17, 2000, at Crista Shores.
She was born Dec. 26, 1914, in Rigby, Idaho, to Joseph and Minnie (Lambourne) Shanks.
She married
Walter Kost in 1949. He preceded her in death in 1987.
Mrs. Kost was a housewife and enjoyed sewing and gardening.
Survivors include three sons, Ronald Howe of Cottage Grove, Ore., Robert of Kelso and Walter J. of Astoria, Ore.; three daughters, Lorraine Hall of Bremerton, Marleen Wynn of Silverdale and Janelle Stinnett of Astoria, Ore.; a sister, Mary Hare of Duarte, Calif.; a brother, Edward Shanks of Yakima;
25 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Kost, in 1974; and a brother, Harold Shanks, in 1994.
Cremation will take place at Poulsbo Mortuary. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Raymond Ruef
Former Bremerton resident Raymond A. Rueff, 83, of Hemet, Calif., died of heart failure July 24, 2000, in Hemet.
He was born July 25, 1916, in Oregon, to Bruno and Theresa (Keller) Ruef. He graduated from high school in Staton, Ore.
Mr. Ruef served in the Navy from 1943 to 1945, achieving the rank of seaman first class.
He wa salesman for Bremerton Ice and Fuel for 35 years.
He was a member of the Catholic church and the Elks in Bremerton.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Doran of Bremerton; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Esther Ford.
Inurnment took place at Riverside National cemetery in Riverside, Calif. Arrangements were under the direction of Hartford Funeral Home in Hemet.
