Gary Miller
Gary Dean Miller, 53, of Roy died Aug. 3, 2000, in Tacoma of diabetes.
He was born June 13, 1947, in Shelton, to Glen and Phyllis (Meyers) Miller.
He married
Tamara D. McKendry on Aug. 9, 1986.
Survivors include his wife; his mother of Allyn; a son, Zachary of Roy; and a brother, Doug of Bremerton.
A memorial service is planned for 3 p.m. Tuesday at Clover Creek Bible Fellowship in Tacoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Dryer Mortuary.

Nora Hearsum
Nora Leola Hearsum, 87, of Bremerton died Aug. 6, 2000, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle of head trauma.
She was born Jan. 13, 1913, in Sault Sainte Marie, Ontario, Canada, to Albert Henry and Delia (Edwards) Tomlinson.
Mrs. Hearsum worked 33 years in photo finishing in California before retiring in 1978.
She enjoyed working with ceramics and handicrafts.
Survivors include a son, William Gort Jr. of North Fort Myers, Fla.; a daughter, Norma J. Ramey of Bremerton; two brothers, Willard Tomlinson of Fort Payne, Ala., and Al Tomlinson of Kyle, Texas; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Leroy Hearsum, in 1962; and a son, Terrance Gort, in 1984.
Inurnment will take place at Golden Gate National cemetery in San Bruno, Calif. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.

Leona Hull
Leona Grace Hull, 91, of Bremerton died Aug. 1, 2000, at her home.
She was born Aug. 2, 1908, in Walworth, Wis., to Alfred and Ella (Staley) Chadsey. She graduated in 1926 from Milton Union High School in Milton, Wis.
She enjoyed gardening and traveling.
Survivors include three sons, Malcolm and Douglas, both of Evansville, Wis., and Norman of Leesburg, Fla.; three daughters, Loretta Jean Stahley of Mesa, Ariz., Diana Williams of Bremerton and Maureen Willier of Lykens, Pa.;
20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Harold W. Hull; three brothers, Fay, Melvin and Merlin Chadsey; and a son, Ronald Fay.
A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. Sunday at Leona's garden. Arrangements are under the direction of Kitsap Cremation and Burial Society. Inurnment will take place at Forest Lawn cemetery.

Patricia Nostrud
Patricia Jean Nostrud, 52, of Bremerton died following an extended illness Aug. 7, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
She was born June 30, 1948, in Bremerton to Ansley and Agnes (Tirnell) McKenney. She graduated in 1966 from South Kitsap High School.
Ms. Nostrud was a computer operator for the Naval Supply Center at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 12 years.
She had been active in 4-H and was a past Honored Queen of Bethel 61 Job's Daughters in Port Orchard.
Survivors include her mother; a son, Mikah E. Richins of Bremerton; a daughter, Jaime M. Richins of Bremerton; a sister, Pamela J. Keyes of Bremerton; and two grandchildren.
At her request, no services will be held. Inurnment will take place at Forest Lawn cemetery.

John Udd
John Edward Udd, 78, of Poulsbo died following an extended illness Aug. 6, 2000, at his home.
He was born Dec. 29, 1921, in Kent to Zachais and Adeline (O'Connor) Udd. He graduated from Bremerton High School and attended Illinois Technical Institute and the University of Washington.
He married
Irene Serocki on July 20, 1946.
Mr. Udd served in the Navy from 1944 to 1946. He later was as a research engineer at Bangor for
20 years.
He was a member of St. Olaf's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Eric of Portland, Edward of Fairport, N.Y., and Alan of Seattle; a daughter, Kathleen Shoemaker of Seattle; two brothers, Elmer of Hawaii and Albert of Mt. Vernon; and three grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Olaf's Catholic Church in Poulsbo. Arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.
Bryan Kuska
Bryan Jennings Kuska, 30, of Port Orchard died Aug. 7, 2000, at Harrison Hospital.
He was born March 30, 1970, in Bremerton to Bryan and Sally (Bell) Kuska. He graduated in 1988 from South Kitsap High School.
Mr. Kuska was a maintenance worker for apartment buildings.
He enjoyed animals.
Survivors include his mother of Port Orchard, father and stepmother, Bryan and Sheryl Kuska of Bremerton; two daughters, Autumn Gareis of DeWatto and Harlee Davis of Montana; six sisters, Diana, Brenda, Ann, Kat, Becky and Deb; two brothers, Robbie and Kevin; and grandmother, Lois Bell of Tacoma.
A gathering of family and friends is planned from 6 to
8 p.m. Aug. 18 at the Packwood Community Club, 3045 Madrona Drive. in Port Orchard. Cremation will take place at Cherry Grove Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.

Robert Brydon
Robert W. Brydon, 82, of Bremerton died of cancer Aug. 3, 2000, in Bremerton.
He was born Jan. 13, 1918, in Campbell, Calif., to Archibald and Theresa (Sholtz) Brydon. He graduated in 1936 from Campbell High School and in 1939 from San Jose Junior College in California.
He married
Joy Y. Musante on Aug. 14, 1979, in Campbell.
Mr. Brydon was a fruit farmer and a building inspector, both for 27 years. He retired in 1991.
He was a member of the Congregational Church in Campbell and the board of trustees for West Valley College in Saratoga, Calif.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Steven of Chico, Calif., and John of Novato, Calif.; a sister, Olga Cooper of Gilroy, Calif.; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynn Victoria Brydon; and a sister, Nora Ogren.
A funeral graveside service is planned for 1 p.m. Thursday at Congregational Church in Campbell. Interment
will take place at Los Gatos Memorial Park in San Jose, Calif. Arrangements are under the direction of Campbell Memorial Chapel.

Leona Powell
Leona Lee Powell, 78, of Bremerton died Aug. 6, 2000, in Bremerton.
She was born May 23, 1922, in St. Helens, Ore., to Harry and Margaret (Klatte) Smith.
Mrs. Powell was a housewife. She enjoyed gardening and wildlife.
She is survived by a son, James of Sequim; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, in 1978; and later by a son, Larry.
A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove in Poulsbo. Interment
will take place at Poulsbo City cemetery.
Marvin Stock
Marvin Raymond Stock, 65, of Poulsbo died at his home Aug. 7, 2000.
He was born Oct. 23, 1934, in Columbus, Wis., to Henry and Estella (Neis) Stock.
Mr. Stock served in the Army during World War II.
He was a farmer for most his life and was most recently a maintenance engineer for the apartments in which he lived.
He married
Dolores Clark on Oct. 18, 1998, in Poulsbo.
Mr. Stock was a member of the Catholic church and the Elks in Bremerton.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Craig of Sheboygen, Wis., and Peter of Port Orchard; a stepson, Robert Fox of Milton; three stepdaughters, Nadine Ice of Federal Way, Candice House of Bremerton and Suzette Casey of Spring, Texas; two sisters, Dolly Westenburg of Watertown, Wis., and Janice Wells of Laughlin, Nev.; and three grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel. A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. Friday at Stone Chapel. A procession to Haven of Rest cemetery in Gig Harbor will follow.
Mary Carter
Mary Carter, 89, of Port Orchard died of natural causes at her home Aug. 6, 2000.
She was born Nov. 29, 1910, in Port Orchard to Toni and Grace (Grosso) Rossi. She graduated in 1928 from South Kitsap High School.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and being with friends.
Survivors include two sons, Dean and Jack, both of Port Orchard; two daughters, Arlene Bruce of Sacramento, Calif., and Jeanne Moore of Gresham, Ore.; a sister, Sophie Robinson; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Pete and Fred Rossi; and a sister, Anne Fellers.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon Friday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A graveside service will follow beginning 1 p.m. Friday at Bethel cemetery in Port Orchard.
Jay Chase
Jay Valentine Chase, 89, of Poulsbo died Aug. 7, 2000, at Harbor House in Poulsbo.
He was born Nov. 1, 1910, in Chevy Chase, Md., to Admiral Jehu V. and Mary V. (Taylor) Chase. He attended Bremerton High School, graduated from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., in 1933, and from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Mr. Chase served in the Navy from 1933 to 1960, retiring with the rank of captain. He commanded several naval vessels and served as chief of staff for the United States Naval Advisory to the Republic of Korea.
He was a member of the Naval Academy Alumni Association and was an avid golfer.
Survivors include two sons, Jay Jr. of Poulsbo and Robin of Santa Barbara, Calif.; and six granddaughters.
A private memorial service will be held at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard Chapel. Burial at sea of his cremated remains will be done by the Navy. Arrangements are under the direction of Poulsbo Mortuary, The Stone Chapel.
